  • There's a medieval puvb in stockholm where everyone can shout and sing as loud as they want to. me and my friends started singing this yesterday and before we even had started the whole damn pub sang with us.

  • @rebarproductions I wanna go to that pub in Stockholm. I bet it has to be the best atmosphere to drink and spend a good time with friends.

  • @carlitroskarateka Simpply the best, send a PM to me if your going to stockholm and i'll tell you where it is.

  • @rebarproductions of course I will :D thank you bro!!!! Take care.

  • hi funkytrue, maybe you correct the headline of your clip? the original song title is "the wild rover". if not, no one will find that clip, because youtube will not show your clip as a search result.

i just found your clip "near the way", not as a search result.

  • no nay never, no nay never no more will i play the wild rover, no never no more.

  • Me good ol' Irish friends, greeting from Macedonia, i'll drink to your country, your songs, your people, your beer, and your beautiful landscape! Freedom for both of our countries! Yarrr!

  • @ausroar Cheers

  • the good ol Irish Rovers thank you for uploading and a Merry Christmas :)

  • I play the wild rover...

  • is the melody from the german song "an der Nordseeküste" ?

    Sounds like the same ^^

  • @Roasty79 indeed, the same melody, but it was "stolen", the original song is irish. things like that happen. the song "schöne maid" is really a (wonderful) hawaiian song. see the original on .../watch?v=yxp6WVbEwRM :-) b.rt.w.: the second part of that was used for another song by this german artist. find out which :-))

  • @txaflas1 thats what i said

  • Haha anti drinking song as if there's such thing as an irish anti drinking song it's messing like every time i wake up with a hangover I say "ughhhh I'm never drinking again"

  • Is there even such a thing as an anti drinking song in ireland? what Irishman is anti drinking?

  • @scottwall0 ive yet met a irishman thats anti drinkin hell ive yet to meet an irishman that walks out of a pub

  • @scottwall0 English Tea :D

  • @scottwall0 if u dont drink ur not irish

  • @IRISHandSERBS wellsaid

  • @scottwall0 We call them pioneers. Or quitters

  • @scottwall0 more then likely unless you find an irish man who is a hard core christian . then you wont find one lol

  • @scottwall0 Not one! Erin go bragh!

  • @scottwall0 The English who didn't leave!

  • @scottwall0 Alcohol is the scourge of the land; it makes you shoot at your landlord...and miss him lol

  • @scottwall0 not really, all our songs are either about opression or drinking, sometimes both

  • It is not "anti-drinking". The singer puts gold on the table at the alehouse. He's come home and will "play the wild rover no more".

  • Irish Rovers from the album Ramblers & Gamblers

  • The song is an anti-drinking song, as it tells a story about a man who gives up drinking and roving.

    Can't you listen once!

  • @schusterlehrling ffs are you being bloody serious man?

people always go like "fuck im not drinking ever again!" and tomorrow were back at the bar hah

this song is in no fuckin way anti drinking man

  • @ArctanThardus

    "No, NAY, NEVER!!!

NO, NAY, NEVER, NO MORE" it is VERY clear about giving up to drink as the right thing to do.

And you are deaf if you can't hear that.

  • @schusterlehrling have you ever been to a bar and been drunk? and go like fuck im never drinking again?

yeah well thats what its about. besides, if you are such a great listener, then how come you didnt hear him saying he found money after all and he started drinking again?

shit your some sort of anti drinking bullshitter aint ya? why would you even come to an irish drinking song in the first place? piss off man

  • @ArctanThardus

    He does not drink.

the landlady offers it to him, and he replies:

    No nay never

    No nay never no-more

will I play the wild rover (ie drink), no nay never no-more.

So, very clarly, he gave up drinking.

Now plz quote the pesage in which he drinks again.

Sure it is a song about NOT being a wild rover, ie. no more drinking etc.

  • @schusterlehrling

"I took up from my pocket, ten sovereigns bright

And the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight

She says "I have whiskeys and wines of the best"

    there you go!

you sir, need to get out the house. go to a bar, i dunno. anything!

its just about some dude who got wasted and said hed never drink again. something every boozer out there can probably relate to :D

besides, again, if your so anti drinking, what the fuck are you doin here? your german ffs! go drink beer!

  • @ArctanThardus

Plz also note that his anwer to her offer is:

    NO NAY, NEVER!

No, nay, never, no more will I play the wild rover, no never no more.

that means clearly, repeated mayn times, that he REFUSES the drinks.

that's very clearly stated. Very claerly indeed.

He did not drink, but rather returned home.

You wouldn't return home and ask for pardon if u r drunk.

  • @schusterlehrling thats just the strofe (is it a strofe? i dont know the correct terms :D)

ah well you can see it as an anti-drinking song. ill stick to a drinking song :D

they do play it in bars though and everybody sings allong and drinks to it. no matter, as long as its fun, right?

  • @ArctanThardus "and i'll take you upstairs and show you the rest!!"

  • @RivermistClayYT aye that to! haha

  • i love this

  • sounds more like "the irish rovers"

  • The dubliners - Wild Rover

  • Who sang this version?

  • ta se go maith.

    great song

    long live the irish.
