  • when it comes right down it... the vast majority of my favorite beers come from England

  • @jumar1281 they make a lot of great beer.

  • who hoo 100 views

  • Glad to finally find out why this is no longer available :( sorry that I won't likely ever be able to try it..

oh well... great review as always. So when is Dieu Du Ciel review coming up hmm? ;)

  • well someone might have an old bottle sitting around. if you see it. grab it. also you never know, maybe wells will make it again if enough people complain.

i got a few other reviews already done. i just got to load them up. then ill do the dieu du ciel.

  • I don't know what's up with youngs brewery. If they're makng these outstanding beers why would they stop? Maybe they're financially unstable. Sucks.

At least the beer is good. It sounds like you wouldve put this in your top ten so I was surprised you said it's only top notch.

I'd love to try this sometime.

  • the owner of youngs died in 2004 leaving the brewery up in the air. in 2007 wells bought them out, and stopped making some of there beers. this being one of them probably because wells already have a stout.

i don't really have a top 10. i have a top 5. top notch is the highest grade i give a beer. unless i say its a personal favorite. which as good as this is. its not a top 5 favorites. but its as good as a beer gets.

  • yeah but if it's one of the best beers or at least one of their better-selling beers there's no reason to stop making it.

The only thing I can think of is it wasn't selling well. It's all about business.

Also, the Taddy Porter you said is World Class. I thought that was higher than top notch?

  • when wells took over. they stopped making a lot of the beers, and some of them were very highly regarded, and good sellers. so i don't know why they stopped making them.

i may have said the taddy porter was a world class beer in my description, but i say a lot of things when describing how much i like a beer. but it "rating" the beer. i gave it my top grading which was "top notch"

  • i went back to see what i graded the taddy porter. i also described the beer as outstanding as well.. but i called it a new all time favorite, and graded it as a "top notch". which is what i graded this as, but like i said as good as this beer is, it is not a all time favorite. if you check ut y web site you can also see y "current" top 5 favorites. which the taddy porter is listed, and the this oatmeal stout is not listed.

  • ahh
