sigh I wish our town had some rescue trucks like these. They look like it could go thru anything, snow, rain or whatever. We have these shitty 25 yo ambulances.
Jacksonville Fire Rescue has some of these too. They're sweet! And they are functional btw. The back seats have SCBAs like an engine. Plus it allows students to ride up front. If the department can afford them why not? You critics would love the way they drive, not to mention the size of the box. Plenty of room to move comfortably
@FDNYresponsechannel Yelp has a point, have you seen the size of paramedics in this country? Fat egotistical pricks. I am a paramedic firefighter and ill tell you all day there is no need for a rig this big, just makes the para-gods egos inflate more.
@jay2ggod lol and if you so happen to work with L.A. City Fire, you got ladder trucks responding to medical calls, along with the pumper, and rescue. Thats not counting the other 3 stations that will be hot lapping the incident! OVerKill!
@ArmyRescue1 I'm a Florida Firefighter, and in my deptartment, we have eight engines and 7 full time firefighter and volunteers. We always have a engine respond to every medical call, our back up for when a engine isn't available, it's down to squad or rescue truck.
Well federal singal ss2000 smart siren.Whats next police cars sounding like fire trucks lol sike. But alot of police officers in the country use whelen 295hfsa1 sirens especially ny state i know im from syracuse ny
It takes roughly 5-6 minutes once you call 911 for emergency personal to arrive (depending on the location). About 1 minute to leave (which they meet, there rolling at :51) and 3-4 minutes to arrive.
So, if your saying your dead, tough shit. No one was going to save you anyway, unless you were expecting god to help, and since you said you'd be dead by now I guess he didn't help.
some departments like the one im an explorer at have them because one there used as a rescue and two can carry more eauipment and also be able to transport more patients then having to call for another ambulance.but at my deparment we are not allowed to transport just treat then EVAC takes over.
Just some info: there really is no such thing as a "police" siren per se, its just an electronic siren. You hear them more often in smaller ambulances and police cars because they are cheaper, smaller, and draw way less power than mechanical sirens. I'm not arguing with 911caddy, he is very right, I'm just throwing some info out there.
So maybe someone can answer this, why use such a HUGE ambulance? We use county provided ambulances(with personnel) which are based off the Dodge and Ford chassis. They work very well. I was told that ambulance service is just a money pit. Money gets spent but nothing comes back. Atleast not enough. So what's the point in gigantic ambulances with four doors?
The amber lights are called "Traffic Advisers" as previous noted they change direction (telling the cars behind which direction to travel in. However, 9 times out of 10, their just there because the fire trucks will block lanes off. And if you wish to get around an accident then you'll have to go to a clear lane.
In addition to that, police cars park farther back, close lanes, put flares, cones, etc there. So, usually you see the amber lights remaining in that configeration.
because there jus amber caution sticks for traffic....say if they're parked on a major highway or something they can change the light pattern so traffic kno's which side too goto....im pretty sure thats the only color they come in anyway...
Actually, one company makes a traffic adviser that has both amber LED's and other colors in the same lighthead, so you can use it for a response mode with say red and blue light showing and then switch it to caution mode when you arrive on scene.
These engines are so beautiful because this is the main training facility, and the busiest (personal opinion). Station 100, 84, and 19 aren't as busy, but they all get their fair share.
@joedaniells actually you are wrong... it has NOTHING to do with being "big americans" it is because these ambulances are actually called rescues and have FULL ALS capability as well as carrying most of the tools and equipment that the engine has on it... including (on the larger ones ) 6 FF's or medics...

The rescue is using a Whelen siren. Not a police siren. It is very common on many emergency vehicles across North America.
