I'm afraid there's no "contemporary Russian version" of this song. This song's pretty old - music 1828, texts - 1915 (WWI), 1918, 1919, 1922 (Civil War)

There are a number of songs on a website that is longer working that I downloaded a few years ago. I have been trying to get them again, but can't find them anywhere. Can anyone PLEASE HELP ME??!! Below are a few examples of the songs, I LOVED THESE SONGS VERY MUCH AND SOOO WANT TO HEAR THEM AGAIN.

This is very good. This song somehow sounds great in German. And the music/arrangement is true to the old spirit of the song. Much better than the contamporary Russian versions.
