  • Omg, can you guys stop complaining? Most movies aren't like the book. Deal with it. I, for one, thought the movie was great.

  • Although I am angry that they didn't stick with the book, I have to admit they still captured the emotion of the Holocaust.

  • I don't like this movie AT ALL. I hated Kirsten Dunst's bad acting skills and how many errors they made from the book. And something that bothered me at first was that Hannah is supposed to be named Chaya Abramowicz and isn't it supposed to be 1942 or something. And some of the worst errors is that Hannah is supposed to be THIRTEEN, Rivka is TEN, Rivka is not her cousin, Hannah does not meet Rivka until she is in the camps. They did not even count in Gitl, Fayge, Rachel, Yente, and Esther!!!!!!!

  • dont watch

  • bore scene

  • its feyga not leya and shmuel is her uncle and rivka isnt her cousin she is her friend in the camp and her name is chaya and where is gitl?????

  • R.I.P Britney Murphy, this is one of the FIRST movies we saw you

You were very talented. THIS MOVIE IS GREAT!

  • Gosh, its okay to change up the movie some compared to the book., but this was too much change.

  • wheres gitl, since whe is rivka her cousin? where's aaron? they chaged it up too much whyy??

  • OMG THIS ALREADY FAILS MISSERABLY COMPARED TO THE BOOK CUZ HER NAME IS CHAYA NOT HANNAH AND WHAT HAPPENED TO AARON??? AND IM SORRY but this is just rediculious

  • @peacelovejoy1108 @Flower16 I am reading this book in class, but I would have finneshed it by now. Hannah, is a child in the book, and has braces, She was called: Chaya, Hannah, and Hannaleh. I myself am shocked that it is very different from the book and it should really only be a little different. This was a dissapointment some what. But I hope it will get better.

  • BRITTANY MURPHY <3

  • they pronounced it estar because of their accents

  • Wth! Rivka isn't her cousin! Dang movie writers. Ruining a good book..:(

  • they're supposed to think her name is Chaya! ughh stupid movie writers

  • brit murphy was sooo cute :(

  • this thing is allll wrong. wheres gitl wen she first gets ther? she meets rivka at camp! her name is not hannah wen shes transported back...its chaya!!!! in the book, they dnt even know who hannah is!!

  • @tweekatweeka13579 Her Yiddish name IS Chaya and it means Hannah in English. Also, I agree a whole lot with you! Hannah/Chaya's hair is suppose to be black! If it's blond of course she isn't Jew. Jew's were taken into camp because Hitler was a dictator and kind of like a racist also, he said if no one had blond hair or blue eyes, you were sent into camp. Gitl and Shmuel are suppose to be there like you said also! Rivka was her Aunt! Not cousin but for the ORIGINAL Chaya, Rivka was her friend. =|

  • @superthit911 excuse me to fix a small mistake. Chaya means Alive in Hebrew. Hannah means Forgiven. Estar means "hidden" etc.

  • @ChiefOren well I know about that but Chaya means live and her Aunt Eva named her after her DEAD friend which is Hannah in English and Estar, do you mean Esther? The movie is never like the book.

  • @superthit911 Sorry. Esther? The real pronunciation is Estar. אסתר.

  • @ChiefOren Ok Ok OK so maybe your Jew, but the book says ESTHER. Either way, it's not your story, it's Jane Yolen's story. She can name the character's name anyway or anyhow she wants to. Even though you say it's Estar, Esther is how Ms. Yolen wants her to be recognized as.

  • @superthit911 Not Arguing the point. Just a small trivial note. Just giving the proper pronunciation of the Hebrew name. The Hebrew Tav is pronounced as an English T, but as Hebrew also has another letter, the Tet, which is also prononced as T, the English simply wrote the Tav as TH. You could go to Yemenite pronunciation of the Tav as TH, but I think that is going a bit far for this trivial discussion. Not trying to be crass about the point. Just Trivia.

  • @ChiefOren Ok OK Again, OK no need to get all geeky or nerdy. Basic info is enough.

  • @superthit911 Gee, first time anyone called me a nerd. Now that's a new one for me. Usually get called "Dirty", "Rat", "filthy", "Stinking" etc etc because I AM Jewish. Funny though, even though I'm Jewish, I am still Cherokee. Figures.

  • @ChiefOren Ok Mr. Jew, I'm not trying to argue with you or anything but, it's interesting to read about Jews such as the book of this movie, although, again, basic information is enough. It sounds interesting before people tell you everything. Ok. But thanks for the info.

  • @ChiefOren it's pathetic people call you these names. I'm called horrible names because I have red hair. people are scared of other people that don't look like them or have different views of something. again, pathetic.

  • @Reinspired30 If I'd take all these name callers seriously, I would have died long ago of a heart attack. But usually they are just immature mama's boys that have yet to experience the better part of living (Women). However, even as a child growing up in a "white" neighborhood, I experienced racism first hand because we were Cherokee. Must say though, that most of the racism was not from the Christians that went to church, but beer drinking redneck assholes. Thank God they are few.

  • @ChiefOren yeah, :)

  • @ChiefOren alive life same difference!

  • Brittany Murphy is dead :(

  • @alyson32590 damn that's sad, still can't beleve it :(((

  • err in the book she's suppose to find the afikoman and then she opens a door and goes back in time...but in the movie, that never happend...O.o thats weird

  • at 00:42 she on lsd but dnt get me wrong this is a sad movie

  • this is a good movie but I liked her better as Chaya and Rivka being at the camp still good though :)

  • GET OVER IT. Movies are always different from the books!

  • RIP Brittany Murphy.

  • @neveradullmoment6 Brittany Murphy was right for the role in "Clueless" but in the following movies I always thought - There must be someone better for that role.

  • i imagine gitl as a short blond haired woman with an old dress on and an apron who is strong and will not give up... that is NOT gitl

  • FUCK THIS. Where the fuck is Gitl. Why is Rivka her cousin. Fayge marries Shmuel.

Her name isn't Hannah in the past it Chaya.Fuck you movie directors

  • wtf?!?! this is NOTHING like the book! Rivka is NOT Hannah's cousin and when Hannah goes back into the past, her name is CHAYA(life). Gosh I only read the book once, but this movie is a DISASTER! Plus the actress playing Hannah doesn't portray the character well.

  • @bluerin2

    So??!?!?

just watch the damn movie. Kirsten Dunst is hot.

  • since when does rivka live with her........?

  • @SuperBobo888 your not listening... her parents died and she is moved with them.. she's from Lublin in Poland...

  • @Lazytownbaby i know but Rivka is a character who she DOES NOT live with...if i recall correctly i dont think she even meets chaya/hannah until after going to the camps

  • @SuperBobo888 i know right ?!?! its suppose to be gitl and smuel smh dumbass movie >=/

  • @SuperBobo888 : What is the book called? I didn't have to read this 27 years ago in HS. We read the Diary of Anne Frank, and another book, about a Russian girl who was a prisoner in WW2 in Siberia, I forget the title but it was an amazing book, wish I knew what it was called, I'd read it again. Anyways, what's the book called for this movie? I'd appreciate the the title :) TY

  • @goodcomps The book that this is based on? it's called the devils arithmetic..

  • @SuperBobo888 I KNOW ITS ALL WRONG. IT LOOKS LIKE SHES 20 NOT 13!

  • @SuperBobo888 She meets Rivka in the camp!

  • @Allison0365 right! agh so annoying

  • poor jews... always so poor and suffering... too bad they dont movies about the millions jews destroyed... the wars they created and all the other shit

  • @badsign1980 To bad they don't do a movie about the oppression and murder of women and "Heretics" by the Portuguese and Spanish Inquisition. How about all the Indians they exterminated, and all the other shit. BTW, eat it.

  • Ariel is sooo hot! <3

  • Jewish men are sexy.

  • ok first, in the book her name is Chaya in this period of time, second her aunts name was Gitl anf third Rivka isn't her cousin shes someone at the camp whe she arrives. Great job of butchering the reference of the book for the movie moviemakers.

  • I love those Yeshiva Bochers (students) ! they seem like they are very close friends!

  • R.I.P. Brittany Murphy. My late wife.

  • ummm don't they call her Chaya in the book

  • @MsPurple222 i know!

  • I loved the book.....

  • What i was asking myself the whole time is... how come she suddenly speaks polish Yiddish and how come it sounds just like English but with a fake Russian accent?

  • RIP You were lovely Britney. We hope your mother get to see this message

  • Yes, that's her, She was just perfect, she changed through the years losing weight.

  • I don't understand, if Kirsten Dunst's character is American, and she time travels (or something) to live with her family in Poland, how is she supposed to understand them? You'd think they would speak Polish to her, yea?

  • @SidJC Universal translator like the ones they use in Star Trek.

  • @longhairfan More like the Babel Fish in the Hitch hikers Guide.

  • the movies really not bad. but i havent read the book yet.. so im sure my opinion will change.

  • such a disappointment. the book was so much better

  • rivka isn't her cousin 0__o"

    and rivka's mom isn't alive!

  • wtf? she met rivka in a concentration camp! and she met shmuel and gitl in the house!

  • this movie is soo cute and sad!! <3

  • what happeened with Gitl

  • What happened to Gitl? And Hannah living with Shmuel and Gitl?!?!? this sucks!

  • @98juliacapri gitl isnt in the movie

  • So confusing. Hannah's name is suppose to be Chaya when she goes back in time. And she is suppose 2 be 13. I just finished the book and like this movie has all the ppl messed up. If hannah is rivkas cuz how is aunt eva her grandma? (there both same ppl) Lol im just gonna stop watching this movie + Rivka is suppose 2 be 10 years old..

  • @Iscool87 they never really portray any movie EXACTLY like the books they are based on....

  • i just started reading the book , and I love it.. but ... im dissapointed in how different the movie is to the book..

  • OMG THATS A BIG CHANGE

  • WHAAAT Rivka was 10 years old, they meant at the camp where she helped keep Hannah (Chaya) still alive.

  • The book is sooooo much better.

  • Yeah this is nothing absolutley nothing like the book.Thiss is stupid...

  • Wow. This is a let down to the very awesome book...

  • When she is in the past it's Chaya not Hannah

  • shmuiel is hot :)

  • wtf? ... she meets rivka at camp.. her cousin is gilt... not rivka!

  • @kevin5217019 rivka isn't her cousin nor is gitl. Gitl was Chaya's aunt

  • what? Its gitl not Rivka and she is eating jelly beans at her friends housse in the begining

  • gitl?????

  • RIVKA IS NOT HER COUSIN!!!!!!!!!!!
