Users would get 1 or 2 high ratings on their videos, then disable ratings so their video ratings can never go down. Youtube has fixed the problem though.

there are multiple ways to aproach a video that repulses you.. first and foremost, don't watch it! second you can flag a video which youtube will look at within 48 hours... you can claim copyright infringement in a similar manner.. You could make your own video in response... OR you could complain about it on a completely unrelated video to someone who has nothing to do with it.
Not to mention, that woman is an adult and is more than capable of taking care of herself... She left multiple positive comments and I doubt it was as a reverse psychology play... I've had people make attack videos on me... using some pretty insulting language.. I sent it to all my friends and added it to my favorites... then they took it down.

continued...If it's good enough that people want to watch it over and over, then it deserves to be in the "most viewed" IMO. For instance, sometimes someone comes over and I show them a video I saved in favorites cause it was so funny or good.
I agree w/ everything you just said except that I would hate it if I could only view a video so many times. That's why I have a favorites list; so I can watch something again & again if I want. If I watch something over and over, it's because it's really good.
You should be able to view a video as often as you want... I just don't think it should count as a "view" in the stats.. because some people set it up so their browser refreshes over and over automatically just to boost the views on a video.
Maybe when you grow up someone will show you how to read... it really helps with understanding things... you might even like it... they say ignorance is bliss... but that's a lie... they just tell that to ignorant people to make them feel better.

I wanted to get the whole song in... but it would have been too long... and I really wanted the "handicapped faces" and the "have fun at someone elses expense"... the song is just littered with great references... it was tough, but I'm pretty happy with the message.
Ratings arent the only problems though, they need to find a way of blocking bots that refresh the pages for their videos too, im sick of seeing shitty videos get in the top viewed(partially becuase I dont want to see them pass up our pokemon music video which we earned top views, favorites, and disscussed LEGITIMATELY, hahaha). I agree with all that you said though.
Yeah... maybe limiting views 1 per IP address... but that wouldn't work very well for multiple people behind a NAT... and cookies are useless as they can easily be cleared... It sucks to block an IP too, because it could be dynamic and it could also be a NAT for any number of real users... It's a tough problem and a good point.

continued...If it's good enough that people want to watch it over and over, then it deserves to be in the "most viewed" IMO. For instance, sometimes someone comes over and I show them a video I saved in favorites cause it was so funny or good.

I agree w/ everything you just said except that I would hate it if I could only view a video so many times. That's why I have a favorites list; so I can watch something again & again if I want. If I watch something over and over, it's because it's really good.

You should be able to view a video as often as you want... I just don't think it should count as a "view" in the stats.. because some people set it up so their browser refreshes over and over automatically just to boost the views on a video.

I'm going to remove this video once the problem is fixed... or at least turn ratings back on. If all I cared about was the traffic I would have posted this on my real account to get more traffic for my real videos.. I don't care about false popularity.. I care about getting the message out...

Maybe they should focus on the true copyright violators. I had a vid taken down due to copyright. I compiled an AMV (from actual episodes of a show) and then put very explitly (in both the file coding and on the discription) that the original images and audio were copyright of whomever created them, and that I'm not making any money or selling anyone elses crap as mine, but I got pinged for an image in my CREDITS. I guess a shitty bitmap on a website thats (cont)

I wanted to get the whole song in... but it would have been too long... and I really wanted the "handicapped faces" and the "have fun at someone elses expense"... the song is just littered with great references... it was tough, but I'm pretty happy with the message.

Ratings arent the only problems though, they need to find a way of blocking bots that refresh the pages for their videos too, im sick of seeing shitty videos get in the top viewed(partially becuase I dont want to see them pass up our pokemon music video which we earned top views, favorites, and disscussed LEGITIMATELY, hahaha). I agree with all that you said though.

Yeah... maybe limiting views 1 per IP address... but that wouldn't work very well for multiple people behind a NAT... and cookies are useless as they can easily be cleared... It sucks to block an IP too, because it could be dynamic and it could also be a NAT for any number of real users... It's a tough problem and a good point.
