  • Sorry but American Idol viewers could neither understand nor appreciate Montserrat Caballe.

  • Simon Cowell is such a bastard. He would boo Maria Callas, who was perfection itself. Montserrat Caballe was a magnificent opera singer. "You gotta start looking like a star? " She was a star, and always looked like one. Today's stupid punks singing American Idol can't reach the operatic high notes to save their lives. Opera is real singing, pop music is not singing. It's garbage

  • This is simultaneously funny and reverent...Thank you for creating it and sharing it.

  • Who is the irritating twit with the artificial sounding British (poof) accent who was commenting on her appearance? Maybe I'm wrong, but was he attempting an Oscar Wilde persona? Okay for American Idol I suppose.

  • LOL this is funny but, I think Montserrat is WAY TOO good for American idol:)

  • This is genius!

  • Caballe isn't American.

  • @MrFalconford is Spanish, and have a exelente voice :D

  • GENIUS

  • Cabella is the best there ever was, but I'll have to admit who ever thought this up must be three hoots a day. Too cute!

  • American Idiot

  • Yes!

  • nice try tho

  • growing and growing ...

    and you've lost weight.

  • ok someone tell me where can i find the audio and or video from her singing ,:34- :46

  • What opera is this aria from?

  • ha! Thats just great!

  • lol, it took me like a minute to realize it was a joke.

  • LOL!

  • Caballe is above American Idol...it would be beneath her to sing for American Idol even if she was young. Opera is something American Idol will never understand because it's too high above them....I adore opera!

  • @AmericanEvita SO true. She is above that garbage and no, you're also right-American Idiot will never understand opera and classical music in general. God bless Monserrat!!

  • @AriaDivina Aria, maybe you might know what this aria is. I love Caballe but I don't know what opera she is singing here. It's clearly bel canto, could be Bellini or Donizetti. Let me know if you know what this exact aria/opera this is.

  • @AmericanEvita You better beleive it...

  • Love, "You've gotta have a word with whoever's dressing you at the moment."

  • I think this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Good job.

  • Thanks Opera46, I'm glad you liked it.

  • My pleasure jonedgar. I've watched it three times already and laughed out loud out each time. What's the piece that Ms. Caballe is singing?

  • It's from Aroldo, look at the earlier comments.

    Cheers,

    Jon

  • lol for a very very long moment I thought this is real XD

  • This is way out of context, but seriously, where can I see the footage of the performance (1:22) of Sinatra, Ross, Pavarotti, and Caballe? How awesome could that be? It could be terrible too, but one never knows.

  • They must have performed at the same event but I don't believe together! But I really don't know, just a stock photo off the web.

  • Well, I remember reading in a Sinatra biography that the four of them performed at some sort of benefit in 1984, so maybe they could of performed together, though it was probably pretty unlikely. Then again, we did have Sinatra and Bono and Caballe and Freddy Mercury, soooo, I suppose it could be probable.

  • Hahaha that's great. I just hope a classically-trained singer never goes on idol, because then Simon would actually have to give intelligent critiques, and anyway he'd probably fawn on the person.

  • he has no idea about good technique. Especially classical.

  • of course. but he'd try...and fail lol

  • I don't think he would. He knows he's not competent at assessing good technique, which is why he goes on about performance and dress so much :p

  • LOL at Paula comments about lost weight and Simon's about fashion. Great job.

  • la plus grande Diva apres Callas

  • Very funny!

  • this is so funny! A very entertaining idea, make more if you can :)

  • This is one of the most exciting cabalettas and her rendition is out of this world!

  • what aria is this?

  • ah fuggite! il mio spavento from Aroldo.
