And by the way, why it would be such a big deal if Aish or any other talented actress dances this song, it doesn't belong to Madhubala, and yes she was graceful, great actress and very beautiful, but dancing was not one of her stronger points. So why couldn't a talented girl perform it. It is so stupid that kind of "exclusivity".

After watching both umrao Jaan I have to say I like Ash better than rekha. Rekha was def not as good looking ... but its also obvious that Ash feels more for the part than rekha ... of course when we see something before we become partial to that and what ever comes next is faulty .....

I don't think Ash got the credit she deserved for this role.

We all make the mistake of comparing the tqo movies. But when you look at them both you see that the two movies have two approaches. rekha was better suited because of her sex appeal ... she portrayed the character in a different way

Ash on the other hand is so beautiful and innocent looking ... so her portrayal of the character was different. When you compare both approaches of acting ... basically theres no difference

@cutegal2402 Actually there is. Rekha is all about expressions. If you look at Rekha's Umrao, the lady did not wear expensive jwellery, clothes, nor did she work in elaborately designed sets. In fact Rekha's Umrao was an extremely low budget movie. Her clothes were bought in whole sale market in Lukhnow and were made by tailors across the street. But what strikes out in her is her expressions, and that is why only she can win the prestigious national award for Umrao.

To those debating Rekha vs. Aishwarya... I can't decide yet b/c I'm still waiting to see the '81 version... And I'm sort of betting I like this one better (and no, not ONLY because I love Abhi Bachchan). I think sometimes it's a matter of which you see first. If you were totally blown away by '81, you'd hate '06. Vice versa is probably also true. So... I don't think you can really judge.
