  • i watched this in english class.. i was like .. dafuq did i just hear ?

  • best part of the movie

  • And then half a city block went into utter chaos and destruction, perfect sense.

  • must find full version for act 1 scene 1 in english

  • Because once the Capulets get pissed off, the first thing you want to do is grab the gas pump

  • After this the movie goes WAYYY downhill

  • This is why we should force all ghettos to undertake thorough Shakespeare study, Gang wars would be so more... fun!

  • Why are they screamig...

  • I wanna see more modern takes on Shakespears work.

  • @TheRamosOnline Why hasn't the fucker who made this movie do Hamlet!! :) I am excidetly mad after seeing this awesome scene!

  • We studied this movie in English class. I've pretty much memorised every scene.

  • @modini123 what school?

  • Comment removed

  • @kupkakekrazy A school in the UK, near Nottingham. That English class was about 5-6 years ago now.

  • I.LOVE.THIS.MOVIE.

  • I love at :08 and how he is like "uuuuhhhhh I should NOT have done that!"

  • The interesting bit is that it was the Capulet's biting their thumbs in the book,

  • i actually understood this more than the original version in the book o_O

  • epic scene

  • ahhh omg i seen this movie but forgot the name of it, can someone please tell me the movie name???

  • @TheOsamaBLaden1 Romeo and Juliet...

  • @3dressedupasa9 theres no more to the tittle???

  • LOL moment at 0:03

  • Biting your thumb is considered a sign of disrespect.

  • @R0ckG1r7 It was the equivalent of the finger.

  • Keep pressing 1

  • Pulling out a gun in a petrol station. Are they asking for an accident?

  • @andrewlawrence2209 hindenburg 2.0

  • Why does everyone have a gun in this movie????

  • @rennigan100

Most likely the guns represent swords, if I can recall everyone was carrying a sword in the original.

  • @idonotknowme Ahhh true

  • @idonotknowme swords and daggers yes.. when mercutio drops his gun into the sand it had dagger printed on in, and when capulet calls for his longsword he is reaching for a shotgun

  • @idonotknowme

    true

  • i always loved this part of the play

  • this is one weird film.

  • @TheFreevez It's actually hilarious.

  • @TheFreevez it's because it's all in old shaksperian english, that's the only reason it's weird, to be honest, it's an awesome film :)

  • There's so many mixed views to this film and I think each one has some good points. In my own opinion I liked it. I understood a bit better what was supposed to be happening and I thought it was a clever idea. And Jamie Kennedy as Sampson was awesome. :)

  • I kept laughing through this mess XD at the end I had to scream

    -kinda spoiler-

    BOOM HEADSHOT

  • Go forth, i shall back thee LMFAO

  • Part fools! You know not what you do.

  • how many times does he need to say sir? really?

  • I LOVE Jaime Kennedy! :) Such a freaking spaz!!

  • This is fantastic.

  • the classic movie of Romeo and Juliet was better than this modern one...

  • Worst movie ever, the person who bit his thumb was not mentally retarted.

  • Would you like some cheese with that ham?

  • Comment removed

  • What a fucking joke. I nearly turned it off at this point. Shame that this scene appears so early on, as the rest of it was pretty good.

  • Lol Jamie Kennedy.

  • press 4 for the most bad ass line ever in a movie.

  • Worst scene of the film!

Thank God it was revived by Mercutio's death scene! Brilliant!

  • best bit of the movie !

  • When reading Romeo and Juliet im not to sure if it was ever clear that the two men at the market (pink hair and bald) were ever Capulets or Montagues. My teacher was even stumped at this. They speak like capulets but theyre always portrayed as Montagues in the movies.

  • @WeAreTheInnovators Well that's kind of an interesting thing in the play's Character Lists it is said that Sampson and Gregory are servants of Capulet. HOWEVER once the story gets going and we get to this scene Gregory sees Benvolio and claims him as his master's kin, and eggs Sampson on. Seeing as Benvolio is a Montague this implies that the men are not Servants of Capulet but of Montague. This 'mistake' is in 3 diffrent sources I checked.

  • In Soviet Russia-

    wait.

  • @MikiDii1 lmao xD

  • GO FORTH I WILL BACK THEE!

  • in my opinion this movie incl. all characters looks simply gay

  • i laugh in high school because this was so not like the original lol

  • I don't get what the hell they are saying beyond 0:39? lol..translation please?

  • @petacavanagh Sampson: Well if you do sir, I am for you! I serve as good a man as you! Abraham: No better? Gregory: Here comes our kinsman, say better! Sampson: Yes sir, better! Abraham: You lie! Draw if you be men! Or in Basic English - S - If you want a fight, I'll take you on. My boss is as good as yours. A - Not better? G - Here comes backup, say better! S - Yea he's better! A - You lie! Draw your weapons!
  • @cobra312004 Thanks lol....I finally understand it now :D

  • @cobra312004 they definitely switched around the servants of each family.

  • for the 9 people who who clicked dislike"i bite my thumb at thee sir"

  • go i love this fucking movie

  • DO YOU BITE YOUR THUMB AT *UUSSSSS*!

    Sir.

  • @Jennatills but it's not a comedy. It's a tragedy drama... :/

  • @ayoopdog i hardly know anything about shakespeare, but actually most of shakespeare's works had elements of comedy in them, I think back then the style was to put in equal amounts of comedy and tragedy to give the audience a few laughs as well. I remember having to ridiculously overanalyse that one sentence Mercutio say's before he dies "look for me in the morning and you'll find me a grave man" or something, which was apparently hilarious due to it's play on words of death and seriousness.

  • This is terrible.

  • DO YOU BITE YOUR THUMB AS UUUSSSS, sir?

  • @lordxeras Yes.

  • Funny thing is back in Year 9 English when I watched this the first time I didn't realise it was a comedy

  • Do you bite your thumb at UUUSSSSSSS, sir?

  • Oh my pride, Sir.

  • Shakespeare was such a genius that even today, when his words are spoken by absolute retards with flowery shirts and pink hair they are still just as good.

  • IS THE LAW ON OUR SIDE IF I SAY AYE?!!?!?!?

  • @Chemicgen1 NO!!!!!!!!!!

  • why does the guy in the pink hair have a black eye? i never understood that.

  • @jocelynkaulitz cuz he wants to look HARRRRRDD!!!! haha XD

  • @jocelynkaulitz In the play they had just got done fighting with some other capulets. Then they start talking shit, not knowing Tybalt was there

  • @jocelynkaulitz Maybe he was biteing his thumb at other Capulets before!

  • what the movie called @_@

  • @Beeboplily Well the according to the "description" if thou is literate, explains that the scene is from Romeo + Juliet.

  • This is how Google came up with the like/dislike system.

  • This movie... I don't even...

  • Man the cars in this movie are fucking sick

  • God the pink haired guy almost killed the entire movie. He was so unfunny it was painful. I almost turned it off at this point, which would have been a shame, because the rest of the cast do a perfect job. This scene just fucking kills the movie before it even properly begins...

  • @videogamenostalgia

it hhink the guy with the pink hair was fucking awsome, he was the best lol

  • @raphamuffin - I'm not an idiot I said I don't get why they done the scene the way they did it your just some sad person who calls people idiots on youtube because they have nothing better to do :/

  • Do you bite your thumb at us, sir?

I do bite my thumb sir

Do you bite your thumb at US?!!? sir?

  • DO YOU BITE YOUR THUMB AT US?!?!?!?!? Sir?

  • I'm 100% sure Shakespeare is rolling in his grave uncontrollably at this scene. o.o

  • DO YOU BUTE YOUR THUMB AT US?! ...Sir?

    XD

  • 8 people couldn't bear the disgrace

  • I don't get the whole point of the way they done this scene its so stupid I don't even understand half the stuff they're shouting :/

  • @KiDkoulla Because you're an idiot.

  • @KiDkoulla ... How do you not.. understand this? Biting your thumb at someone is basically like giving them the middle finger in olden days.

  • Comment removed

  • @KiDkoulla Because it's funny and cool. Only the geniously insane and the insanely genious get it.......Insane, but in a manner of genius.

  • Making Romeo and Juliet up to date YOU FAIL AT IT

  • Comment removed

  • @seanthomas642 actually it was really well done. By using the original language and visually modernising it, it allows people who perhaps would've been able to understand, to understand. it was really really well done. tell me another film that was modernised and actually done well. also it was excellently shot and edited. despite it being one of my favourite shakespeare plays, i thoroughly enjoyed it. i think baz luhrmann did a wonderful job at modernising romeo and juliet.

  • @giraffestuckinapie Yeah well i still Think It's Weird and Psychotic But thats my Opinion

  • over acting

  • Wow. O.o

  • lol wut a fuckin awful movie, but this was the funniest fuckin shit in the whole film. Plus, the soundtrack was pretty sweet too

  • hahaha. this was my favorite part of the movie.

  • This scene just doesn't work the way they've done it here. It's far too exagerated, I mean this scene is meant to be slightly exagerated but here it just sounds and looks weird.

  • lmfao he just bit his thumb my friends find this scene funny

  • "do you bite your thumb at us sir?"

"I DO Bite my Thumb Sir"

"DO YOU BITE YOUR THUMB AT US !... sir"

"Is law on my side if i say I ?"

    "NOO !!"

"NO SIR I DO NOT BITE MY THUMB AT YOU SIR BUT I DO BITE MY THUMB SIR !"

    Genius :)

  • why did they raped this legendary play? seriously??

  • why do the montagues have a license plate that says cap 005?

  • @InsertNameWhere

    because its the capulets?

  • @InsertNameWhere They are Capulets, not Montagues. "Cap" short for Capulet.

  • Comment removed

  • I remeber seeing this part of the movie with absolutely no background on the story, except that Romeo and Juliet were forbidden lovers, and in the end they killed themselves. This scene weirded me out so much, I had to change the channel. I now regret it.

  • "DO YOU BITE YOUR THUMB AT US!....sir" lol xD

  • is Abraham the man behind the wheel wearing grills?

  • LOVE THIS MOVIE!!

  • A 16th century nigga moment.

  • @Spankydaham924 lol when i saw your comment i busted out laughing

  • 6 people have had someone to bite a thumb at them

  • Abraham in this version of the movie looks strangely like Joakim Noah.

  • @InsertNameWhere Isnt it Abram

  • The combination of the original language (thee, thou) with the modern setting is just plain out weird. Especially when the characters are yelling like this.

  • @InsertNameWhere weird but is very fucking engaging... once i got the curve at it i had to watch the whole movie and is plain out, a master piece.

  • AHHHAHAHAH WA WA WA

  • I didn't really like the movie much, but I did find this scene to be funny...only for the idiocy of it. I mean, pink hair...really?

  • Awful

  • i bite my thumb at the 5 people who dislike this.

  • This movie looks so dumb

  • @Codzilla3 In some sense it is....but its actually the best (and most interesting) interpretation of the play that I have ever seen.

  • This is how it really goes down in the hood...now you know...there are many men in prison at this very moment for biting their thumbs at other men...sometimes it leads to tickling which "Darryl from The Office" would call "Fluffy Fingers"..it must be true.

  • William Shakespeare Bites his thumb at you! This movie is a disgrace. It is awfull compared to the original. Truee Theater is dead and movies today are senseless. This was a rip off in my opinion but leanardo de caprio in a movie and its a master piece.

  • LOL. if this is from a movie can someone tell me what the name of it is

  • @toasterbread75 Romeo and Juliet. the newer version.

  • Clara Chung bites her thumb at you.

  • HAHAHHA XD

  • Way too much screaming in this rendition.

  • fuckin italians.....

  • @dudemeister200 italians, more like mexicans of puerto ricans aren't them?

  • i rad remember i had said this part when we had also a remake of the romeo and juliet

  • i thought it was slaves biting their thumb....

  • i watched this scene in class- our english teacher laughed his head off looooooooooooooool thumbs up if u hav done romeo and juliet yet?

  • @TINKERMiLLiON isnt it the slaves that are suppose to do this scene

    sampson and gregory

  • @aprimic Jamie Kennedy's character IS Sampson.

  • Go forth! I will back thee!

  • Man capulets put Montagues on the bitch hard in this one

  • why couldnt they have done romeo and juliet like this?

  • Reading in English... this has become the new pun. :)
