Illustrator only let me select the square rectangle tool and it is not possible to select the circle.

I wonder if anyone can help me. When I go to export this, the big ellipse at the top that creates the lighting effect is exported too - so the png is a transparent background but to the top left of the badge there's a low opacity oval visible. If I fill the background with a colour and lower the trnasparency, it doesn't show up within Illustrator, only when I export it.

At 11:18 you say to select the fill, but HOWWWWW? I tried clicking inside the shape, clicking shift and dragging the mouse to surround the whole object, but nothing is working. When I try to add the stroke, it's only adding it to the top shine. How do I select the whole badge? Ohhh frustrating. I can't even do a basic thing like make a selection. Please explain Nathaniel!!

@WmAlvis What you want to do is create a mask.

What you need to do is select the OBJECT from the layer panel and press ctrl/cmd +c to copy it.

Next, select the GLOW from the layer panel. Click on the "Transparency" panel tab and double-click in the blank gray area next to the box on the left. A black box will appear, this is your mask. Press Ctrl/cmd +f to paste the OBJECT in FRONT. next, you need to change the pasted object's fill color to WHITE to SHOW the glow in the masked area.

Voila!

How did you change the color to white for the glow without affecting the fill of the badge? You press a button on the keyboard at 7:19 just before you say "So we are quickly go ahead and..." I tried to change the color but the fill changes. I even tried to put on a new layer.
