I adore this song. Just bought the album last night and was listening to it on the way home tonight and it just made me smile. It embodies completely everything I want to say to the bigots and racists in this country and the world over. I was lucky enough to see Nerina in Birmingham and it was brilliant.
The song is the pulse of reality right now.....people of humanity unite...we are in a great fight....much love to all those seeking real Truth, Wisdom and Love...erick
I doubt it too, I think most people in Brittain are too stupid or ignorant to get it. Certainly most have their heads too far up their own arses to care. Having said that I expect those reading this are probably not like that, or they wouldn't be looking for Nerina Pallot!!
Swinderby you need to listen carefully to all the song -Nerina is saying she is proud to be English and she wishes the rest of us to accept her without the predjudice. She was born here and is a talented lady what else do you want?
Your music is so charming. Can you believe in my city there is no radio station playing music like that?, what a shame. This music takes me to these late afternoons in the park, walking around, eye to eye looks... I don't know how you found me but I was lucky one in a million for that. British lyrics are really deeper that the ones from this side. Best regards from border TX, USA and MX.
There's a fine line between dentity and politics. I'm not quite sure this makes it. For passion in this area, listen to Billy Bragg or the Pogues.
Odd symbolism at times - not sure the Queen is an English thing, bulldogs are a British, not English symbol (although an emblem of a detestable institution, the Kennel club and their almost eugenic promotion of warped, inbred, mutilated freaks in the name of breed perfection).
Read Dara O'Briain's book on the subject - maybe a bit more nuanced.
Perhaps one day it will change. If we all remember us the words of The great Martin Luther King as he once said: "I have a dream". We all have to believe in it.
If England and the English are so awful why do so many still want to come and live here? India is surely the most racist country in the world with it's horrible caste system and the massive gap between the wealthy and the desolate poverty stricken majority.
I really do tire of hearing all this anti-English shite from people who seem to be doing very well here.
By the way copying Joni Mitchell is not the way forward. Joni did it all before this youngster was born and so much better too.
song still hits me...always brings tears to my eyes

Brilliant song. Easily my favourite from The Graduate, I wonder if people really "get" what this is about. I doubt it.
