These are really helpful videos, i ride a cbf125 and want to take my bike test, but i have been stumbled by an oil slick last sunday, some one hit me, and i came off on a wet drain cover, all over the space between septemebr and now. i am getting more confident, but wondered if you have any videos that may help me at all? or know of anyways of imroving skills and controlling skids on roundabouts on diesel? if its possible. many thanks
Hello Nigel , thanks a lot for all this invaluable videos / information . I guess you would like Asturias ( north of Spain ) for we have a lot of bends and wonderful landscapes to ride .
When i´ll improve my english i´ll would like to take a course in UK .
Thanks for posting the vids. I was trying to follow the lines through the corners. I understand the looking ahead and planing for the next corner. I liked the throttle and speed control. However I could not pick up what line the rider was choosing on some of the bends it just seemed to be middle of the lane and following the curve.
Do you know of a relatively nice 125cc first bike? I've applied for my cbt, and am now looking for a 125cc bike, any suggestions with a reason will be great.
Thanks again AdvancedBiker. Just a suggestion - would it be possible to either verbally or on screen mention the road speeds involved, and (less useful) but also the gears?
Brilliant clip Nigel. Think you should use your helmet camera abit more often as it gives a better perspective and you are able to see more of the information that your gathering. Both riders seem to have got there spped spot on for those bends, and you highlighted the importance of using cross views were they are available.
I am realising that using the helmet cam does give better perspective. I do have a problem with it at presen, radio inteference, but nearly at end of season, I have some new cameras and thoughts about repositioning the radio.
A very informative Video, with good visual .Would prefer text lower and slighly smaller. Bikers who are out on observer days can do hot debrief when they get back, then see what the observer is passing comment on. Brings it all together.Pulling in off line when approaching traffic, comming in about 18 inches but observer stated different, the pan is a bit wider, When looking at vids of advanced biker it all clicked together.
It's nice to see you emphasizing paying attention to lane positioning, road features, correct gear and throttle control than just having a strict adherence to speed limits and nothing else. It's no wonder many people have little knowledge of riding a motorcycle. Thanks for all the vids, Nigel.
Good instructional & informative footage, yet again.
In answer to the comments, from those who think staying out on bends puts them in danger. The whole idea is to get an early view this way if a vehicle is going to cut the corner you either see it or anticipate it and adjust your posdition accordingly. Remember dont sacrifice safety for position. Use the system it works!!!
Very interesting, I too wasn't keen on the scrolling text, I think the fonts were slightly too big for the picture. I fully appreciate the theory behind all this, and agree with it, but as someone who covers many miles each week, 3:50 Im also aware of people cutting corners on tight bends such as these, and therefore worry that by staying too close to the white lines in the middle of the road, you could put yourself in a position of danger, especially if oncoming traffic don't see you. 5*
I put it together sing Microsoft Movie Maker, if you think the concept works, I will do another version and tidy it up in terms of type and presentation of text.
good footage again nigel, but have you noticed lately how many HGV on roads like that are cutting bends, i think i would have stayed a little further from the lines on the tighter left handers. all good though.
thanks.
many more vids like this and i wont need a 1 to 1 :)
I wheeled my 105mph Suzuki 250R through my front gate on the morning of my 16th birthday.
No training and I'm still here enjoying my biking 39 years later.
I fully realize that you are only trying to help learners but this is namby pamby, over the top, PC crap.

Read Roadcraft with an open mind. If you can master the workings of the 'system', then everything else falls into place,
Good Luck

Thanks for the feedback.
125's big choice, types and most important prices. The Motorcycle Show is coming up at the NEC at the end of the month. May be worth a visit.
What do you fancy, Trail type, or normal street bike ?
advancedbiker 2 years ago
street bike, I'll take a look at the bike show.
