Ceroc/Leroc is okay for beginners. I started on ceroc moves and then realised that lindy was the way forward: better footwork, more style, better to watch, more groove, more authentic....
When done well Ceroc still looks static and clumsy compared to good lindy hoppers.
Warren, Russell, Delores et al where are they now?
The jivin lindy hoppers are brilliant! and are probably responsible for reviving lindy in the uk. It seems Warren taught Simon Selmon, probably the most popular teacher in london...
Their sign off performance at bestival 2006 brought tears of joy to our eyes...and since we try to catch them at the festivals, shows, classes whenever possible. i wish they got to london more often....
AMAZING. My grandma told me she and my grandpa used to jive to In the Mood. People would put money in the jukebox just to watch them dance, they were really good^^
i love the Jiving Lindy Hoppers! They perform at my school too, nd they're have been teaching us this week! I have Caroline and she is an amazing dancer!
I presume from the comments that this is a British troupe. Whatever the case they're amazing, albeit I can't quite work out precisely what dance they're performing. I absolutely loathe Lindy Hop and don't much like Ballroom Jive, but this seems to be some kind of hybrid that's fascinating. Great entertainment.
I loathe the one and don't much like the other, as I thought I'd made clear. I don't dislike jive per se, though. I'm totally hooked on Ceroc (French Modern Jive) and devote three evenings a week to it.
The point of roots, of course, being to remain unseen. As I thought I'd long ago made clear, I like this troupe's routine and the ladies' actions here don't appear unduly unsightly. On very many clips featuring the Lindy Hop, however, the actions of the ladies are grotesque. Still, each to his own. Even female wart hogs must look attractive to males of their species. You know, I am actually entitled to dislike something and to state that fact (aren't I ?).
What I said (and it was in relation to other Lindy clips, not this one) was that it was the actions of the dancers that I found grotesque, not the dancers themselves. I do try not to be rude on a personal level. However, I can't see how I could personally offend a dance. There's no point in my saying I dislike something without explaining why. Because I find the actions of Lindy dancers often grotesque, that's the reason why I dislike the dance. I also dislike celery, but not celery eaters.
yeah they come to my school too, they only go to three schools in the UK, they're all such nice guys! teresa and carolyn are teaching my group this year, our dance is soo good! we're performing tonight and tomorrow (i'm pretty nervous haha)
i saw these jivers at the UKA bash in blackpool on june 2007 they were the best dancers i have ever seen, well done to you all............from a friend at the table...yours xxx
brilliant just brilliant, and so much better than this really slow lindy everyone seems to be doing at the moment!!!!

They're dancing Lindy.
FYI - this is the group that is chiefly responsible for bringing Lindy back into the UK (around 25 years ago, I believe)
We owe a lot to these guys.

Oh, they're the ones we have to blame are they? Maybe they'll go on to do the same fot the Military Two-step and the Lancashire Clog Dance.

@Czerniakowska
No - they're amongst the ones you should be thanking. Or are you unaware that even your beloved Ceroc has its roots in Lindy?

Czerniakowska - I have no problem with your likes or dislikes - just with the way you express them.
It is actually possible to say that you don't like something *without* being rude about it.
