  • mestre xande el mejor!!

  • Comment removed

  • No but I saved up for it and got it today it's amazing a must have

  • Man I'd really like to get ahold of Jiu-Jitsu University, Saulo's instructional book for his method of teaching BJJ. But I can't afford it, I am trying to find someone that hosts it in .PDF format but surprisingly no luck yet. Can anyone here help me?

  • @zedrein18

buy it man. I carry it everywhere with me and I have improved so much.

  • @XxXxXJonathanXxXxX Yeah, I actually bought it last month, but to tell you the truth I'd like for Saulo to release a no-gi version. He's got his "Freestyle Revolution" DVDs out there but they are not as comprehensive as his JJ University book.

  • saulo is the most respectful person you will every meet in your life!!!

  • Whats the song??

  • wow the guy got chocked out at 0:28! was it bravo chocke or giliatine? Peruvian Neck Tie ftw at 1:35 !

  • @Vladimir144 0:28 is a clock choke.

  • man I just got this guys book "university" one

    its brill!

    does he have judo background?

cant wait for my next bjj session!

  • who is that guy that loses and throws a fit at 1:56?? anyone know? id like to see that match.

  • vinnie paz baby! this is the kind of music jiu jitsu vids need!

  • I got Xande beating Roger in this years Mundials!!! it's gonna be a great match.

  • HOT VIDEO!!!

  • more moves....less arms raised....please.

  • classic!!!

  • the music sucks!

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the sweep at 2:21 and 2:25?

  • I guess flower sweep.

  • @surfzach11114444

Ye that's called a flower sweep, pretty basic.

  • windmill flower sweep.

  • Either Flower or Pendulum depending on who you ask.

  • What song is?

  • @pakitos21 artist is 'jedi mind tricks' song is called 'on the eve of war (julio chavez remix)'. gza from wu tang clan is also on the song

  • thanks :)

  • @pakitos21 no problem!

  • Not that this makes me great but I actually trained with Saulo for quite a while when he first moved to USA saulo is a high rank in judo he actually practiced judo before BJJ.

  • @ Malaestro

I think we agree there. Jiu Jitsu was there before Jingoro Kano and Helio Gracie. Both guys articulated it into a comprehensive system which was shaped over the years into a specific sport. Judo guys spend 9 out of 10 hours throwing people and can throw anybody the way they want. BJJ guys spend 9 out of 10 hours tapping guys on the ground and they can tap anybody the way they want.

  • bjj and judo... are two different arts completley diferent ... a lot of people who practice judo constantly want to take credit for bjj... but in reality there is no basis for your argumet just as karate and tia kwon do are differet so is bjj to judo... judo was better the jj but bjj is far superior in terms of evolution of the way people look at ground game ... bjj is responsible for an active gaurd ... judo is great if you want to toss a mo fo both good but very different

  • Oy vey. I'm a Tae Kwon Do blackbelt (taught for 11 years)... TKD is very much rooted in Japanese Karate. In fact, Korean martial artists were typically training in Shotokan Karate (and other Japanese styles) until Korea became an independent nation and sought to create its own national martial art, at which point 6 Kwans (houses) of martial arts were chosen to create a true Korean style, which was refined by the Korean Karate masters of each Kwan and we now know as Tae Kwon Do.

  • jdizzle233 - Of course BJJ owes to Judo. Just like Tae Kwon Do owes to Karate and, ultimately, every martial art owes to the Chinese. Martial arts, like mankind itself, have evolved and will continue to evolve. Know your history, know your future.

*And if you really truly don't think BJJ owes anything to Judo then I have to question that you either a) train in BJJ at all, or b) have a BJJ instructor who doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

  • @jdizzle233 Hi jdizzle233...... are you sure? are you sure?

Maeda, the guy who taught judo to the gracie must be pissed off now.

  • wow... do your real homework.. the gracie bjj that you talk about was modified by hilio gracie who never trained jj because of his weakenss

  • @jdizzle233

If helio never learnt or trained before, how do you think he knew and able to execute the moves we see today.

All those moves are observed in what we call "judo" and "BJJ". Terminology is meaningless.... all we have are different people.

Helio might not have trained with Maeda, but his older brothers did.... and the knowledge is passed onto him.

  • I wish I remembered the account name of the guy who said the top BJJ players don't use many judo throwing techniques and choose to use dragdowns instead. These two are an example of the fact that many of the top players don't just have great newaza but fantastic tachiwaza also. Seonage, kataguruma, te-guruma, o-ouchi gari, etc. Great technique. I have the elitist attitude of BJJ re: that it definitely IS employing established judo techniques. These guys are off the hook though! Fuck!

  • I meant "hate", not "have".

  • Saulo started in Judo though. Not a typical pure bjj path. They do teach judo throws in their bjj classes and it is an amazing advantage in bjj, no doubt about that. BJJ does go beyond when it comes to the ground, it is not just judo newaza.

  • I'll concede that it teaches the fundamental tenements of newaza to a much higher standard than most judo places, but I still don't see how it has evolved beyond judo. When I ask this most people cite moves like the omoplata, gogoplata etc. However, most moves such as these that people consider "purely BJJ", have been found in textbooks, being demonstrated before the Gracies were even born. Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki demonstrates many "purely BJJ" techniques, and has never cross trained.

  • I guess I'm being a bit elitist here, and I have a bit of a negative attitude at times due to the sorta, elitist attitude of my coach. I do respect the grappling abilities of BJJ people. I just do try to remind them of their roots, because I get sick of the increasingly popularity of bashing judo. If people want to get exposed to techniques through a particular avenue, awesome. But people should remember their roots. Just like us judo people should remember it was probably all invented...

  • I model my game after Xane Ribeiro. I hope to be as good as him one of these days :)

  • Vinnie Muthafawkin Paz Baby! Great Video to go along with the song or vice versa. ;)

  • Can't wait till the Ribeiro Brothers comes to teach at Toronto BJJ!!!

  • What's the name of this joint?

  • i love the ribiero brothers

  • insane

  • love this clip !!!

  • Great video!

I don't even like rap usually, but this music's great, and fits the video perfectly.

  • @Gidselgrisen

Jedi Mind Tricks man, you gotta go to the uncommercialized hip hop to find the good stuff. Check out his song Razorblade Salvation

  • @1hayden234 or death messiah or vietnamn war veteran

  • does anybody know what the music at the very beginning and end of the video is? Cuz I know the song is by Jedi Mind Tricks.

  • what is the title of the song?

  • its on the eve of war by jedi mind tricks

  • I love this video.

    What is the song?

  • man!

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks, UB3. Anyone here know anything about Renzo Gracie Ju Jitsu? As far as I know its the only "name ju jitsu"

    in Pennsylvania.

  • these guys are top 5 in the U.S. how are you going 2 say moves like the flower sweep are pretty much eh they are the moves that got them where they are now but im sure u trainined w/ helio gracie so ur thebest right jayh81

  • It was a flower sweep was it not? thats all I said you fuck. Wow. I like flower sweeps lol

  • Great HL!

Anyone knows the name of the artist and song on the first 20 secs?

  • drop seoi nage is awesome

  • I just discovered Saulo. Any others as good or better?

  • me dude

  • Leo Vieira, Cobrinha, Marcelo Garcia, Roger Gracie, Jacare, Demian Maia, Andre Galvao, to name a few. For americans Robert Drysdale, Jeff Glover, Ryan Hall, BJ Penn, are all very skilled as well. Just throwing names out i am not saying who is better.

  • have to pimp out my sensei as well, there isn't a lot of him on youtube but Rodrigo Pinheiro. hes a black belt under Saulo!

  • Bill Cooper and Seph Smith are some beast too.

  • You know, I had thought that those takedowns starting at about :40 were just busted Seio Nages that he had tried and they defended against, but I just got through watching Saulo's DVD on takedowns and he's doing that on purpose. He fakes the Drop Seio and then goes for the trip (Kouchi Gare). He goes back and forth between him so his opponent's don't know what he's doing. Looks like it works. haha

  • Saulo's instructionals are one of the best ever. The guy truly wants everyone to improve and take BJJ to another level.

  • i like his and demian maias science of jiu jitsu the most...

  • Jedi Mind Tricks

    On the Eve of war

  • The're like spiders

    JMT rocks!

  • Soulo Rebeiro is top notch and has earned his place in the "BJJ Hall of Fame", not just as a fighter but as an exellent coach.

  • who does that song and whats it called

  • its a Jedi Mind Tricks track i forgot which one tho.

  • whats that symbol in the beginning mean?

  • spirit of the samurai

  • does anyody know the sweep on minute 2:23 ?

  • Yup. With your left hand grab your opponent's right sleeve. With your right hand grab his gi pants at his left knee. Now, plant your left foot right next to his right ankle. Then, get perpendicular to your opponent by driving off your left foot and drive him over with your right leg. Your right arm will push his leg over to make the sweep more powerful while your left hand can either just hold his sleeve tight to your or pull it towards your right shoulder to turn him even more.

  • Flower sweep pretty much eh?

  • ur eh im sure ur not even ranked

  • If you're having trouble getting this there are 2 very common mistakes. The first is planting your left foot too far from his ankle. It can't be up by his knee or somewhere on his shin. It has to be right next to his ankle and tight against it to make sure he can't post it out. The second is attempting it when your opponent is postured up. His weight needs to be forward. You can set this up by first pulling his arms towards your head, then releasing one to grab his gi pants.

  • This looks like the Flower Sweep in Saulo's Jiu Jitsu University book on page 115. My instructor just had me get that book the other day. Very good stuff. Andrewi2000's description matches up with the description in the book.

  • wooow!!! Jestem pod wrażeniem chłopcy! Its great:* best track

  • What see from these top level guys is not crazy advanced techniques, it's just that these guys drill the basics to hell, and know how to chain them as if by reflex.

  • Search under 'Saulo Ribeiro' to see his fight with with Kondo. He really changed as a person after Yuki beat him down.

  • Search Yuki Kondo v Saulo Riveiro. This is mma fight.

  • You are very lucky I trained for almost six years before I was fortunate to train under Saulo & Xande. Have fun!!!

  • I am lucky enough to train with both Xande and Saulo almost everyday here in lovely San Diego. I signed up with my bro a few months back, not even knowing these guys' reputations in the BJJ world. Very glad I did that.

  • Can't get enough of this vid. The pic of Saulo and Xande with Helio gives me chills!!!

  • awesome hl 5/5!

  • Saulo is my trainer at the Toronto Bjj, only for about two weeks tho.

...i also got his signature on my belt.

  • It is by a group called Jedi Mind Trick. Go to I tunes and you will be able to find. It's on my Ipod. Great tune!

  • Saulo is the man ! He was here on Oklahoma City just last week and some players from my dojo got to roll with him and said he is phenomenal and a class act of a guy. I'm kicking myself for missing the seminar.

  • jedi mind tricks--on the eve of war

  • whats the track name and the artist?

  • hey, cool video and nice track, whats the track name and artist?

    thanx

  • This is the product of mixing BJJ and Judo together, utter greatness.

  • I agree wholeheartedly; Judo and BJJ are sister arts, they should be learned together.

  • What is really impressive is the union beyond the blood between Saulo and Xande. Everytime n evryplace you see them, they are helping each other. Its very nice. They are so good fighters, with unnumerous marks. They are history like Royler, Leozinho, Margarida, Pe de Pano, Roger and Jacare. Congratulations. And the most important: they are brazilians.

  • People show only the good parts of life,He doesn't wanna show the KO against the Japanese guy!!!

  • You mean Yuki Kondo? Anyone have that video? Kondo is a good striker for his weight.

  • Nevermind, I found it.

  • Great highlight!!!

  • does anyone know if the ribeiro brothers ever had to face eachother in a competition?

  • no, different weight classes.

  • LEGENDS!!! all my respects for their accomplishments! 5 stars all the way...

  • good video thanks mate

  • Fucking Hot

  • Remember back when Saulo was untocheble? Well, people don't sleep on Xande cause hes tearing up in Grapplers Quest, and he avenged his loss to Roger in this year Mundial. Not to mention he already has victories over people like Dean lister, Jamal Patterson, Rolando Jacare, and Marcelo Garcia.

  • I don't care what anyone says in my opinion that guy holds back everytime he hits the mats

  • not really, it's call strategy lol

  • I don't even have shit to say about them, only pay respect...
