Man i saw these guys on this tour, I was 16 years old going to see Jerry Cantrell, but they blew me away. Probably the best experience ever of going to a band and getting blown away by a band you expected nothing out of.
As noted in the info here, this was recorded in 2002. When CWTF was both opening for and part of the Jerry Cantrell solo band, which explains the equipment.
Just watched the other live vid as well as this, and I just don't get this band. Sounds like just jamming and him improvising vocals. I do like him in AIC, but not sure what to make of him here. The songs (so far) are not very strong
I have a question for those of you who are still griping about William, Jerry, Mike, and Sean "cashing in" on a name that was derived Layne's previous band Alice N' Chainz. Has it ever crossed your mind that might have played a factor in their decision to keep the name? That they felt continuing under the name he helped create was the best way to honor his legacy? On October 8 Layne was #5 among the most popular searches on Yahoo and BGW2B came out just a couple days before. Think about that.
This song is really good, interesting lines in the refrain, and kick ass groovy riff. They're a great live power trio imho. Give the guys some credit, for fuck's sake!
if you were to be at this show you'd have to have a good time and feel the energy of this tune, thier just jammin away man...that shot of the center stage mic is annoying though. move on from the past and just enjoy AIC as they are now or don't and leave it alone.
To previous comment: ALL of the members of AIC are responsible for the success they achieved- not just Layne. The 3 guys that are still alive DO NOT deserve to have to start from square one again. THEY DO deserve to move ahead with the careers they built! Layne will always be in our hearts but LETS MOVE ON AND ROCK with AIC new phase!!
Ill give it to him man he rocks with this group, but man he just sucks with Alice in Chain, any one would suck trying to take Laynes place though, they need to rename the band!!Theres no way around it THEY ARE CASHING IN ON THE NAME THAT LAYNE CREATED BEFORE JERRY EVEN CAME ALONG,every one says Jerry wrote more songs but if you look at all thier cds youll realize it was about 50/50 half layne half jerry some by the together
Im sorry to inform you that Jerry, Layne, Sean and Mike all created AIC together, at the same time. Layne was no more a part of the band than the other 3. I am sorry that he left us so soon and miss his musical contributions more than anyone, but give the other 3 a break. They deserve to get everything that they have worked for. What it boils down to is that your opinion is irrelevant. They are going to do what they want to and what their hearts say to do.
I agree. Jerry, Sean, and Mike certainly deserve everything that they have worked so hard for. They sacrificed a LOT because their love for Layne was stronger than anything band-related. As long as Layne was still alive, they kept the band on hold and pursued other projects. If that's not love or respect, I don't know what is.
It's true that the name AIC was derived from a band that Layne was previously involved with but Layne left that band to perform with Jerry's, which was called Diamond Lie at the time. They of course changed their name to AIC. It's also true that Layne and Jerry shared the load 50/50 with the lyrics but Jerry still wrote or co-wrote along with Sean and the two Mikes almost all of the music. Layne only wrote the music as well as the lyrics to Hate to Feel, Again, and Head Creeps.
William Duvall is such a great guy. Ditched his band to ride Layne Staley's coattails all the way to the bank. Meanwhile, his CWTF bandmates are now sweeping floors at Taco Bell.
This isn't true on any level. William IS a great guy, and has bled for his art. Further, the drummer is NEVER without a high profile gig. AIC hand picked William to move forward with, you can either accept that or dont buy the new record. It'll be your loss.

He's good, but not good enough to carry a whole band. No reference to AIC, I think he makes a pretty good fit there.

A bit of Tool, a bit of Zeppelin, a bit of good stuff. The new album should be different, but interesting.
