So far the Klitschko brothers are dominant and that is because neither one of them has been in tough competitive fights even though they have strength but they can be vulnerable if someone stronger were to come along and test them. That is why the Klitschko vs. Haye fight is the only big fight left of major importance since the days of Tyson, Holyfield and Lewis.
Another thing to note is the Heavyweight division is so dull and boring right now that I believe anyone can emerge and take it if they try and are serious enough to win. As a matter of fact I may be wrong in my predicting the future of Heavyweight boxing but after the Klitschko's leave, I can see the Heavyweight division continue to struggle for some years to come until someone else that we have not heard of or seen yet emerges from all the mess to capture the attention of the boxing world.
Heavyweight boxing needs a tournament much like Showtime cable network has done with the Super Six Middleweight Boxing Classic to determine a legit single unified champion. Even HBO had a tournament years ago when Tyson was around in the 80's and it proved to be successful. More tournaments like this is needed in boxing to clear up the mess with all these titles and multiple champions and instead have one single champion like it was back in the day but should be interesting to see what happens.

It's not only because russians are more ambitious and americans switched to more locative sports. That's a very simple way of looking at things. Without Valuev all soviet ellite heavyweights were in state-aided sponsorship scheme for athletes of former Soviet Union. I'm not convinced by socialism but it was the best support for serious sport of all time. That guys had a much better basic training and support as early as amateurs as our guys.

Yes Klitschko is a technically good boxer with a good jab, but he is very limited. He has a one dimensional style and wouldn't be able to compete with great heavyweights. In saying that, he seems like a very genuine and respectful guy and is above all other heavyweights at the moment. So far the Klitschko brothers are dominant and that is because neither one of them has been in tough competitive fights even though they have strength but they can be vulnerable if someone stronger were to come along and test them. That is why the Klitschko vs. Haye fight is the only big fight left of major importance since the days of Tyson, Holyfield and Lewis.

Another thing to note is the Heavyweight division is so dull and boring right now that I believe anyone can emerge and take it if they try and are serious enough to win. As a matter of fact I may be wrong in my predicting the future of Heavyweight boxing but after the Klitschko's leave, I can see the Heavyweight division continue to struggle for some years to come until someone else that we have not heard of or seen yet emerges from all the mess to capture the attention of the boxing world.

Heavyweight boxing needs a tournament much like Showtime cable network has done with the Super Six Middleweight Boxing Classic to determine a legit single unified champion. Even HBO had a tournament years ago when Tyson was around in the 80's and it proved to be successful. More tournaments like this is needed in boxing to clear up the mess with all these titles and multiple champions and instead have one single champion like it was back in the day but should be interesting to see what happens.

It's not only because russians are more ambitious and americans switched to more locative sports. That's a very simple way of looking at things. Without Valuev all soviet ellite heavyweights were in state-aided sponsorship scheme for athletes of former Soviet Union. I'm not convinced by socialism but it was the best support for serious sport of all time. That guys had a much better basic training and support as early as amateurs as our guys.

And heavy weight champions means holders of the 4 major organizations: WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO.)
63%- is the number of African American heavyweight champions from 1920 to 2008. Not as high a number as I had 'guessed' but still represents the largest denomination by far.

Yes Klitschko is a technically good boxer with a good jab, but he is very limited. He has a one dimensional style and wouldn't be able to compete with great heavyweights. In saying that, he seems like a very genuine and respectful guy and is above all other heavyweights at the moment. But the likes of Valuev, Ibragimov, Liakovich, Maskaev etc. are not worth mentioning - they are total bums!

They're all overrated. Deep down most fans know it. And let's not forget styles make fights too. Wasn't Ali saved by his corner against the pathetic Henry Cooper ? Cooper! the guy who almost changed boxing history after knocking Ali on his ass in the 5th. If it wasn't for ali's smart move to gain some time by changing the gloves..he woulda been fucked. r u serious? i couldnt begin to tell u how many fighters who got KOd early in their careers. one punch dont change a whole era. if u understood boxing u would see dat these guys dont have d same skills fighters had before. wlad is okey wit his size, straight punches n power. but he's not great n wouldnt be much more than a contender in other eras. n d contenders of today would be clubfighters. maskaev, chagaev n valuev r complete trash

speaking of rahman. No matter how worthless or overrated that cunt was. That didn't stop him from still KOing Lennox. Of course "shit happens" , like it did with brewster & wlad. Still , Maskaev even won the rematch 7 years later. Lennox on the other hand , like klitschko , had to have a rematch to be even. Speaking of Lennox. Tyson was lucky to dominate a very poor era (the 80's). An era where no such forces as the likes of lennox or whites like vitali were part of the scene.

is there a point somewhere? d 80s r about as good an era for HWs as today is. its a bridge period. there were some good fighters but d division was very shalow. dats it today, wlad is good, but nobody else even gets in shape to fight, its embarassing to watch. dat dont mean wlad sucks, it means d division duz. look at peter being looked at as a threat just cuz hes physicly strong. but hes fat, slow n has no skills at all. in any other era hed be a journeyman

Let me tell you something about Foreman. The guy got beat in his prime by the ultra one dimensional Jimmy Young. Jimmy fuckin' young. (not to mention that overrated bum even found a way to go to a decision even against Ali). Foreman vs Young , that was in 77. They're all fucking overrated. well actually is was born in the UdssR.but as u might now, the UdssR doesnt exist any longer. his family moved to the ukraine someday (his father was in the military and the klitschko family moved very often from 1 place to another)

His father had to move very often with his family, but their home was Kiev/Ukraine and they are of ukrainian ethnicity. Russia was a republic within the USSR, so was Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia or Kazakhstan where Wladimir was born. USSR is not and never was equal to russia, russia was just a part of it. And I cannot stand it when people assume whoever lived in the Soviet Union is russian.
