  • No plastic surgery- or facelifts, no collagen injections. She's a product of good living. Pure and simple. I'm from California, fuul of plastic people, and she represents everything clean and a good soul.

  • Who operated the plastic surgery on her? It's a joke, of course.

  • thumbs up to this song long may she sing such classics

  • Here is a beautiful woman who can really sing, huge talent. comapre this to the S*** you hear on X-Factor. Seeing this performance should make some modern artists ashamed at the drivel they pass off as singing. Thanks for posting this lovely video!

  • @poontangsta1 - Oh ! YES

  • @poontangsta1 I am with you that Oliva Newton-John is one hot woman.

  • @poontangsta1 right?! they don't make them like they used to...

  • The backup female singers were Benny Hill's Angels!

  • Kinascope sucks! Nothing beats color.

  • A rare instance where a cover is as good as the original.

Love both Olivia Newton John and John Denver's versions. :)

  • @jessou1996 unless they got her long lost twin to appear on Glee, she's definitely alive

  • da gibts nichts weiter zu sagen ......als ...einfach klasse

  • Σ|D<Nice mixed gospel and country western.

  • @feybart

    つうかおまえダッチかよw

  • i liked this song in whisper of the heart..

  • God Olivia was beautiful back in the days (not that she still isn't beautiful) ...

... sadly they don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • Whiper of the heart <3

  • @Minoriin

    yaaay

  • She should have went back to country as soon as her pop career slowed down.

  • Oh take me back. Thanks for the video.

  • go whisper of the heart!! i love this song!

  • I never knew they had West Virginia Mountain Mommas in Australia???

Well, you learn something new every day!

...and here I thought they only had Queensland Bikini Queens with a Wonder Down Under and a few of Jenny Jack from the Outback with one done-under, downed hunter

  • Reminiscing:) whisper of the Heart

  • She`s got the best voice ever - no one even come close !!

  • stop moaning just listen to both versions both are brill long live country music

  • Take me Home, Country Roads was released on John Denvers 4th studio album "Poems, Prayers and Promises" album in May 1971. It hit #1 spot on "Billboards Hot 100" in USA in August 1971.

Olivia Newton-John recorded her hit of the song in 1973 - and it hit #6 in Japan and #43 in USA!!!!!!!

Take me Home, Country Roads and/or the music of that song, have been recorded over 1,000 times worldwide!!!! (The leader is Yesterday over 3,000 recordings!!)

  • lol, old school tv. not a single black person in the room

  • When are there black people at a country music event like this?

  • Wasn't Top of the Pops in color by 1969? I guess this is a B&W copy...

  • Hi! This Song is beautiful forever!

Who knows the version of "Take me home..." by Buffy Sainte-Marie?

  • This is probably when I first fell in love with OJN - I think I was 13.

  • you and the rest of the world...:-)

  • @brit1958dec haha I know how ya feel cause ever since I was a kid I was so attracted by her and love her voice to this day :)

  • @brit1958dec OJN?

  • @california236 Olivia Newton-John.....

  • @sakura818 so OJN means

    Olivia

    Newton

    John?

  • @california236 Yes...yes it does.

  • @sakura818 OJN means Olivia Newton John, even though her initials are ONJ?

  • @california236

    No, it ONJ of course.

  • @DictatorRoB yeah but, tell them that.

  • Yeah compare this 25 year old to Brittney spears!!

  • white gold..........

  • OMG, she looks like Angelina Jolie here, and her voice was at its peak.

  • Man, I've never gotten over singing "Getting Physical" in that great old video.

  • Ah ONJ, our idol at 16 she is so sweet and innocent looking.dont make 'em like that anymore..our poor kids..now its all knickers, bra's drugs and rehab..nothing left to the imagination..

  • ONJ was born in 1948, so she was not 16 here, RebeccaJaneF; she was approximately 25 years old, and she didn't stay so sweet and innocent; she promoted smoking as a way to look cool in "Grease," and she went the normal route of using sex to sell her videos in the 1980s; by the way, Olivia is ethnically half Jewish if you were wondering. Her Jewish grandfather won a Nobel Prize in physics.

  • ..actually I mean I was 16 when we adored her :) lol

didnt know she was half jewish1 interesting fact, thnx

  • Thank you! I wish you could explain that to the people around me!

  • very nice

  • she is so good looking wow

  • She's só charming!

  • omfg i rlly love this song..

  • Thank you Whisper of the Heart!

  • @jaybcutie agreed! Whisper of the heart is the best! and Howl's moving castle! (^_^)

  • @jaybcutie I first discovered this song through that movie too lol :)

By the way Whisper of the Heart was a good movie. I liked it :)

  • @jaybcutie INDEED

  • bellissima!!!

  • i luved grease!

  • i know this song because of the japanese movie too!

    great song man

    both versions are amazing

  • is she dead yet?

  • nope

  • @scarface4ever1 I have a hole for her ready.

  • wann wurde das gesungen?

    ist schön

  • que dulce voz tiene olivia, una version muy espiritual

  • i am 45 and apparently i was 9 (working it out awch) when it came out and it is still a favorite. We used to listen to her :cartride" (does anyone remember that?) when driving along the beach in "Scotland" yes scotland and listening to that "cartridge" it was excellent. as i say i was 9 and still enjoy it.

  • I can't understand why her career didn't last longer. She is surely something very special.

  • gpesano - Olivia is alive and well and still working in Oz & the US, she is an advocate for breast cancer prevention, and she still looks pretty good at 60.

  • I don't think I've ever seen an artist that pretty, honestly

  • Totally agree, Olivia Newton-John was/is a muse.

Shame on me i only got to know this beautiful song thru the beautiful studio Ghibli film

    "Whister of the Heart".

Both versions gives me the shivers.

  • me too!!

i knew this song because I saw this movie

^^ i love the song and the japanese too.!

  • Whisper of the Heart is an awesome film. Don't shameful.

  • Me too! I just finished watching that wonderful movie!

I absolutely love the film AND the song!

Miyazaki is a genius and this song is poetry.

  • it was a studio ghibli film, but it doesnt automatically mean its miyazaki's, i think...

  • it wasn't. Good call. ^_^

  • it wasn't. Good call. He helped with production, but the story wasn't his and he didn't direct.

  • She was stunning, wow, and what a voice!

  • Hellz Yeah man this shit be so cash, best song ever ya'll

  • Happy Birthday,Olivia.

  • This sounds almost the same version that is in the opening credits for Whisper of the Heart

  • Well. it is the same song but different lyrics at some points, A nice movie that one too.

  • Wouw... She was beautiful.

  • What a woman ......O is Simply stunning

  • This was beautiful in the Studio Ghibli film.

I like how much less country this is than John Denver's version. I'm not much of a country fan. I wouldn't have searched for this song if I'd heard the original, but hearing the version in Whisper Of The Heart made me want to hear that version again. Well done, Olivia.

  • I read the summary to that anime movie on Wikipedia and it seemed kind of simple after a good beginning with the books. Someone should have died at the end to make it tragic.

  • PS: Just for the record, I have family in WV.

  • I reckon I got me kin in Virginia gone way back yonder to dat civil war. Goin up dem hills and you find em real folk - simple folk- livin off the fat of the land.

  • come by, we have plenty to teach you. ooIoo

  • She's an Aussie.

What does she know about West BY GOD Virginia?

I find Denver's version more "real" than this.

  • Music should know no borders. I say, well done, Olivia!

  • she look like my mother

  • Did you know that John Denver had never been to West Virginia when he wrote the song? It's true.
