  • Lol Simon Lipkin is my wannabe father :P

  • the guy puppeteer who controls nicky is very hott just saying :P

  • it sucks to be any of these people singing

  • @mmr3229 the soundtrack is diffrent depending on if its OBC or not and they had to slightley cencer because of the event

  • julie's new album - NO SPACE FOR AIR - Will be available on 06.06.10

Only a few spaces left for her launch concert at the Delfont Room, Prince of Wales Theatre - 7pm - 6th June 2010.

  • what does this have to do with needy children?

  • 'Children In Need' is a yearly fund raising event the BBC does. Performers and the famous entertain the public, and we donate millions of pounds in total by the end of the night which gets distributed to various kids charities and projects.

That is what this has to do with needy children.

  • she cut Nicky off while he was taking 3: thats mean xD love this performance

  • i was shocked to find Avengue q on children in need when seeing their other stuff

  • Julie Atherton... *swoons*

I've got her singing fine fine line in one of my vids... check the profile, she's AWESOME!!!

  • Julies amazing!

  • OMG she swore on children in need? thats not allowed i swear ...

  • they bleeped it out kinda... and its tamer than what she usually says...

  • still how about the little kids in the audience

  • if the feature was on after 9 o'clock theres nothing they can do about it

  • i like the interview anyway lool

  • the young ones must be asleep on their parent's lap :)

  • well normally the word was f"@k but they changed it to shit so it wasn't that bad :P

  • they could've used crap or man. man is REALLY clean lol

  • I dont partuiculy see why they needed to change it, im british and its not like i couldnt unterstand the broadway lyrics :P

  • i know, same here - but im an aussie :P

  • I really love Jon Robyns and Simon Lipkin. They're the best. xD

  • If by the blonde guy you mean Barrett Foa (2nd Broadway Rod/Princeton), I agree! Though John Tartaglia will always be my favorite Rod/Princeton. Though I disagree w/ the rest of your comment, I think the original Broadway cast was much better, especially because they were all professional puppeteers and these actors were not. The puppeteers give the characters much more depth in the OBC.

  • is that Stephanie D'Abruzzo cos she fitt

  • No, that's not Stephanie D'Abruzzo, the only actor from the original Broadway cast in this is Ann Harada, who played Christmas Eve (the Japanese woman)

  • is simon lipkin gay???? sorry if that sounds dumb but i have not been an avenue q fangirl for very long. =]

  • na hes not, I got to meet him last night ( =D ) coz my mate knows hes girl friend...

ps, dw, it wasnt a stupid question

  • no simon in't gay

  • What's with the different lyrics? I mean "Chinese restaurant" and pretty much all of Gary's verse.

  • It was changed so the British audience could understand/enjoy it more.

I'm NOT being racist (no pun intended.). Thst's what it said on the Avenue Q website.

Yes I am such a dork that I went on their website.

  • @Rockoloid We have no Korean Delis here in Great Brittannia, and Diff'rent Strokes never aired. We just know Coleman's story.

  • claire foster is an amazing actress

  • is one of the guys tha guy hu plays kermit the frog

  • Is Simon Lipkin married?

  • Sian Lloyd could read my weather chart any time, phwoar!

  • I think its because it was for Children in Need, and whether or not they sensor the word, it can still be heard live- and you can still read her lips- 'shit' is considered a less severe rude word then 'fuck'.

Also, there has been occasion when theyve been unsucessfull in bleeping the word- take, for example, the Royal Variety Performance not too long after this, when she shouted the scripted 'fuck', and the sensorship people didnt manage to bleep it in time!!

  • Heh It was sweet at the end when Princeton apologized to Kate and then put his arm round her. ^_^

  • isn't the asian girl the same in both...

because this is Ann harada... and she was Christmas eve in broadway too...

    puzzling

  • It's not horrible...but they interpretted quite differently compared to other casts on acting. Brian slightly annoys me cuz of the way he sings... and i think kate needs to open her mouth more. She sounds like a baby. And nicky was ok, but nobody can beat Christian Anderson and Rick Lyon! And yes, I do hope they didn't change the lyrics. It sounds offbeat and somewhat awkward...

  • totally! i love christmas eve and nicky in this cast!

  • me too

  • How did i miss this.

  • Broadway and the West End are actually quite different in themselves. Origionally, Avenue Q was the same in both places, but the British are different to the Americans, and they had to change the script slightly to suit a new audience. It's still fantstic though! (I've seen the origional and the edited version in the West End)

  • why is "gary"s bit different in the West end version to the broadway version? Anyone? and i dont just mean in the west end its a guy, i mean the words are different

  • Aparrantly London has some different things in Q, Mimm42.Look on WIkipedia for what

  • I think that the girl who plays Kate MOnster in this edition is awesome, but I wish they got a girl to play gary. Oh, well. Great video.

  • a girl understudies gary on the west end. she was quite good when i saw her.

  • YAY for Simon. <333

Avenue Q is the best damn show ever.

I like the way Jack Black pops up at the end.. xD

  • I disagree about this being the better cast. Brian is very stagey (more than necessary) Voices are fine, but...the boys are cuter. Are the guys not singing live? Blah.

  • Well if you look at a video...I dunno where it is. But if you watch it, it's the same song. The difference is that they are offbeat and the Brian there doesn't even know how to sing

    Flythe

  • Yes they are singing live. They've all got hair mikes on, you can see them.

  • i get 2 play christmas eve in this song! i love it!

  • i love Avenue q!! ive seen it twice! and love it. the west end cast are WAAAAY better than the broadway, i think.

  • THIS IS AWSOME I LOVE AVENUE Q and it was for a good cause!

  • simon lipkinnnn!!!

  • Im gonna see Avneue Q THIS FRIDAY!!! (25th May 2007) Can't wait! I'm WAY TOO excited!!!

  • this show is amazing, I saw it late April and I LOVED IT!

  • Thank you :)

My birthday is the 3rd of July xD

  • ...I really dislike the fact that they use a man in the West End version to portray Gary Coleman. Anyway, maybe they decided to give the role to a man since they did edit some of the show.

  • I think it's good that they changed Gary's lines for the Brits!

  • oh my god what talent it must take those people! they look the the muppets on tv the way they move like that! wow! I've never seen avenu Q before, only heard of it, but now i wanna see more! that is amazing how the actors when they were talking to the hosts, they still moved the puppets mouths and made them do gestures, just off the top of their heads! wow!!

  • I'm going to see this on my 16th Birthday

I hope Simon is there still :(

I'm in the middle of the 4th row, most expensive seats there :D I'm so excited.

I love the orignal broadway cast (I downloaded the whole performance they did :x) but I must say the London cast is much better looking

    Although

John T is amazing at Rod... then again I like Jon too.. haha that sounds silly. Anyway go Avenue Q :D

  • well yes

  • Did anyone else see Tenacious right at the end

  • Definitely a unique take on this song! I have a question, though. Why so many changes in the lyrics? Was it so the British audience could get more of the jokes (Avenue Q is full of US culture), or what?

  • Sorry, I cant help you there. I pretty much know nothing about Avanue Q. I've seen a couple of the US public performances of this song, and personally I prefer our cast, but then again, I've only seen a couple of examples of the US and UK cast. What are the lyric alterations you spotted (I saw the US vids a while ago)? I agree that its most likely so we get the Brit versions of the jokes, and basically use the British terms.

    Anyone know?

  • They changed kate's bleeped out line from the American line "Fuck!" to "Shit!". They also changed the asian woman's line from "try to work in korean deli" to "try to work in chinese restaurant". They pretty much rewrote gary coleman's lines from scratch. The American version is "I'm Gary Coleman, from TV's different strokes. Made a lot of money that got stolen by my folks. Now I'm broke, and the butt of everyone's jokes. But I'm here, the super intendent, of avenue q.

  • Hmmm, cool. I can see why they changed the chinese restaurant one, that works. But an interesting thing about kate's swearing, is that she did say fuck on the RVP- and they didnt manage to bleep it fully!!! Thanks for the info.

  • @nikkitricks I prefer the British Coleman's lines; the Diff'rent Strokes reference is a bit off. Plus "the cutest black kid on TV" is miles funnier.

  • @GrimdourTheRampager I couldn't agree more... and this is coming from an American for god sakes! "My life was over when I hit puberty- but I'm here, fixin' the toilets on Avenue Q!" This was the kind of humor that made me fall in love with the play in the first place... THANK YOU LONDON CAST!

  • Avenue Q is a brilliant musical, I saw it last night (23/3/07) at the Noël Coward Theatre in London and it was well worth the £20. I recommend everyone to go and see it, top draw performance!

  • I think Stephanie D'Abruzzo does a better Kate Monster, but Julie Atherton is a better Lucy.

  • I agree.

  • I'm kinda pretty, and pretty damn smart...

    Gotta love this.

  • i fink soo 2 there much betta

  • The songs I've heard from the English cast are better than the ones I've heard from the original cast... At least I think so ^^

    I love this song!

And Simon Lipkin is so cute! X3

  • the puppets are nicer built

  • I'm glad they had Ann Harada do Eve. She does it the best in my opinion.

  • They cut out enough parts to not make it worth it to see live, but the person playing Kate is really good.

  • ....

    ...nothing beats the OBC?

  • very funny.

  • (<cont)I will not remove negative comments which give a good reason, or make a decent point, but I will remove others which do not have a point to make apart from dissing this cast. You have been warned.

  • Can I just remind people that this is the British cast, they will not be the same as the OBC, and you shouldn't expect that or take that as standard. They will have worked out themselves how they want to perform, the way they want to play the characters, so saying that this cast is substandard to the OBC is ignorant, as well as disrespectful.

If I see any more comments along the lines of 'nothing beats the original cast', they will be removed. (cont>)

  • I LOVE THIS! Unusually addictive :)

  • I like this one BETTER thans the original.

  • this is different then the original...i like the original better!! grrrrrrrr...evil avennue q!

  • I like the original.

  • They should've done The Money Song! They could've done the "give us your money!" parts to the studio audience, who give money as it is, and appeal to those at home! That would've ruled!

  • i kinda like the london cast but i absolutly love the "gary coleman" in the londan cast. i think its better to have a guy play a guy part!

  • i love avenue q!!! they are so funny! i want to buy tickets! they're not bad compared to the real avenue q but they changed the song a little and christmas eve is a little bigger^^;;

  • i loooooooove this musical, but i'm not so sure about the london cast. i suppose i'm just hypocritical since i love stephanie and john and basically the entire OBC!

  • uuhh...did nicky just put his head on that woman's breast?! (0_0)

  • it sukasukasukasukasuka that i cant find it

  • i like princeton!

  • Oh my god, Im totaly in love with Simon Lipkin. He is so awesome!!

  • Avenue Q is soooo inspirational. The charm and fun of the whole thing has given me ideas for ventriloquism. Thanks for uploading this. Great cast!

  • yay!

    thanks for uploading!

  • I hear it's gonna be ob the BBC channel. Anyone know what TIME it'll be on? (12/12/06)

  • 8 pm on BBC1 ^.^

  • thank you so much!

  • Can I find it anywhere on the internet??? Curses to me living in Canada!!

  • The Japanese immigrant that works in a chinese restraunt is awsome!!

  • The chick who does kate is really cute and this is a really good cast

  • I loved this so much, especially the conversations the puppets had with the presenters afterwards. Thanks for loading it up :)

  • Avenue Q was THE highlight for me on Friday, all the other shows which performed on that day, looked so crap compared to Avenue Q! This show just rocks!

  • Watch out, current Wicked fan, comming through! Though I must admit, seeing a song on the TV, even if you do have close ups and whatever, never really compares to the real thing, seeing it live.

Plus, Wicked wasnt shot as well as some of the other stuff. Too many distant shots, not enough close ups (some of the ones which were there looked really weird.) Avenue Q was one deff. of the better shot ones.

  • Terry fell down the stairs? Ive not seen anything of Avanue Q before, it looks good, but having the puppeteers so visable I find a bit distracting.

  • This is the point, really, to balance the expressions that can be displayed through the actors with the innocence assosiated with puppets. Personally, I found the delicate balance to be amazing when I saw the show live. I could watch both at once, it seemed. I think it's completely different on a screen. I looked at the puppets much less.

  • I did, its in another video. I didnt realise when I was seperating the clips from the origional recording, that this was directly afterwards. It was easier to load them seperatly.

  • Aww, you didn't put the part where Terry fell down the stairs! XD

  • Okay, I have just updated the Video information. Thank you to Elphie London (WoO) for giving me the info.

  • I guess the Money Song gives too much of the plot away. Nice performance though, I'm dying to see this

  • Fantastic Video!

Why didn't they do The Money Song tho?

  • Hmmm...good point!

  • That's what I thought. I'm not too bothered though seeing as I'm going to see it next year.
