1 Corinthians 13:13 says; "and this three will remain; faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of this is love." Love will always be the key.. If we don't have the heart to love them enough as we say the Lord loves them, then why don't we ask God to change our hearts and motives.. :)) just love..
I sang this song at the Salvation Army Music Fest in 2005!! The message is great!! ALL Salvation Army Corp Captains need to be reminded of William Booths message to reach out to those that are UNloved, and to those we deem as Socially UNacceptable as well!!! Christlikeness is not just mere words!!!!
This song does have some undercurrents of reform teaching Come on we can do better than this theological quagmire .Remember John chapter 3 king jamees version arms us with the love of the truth to go in to all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. How will they hear without a preacher...?.Leave the dead religion behind so that you may be a doer of the word.
This song does have some undercurrents of reformed teaching. We have to do better than this theological quagmire. Remember John chapter 3 KJV is the words of the Saviour. We can therefore be armed with the love of the truth and go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. How will they hear without a preacher? We must not hesitate in leaving the dead relgion behind and do what the word says.Obey christ not calvinism.
As long as there are barriers of race and religion, we are not yet ready to love! Most of us preach about how Jesus loves mankind, but we cannot even love our next door neighbor! Neighbor hates neighbor, Christian sues another Christian! When Christ returns, will He find love, let alone faith?
As long as we tell people that they are going to burn in hell forever when they do not believe, we are not yet ready to love them, let alone tell them Jesus loves them! How is it that "WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US", and yet we tell the unbeliever( SINNER ) that they are going to burn in hell forever? Why is that the unbeliever goes to burn "FOREVER" in "HELL" when the Scriptures clearly says Christ died for us while we were sinners, ALL of us?Salvation is a gift for ALL mankind!
@miss3v3lyn Jesus came in truth and love. Sometimes love demands that we tell something unpleasant. Matthew 25: 31-46 ends with "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." Telling someone they are going to "burn" is not how to start, but it must be told once someone understands that we really don't want that to happen; that we love them. Then when it is told they should also have heard that there is a way; we should have already won them by love.
I have failed completely and utterly in this area in the past, and for that I repent and ask the Lords' forgiveness. I was so busy trying to get Christians elected and install God's kingdom on earth I forgot what is really important, and I became a legalist who turned away the ones I love the most with my legalism.
Wow... I've never looked at that verse in this light before... "Love them as I have loved you." Jesus didn't just love unconditionally, He loved with compassion. At the beginning of the Beatitudes, it says that Jesus looked out over the crowd and had compassion on them. That's why He taught. Not for the people who refused to listen, but for the people who were lost and dying and hurt. Jesus said to love them with compassion, to love them by caring for them...

[Except that "It is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God".]
