  • must be kidding 130Amps through such a thin wires... any IDEA of what cable seccion you'd need for 130Amps at 12 or even 24V???

  • Don't they have testers used to check powerlines that might be easier to use without the worry of frying it?

  • uuh that sounded like the batterys vented :(

  • I like your work Dan.. keep it up brother!!

  • Is that a GTI or a regular inverter? Thought we were'nt suppose to hook up a battery directly to GTIs?

  • @BigBearHuskyMusher GTI and you are not for usage. This was a test only. If you hook to a battery they draw a max load and drain ASAP. They can be hooked for a short cycle test or one load dump.

  • can i use this for a rv ......

  • perfect

  • Where did you buy this from and how much do they cost?

  • very nice product , with big blue clear text amp , voltage , ect , wow it better like Digital Multimeter for testing small battery and consumption , it a little expensive 60$ but , it the easy reading gadget

  • We want Denise!

  • Dan, do you think I can use this on a small wind turbine to see what its producing>

    thanks

  • hi dan ive watched alot of yours and other vids. pertaining to wind turbines and there was one that you made that explained the bridge diode rectifier rather detailed and if i remember you even told us what diodes to find ...i cant seem to find that video anymore and was hopeing you could make another that went into details there. and maybe what sort of electronics would have such diodes for salvage. thanks for all the other great and FREE info you are a valued source.

  • Cool Thanks for the info Dan

  • These are $25 from Hobbyking (google search) And shipping to the states is quick. Don't pay more for this item!

  • turnigy makes good stuff, and yeah ordering anything rc from overseas, it late becuase of customs find it local so much better on shipping, hobbyking sucks for shipping

  • Way off subject here I know,, but out of curiosity, do you still have that harbor freight set up, if so does it still work? And what do you run with it? IM about to get my first one, they have em for 169 right now, and IM pretty excited!!!

Cool video here, and thanks for sharing bud.

    Thumbs UP!

  • I wasn't trying to scold you or anything, just wanted you to be informed for future reference. If you ever have electrical questions feel free to message me.

Its like when a kid sees his parents smoke cigarettes, but then get's told not to because they're bad for you. No they're not that bad, cause look they smoked for 20 years and are doing just fine. I'm sure you get the point. Just let your many viewers know, If you're gonna do it "wrong" at least be safe about it. Thanks.

  • Dan, it's very important that when you run wires in tandem to accommodate higher amperage than the single wire can handle, that you be absolutely certain that all wires run in tandem are the exact same length and gauge, otherwise electricity will take the path of least resistance, the shorter wire, unbalancing the load and potentially overheating the wire. (I'm an electrician) Any time you do something like this you must inform us of such hazard, or we'll think its ok since it worked for you.

  • i like that it reads amp hours, that tell you how deep the pool of power is ( how long it can last )

i need one of those ;o)

  • How or where could i get a watt meter like that?

  • @wolfman19791812 At the RC hobby shop, if you order it from china you can get them cheap. Search for hobbyking in Hongkong

  • I have wanted a device like this for years! Thanks for the video!

  • If you have problems with high voltage, you can install a shunt. Then just remember that the voltGE IS REALLY 10X WHAT IT REALLY SHOWS.

  • Hey Dan, I saw some guys post a video on youtube of them making a VAWT out of a steel barrel. I've been able to get a few motors (1.1kw, 575w) out of a treadmill and a washing machine and I was wondering if you could make an instructional video showing how to put something together like they did (with the bridge rectifier info, bearings parts list).

  • I am building an electric car using a 42k watt AC motor motor and using 84v worth of batteries, is there one of these for the larger that can handle all the amps and voltage that will be drawn, the math says 550 amps at max draw, which worries me as well... any advice??

  • @mobius1ace5 Sounds like an amazing project. For the Amps I would consider a clamp meter. They go up to 1000 amps I think.

  • @mobius1ace5 That DOES sound amazing. First of all, I dunno why you chose AC over DC for this, but I'm sure you have a good reason, otherwise it doesn't make sense. Second of all, 550 amps is ENORMOUS. You'll need 1000kcmil wires to handle that, and those wires are have more girth than ron jeremy's cock. I recommend using a higher voltage motor so you don't fry your wires, other wise you'll need like 300 pounds of copper wiring. google "wire gauge, amps", click the first thing that pops up.

  • @mobius1ace5 This Turnigy Amp meter is made for RC planes and other RC toys. If you need it just for measurements, and not as a display, I would advise you to go for a decent clamp meter, and with decent I mean the functions, not the prize. There are very expensive precision clamp meters on the market with very low tolerance, but you don't need one of those. A clamp meter is is very practical to use, no need to hook up wires, and that saves a lot of time and work.

  • Dan, love your videos.

Just gonna say- test your meter. My is 350 ma off (low). Not a big deal on the load side of things, but with essentially a built in 4 watt error, mine is useless for testing the generation of electricity by small solar panels. Check out the "watts up" and "Doc Watson" meters made by RC electronics. I have two of them. They only disagree with my fluke meter (and each other) by about 2ma. Plus, they're made in America! Anyway check them out.......

  • nice new toy

  • 130amp at what voltage?

  • @RelyOnYourselfTV top DC voltage is 60 volts.

  • I got to get one for my new RC project's .

  • @MrFlench I know it's can be difficult to judge from a photo I can,'t see the leads going to the meter handling 130 amps either. Not even the 65 amps the specs at the ebay page would be too much as well

  • @westkan watch?v=-CNJ5PzFcCo

  • Your saying that device can handle 50V at 130amp? so your saying it will show 6500watts? To get even 24volts at 50 amps you'll need battery cables for wires, how big are the connecting wires on the unit itself?

  • I can't hear you over the Vuvuzuellas

  • Never mind how long it's taking, think how much you manage to saved

  • Cool Dan! Have you bought any other goodies from HobbyKing? I buy from them all the time for all my RC stuff. Are you into RC? If so what have you built or plane to build?

  • Its not on most multi-meters because you don't usually need to know your watts. Plus most people can do the math in their head.

  • this is for rc for testing lipo batteries and brushless systems

  • Good info.

  • 5th

  • Nice, wonder why multi-meters do not have this feature?

  • Nice unit, not bad for 50 bucks

  • thanks! i always get exited when i see your videos in my subscription box

  • @Acornoa I feel excited when he is inside my box also

  • That may be fine for bench testing, but would it handle being hooked up to a running car with a 140 amp alternator?

  • @june201955 130 AMP max. If the alternator is not peaking above 130 amps it would be fine.
