Has anyone ever seen Duane Eddy and Lonnie Mack in the same room together? I've been watching Lonnie on YouTube of late and they bear a strong resemblance to each other. Beard, hat, facial features...just wonderin'.

It's good to see this. Duane was a major idol of mine in the late 50s to 60s.

I like gibson guitars for their quality and unique sound particularly classic 57 and P90 pickups. With this one I am intrigued as the guitar in this film clearly has 50's Dearmond (maybe Seymour reissue or even originals), on Gibson website the signature guitar shown has something that looks like P94's (P90 or a variant in a humbucker format). Any one can clarify?

I forgot to add on my last comment that I once thought I could play anything Duane could. That was before I ever heard him fingerpick. He's a great one.

I agree - I always enjoyed his big hits but thought he just did the single note, sort of surfy country stuff. But by golly, the man can really pick! I guess anyone that's collected his many albums knows that, and now we do too. God bless Youtube!

Nope. That was a Gibson, the one he now endorses. He started with a Guild, went with Gretsch, now with Gibson. They probably give him a 10% discount on his guitars! LOL.

I have most of his original LP's. I would say he started with a Gretsch Chet Atkins g6120 1956 (without the western decor but with Dearmond dynasonic pickups), then went to Guild (500DE still with dynasonics/Bigsby) around 1961/62 then difficult to tell as around 1975 he played a Gretsch again. Gibson is much later... Regardless of the make Duane Eddy has alwasy kept that unique twang sound on bridge pickup from dynasonic/fidelatone and a Bigsby with his signature handle...

hi again. I think so far the closest I heard was on a Gretsch G6120DSW (with dynasonics) equally on a Gretsch G6121W roundup (similar to duo jet) with dynasonic on a Fender Twin reverb or Bandmaster reverb (even better0.

I am quite sure he uses a Fender amp due to the unique vibrato effect (as on Twistin off a cliff)...

selector on bridge pick up and play not too far from the bridge (around the bridge pickup)... Hope this helps

I first heard Trambone on D.E.'s "Million Dollars Worth of Twang, Vol. 2." A friend came over (we were in 7th grade) and picked it like that, and I freaked out. I had found Chet's style! (I had already been a Duane Eddy fan siuce 1958!) Seeing Duane pick it brings tear to my eyes! Thank you!
