Haha what you missed is Hellsing Ultimate! The first Hellsing came out before the manga was finished, and thus had a completely different storyline. And so when the manga was finished they made Hellsing Ultimate, which is like 1000 times better! :D

How can you not know that? *sigh* Either way, Hellsing Ultimate is pretty much the best gothic Anime ever made but if you become a fan then prepare to be in it for the long-haul. The last episode came out one and 1/2 years after the one before it. It is made by Madhouse (that's the studio) and is an adaptation of a Manga to Anime. There was a previous hellsing series which was not as good as ultimate and didn't follow the manga.
