  • Its a nice feature with the ability to connect the CDJ-400 to Scratch Live via Usb, the only thing that annoys me is the fact that i still need to buy the Rane Soundcard. Expensive, and no Midi...

  • u got sum good videos

  • that serato(?) system looks immense! i need to get me one of those...

  • MIDI is an acronym for musical instrument digital interface. Nice vid brian. keep up the good work!

  • That guy was funny. He totally didn't get your joke. Probably burnt out from the show. Great informative vid. one question though, If you connect your cdj 400's this way do you get your effects back since there is no time code cd?

  • Yeah Jay got it. HA!

  • Nice video... thank Brian!!!

    DJ Mikey Mike

  • Serato: Music Management...is the KEY!!!

  • The CDJ-400 and Serato SL are comaptable because of SW upgrades to both. SSL is controlled by the 400 when you use the PC mode on the 400 and the appropriate sw version of SL, 1.8<.

    DJSL, any questions????

  • Hy,

Serato with CDJ 400 as Controller is working with HID Protocol. So, it is not Midi in use.

There are few CDJ´s out, that support HID, but no idea, if it works with Serato. But you can control Serato since 1.8.1 with Midi. If your CDJ supports Midi, it should work, BUT: With Midi you have not the Track Title...etc in the Display of the CDJ. That is only aHID feature.

VDJ supports HID for many Controllers/CDJ´s too and Traktor Pro don´t have HID Function. Hope, it helped.

  • Shame they didn't introduce any new products.

  • There are some new interfaces that'll be covered in the next video

  • kind of boring-that Pioneer guy wasn't all too knowledgeable

  • Jay is actually very knowledgable on Pioneer Pro DJ products among other things

  • Hahaha vanilla ice? what the hell, Nice vidoe...

    have fun bro!

    SJS.

  • can t understand wuts up with the djm 700 midi light controller ? how is it possible can u mix and control light in the same time ? and btw djm is expensive for a light controller so is it useless ?

  • The DJM700 can send MIDI commands out to a light controller who then in turn converts it into DMX commands. This means that if you're not using some buttons/sliders on your mixer you can assign them to control lights if you want.

Keep an eye on my youtube channel, I will post a video this weekend on MIDI and how to do the same thing without using a light controller but the uDMX cable instead.

  • so to make sure i understood ! djm 700 4 chanels right? ok then if u are mixin 2 tracks ll take channel 1 and 2 as an example can u assign 3 and 4 to the built in midi to control light? cuz m not using triggers on 3 and 4..

ll be waitin for ur vids!

  • I think it's actually 8 channels, but you get 4 faders at a time. Each fader is switchable for 2 different channels (Ex: Fader 1 controls channels 1 & 2, Fader 2 controls channels 3 & 4, etc)

As far as how it works, yeah, you can do music and lights at the same time. The particulars are still not very clear to me as I have not looked into it that close, but you get the idea.

  • It's possible. Maybe we can look into this further in Vegas.

Yes, Pioneer gear is expensive compaired to entry level gear. This is why it's called Pro Audio and not Consumer Electronics.

  • Uesless? No, USEFULL!

  • no i meant if it was only workin for lights . tough i could mix and control light at the same time (in this case usefull,, but if only controlling light with its price :S useless.) thanks b.

  • It'll do lights and sound at the same time

  • as brian is saying, the DJM 700 and 800 can act as midi controllers but any of their buttons and knobs continue to perform their regular function at the same time.

For example, if you map something to a channel fader, sliding this fader will affect the sound of the channel AND whatever you want it to control AT THE SAME TIME.

So basically, mixers are not very good midi controllers but could help for simple stuff.
