  • this shit would never fly in America

cyclists are worse than rapists here.

    *sigh*

  • Beautiful

  • This is one "colorful" video. =p

  • the gut on the motorized scooter makes me laugh lol

  • This vid is popular on Kathmandu

  • @distortion041 Who needs helmets when the infrastructure is in order? Make it safe enough and you don't need one. Besides, for commuting traffic most cyclist have an upright bike, so they can see all around. Plus, helmet laws cause a large drop in cycling.

  • And this is only Utrecht XD imagine what Amsterdam would be like XD

  • Quiet and clean rush hour... quite a dream for brazil! We'll get there. =) Thanks for the video.

  • Helmets anyone?

  • @distortion041 No need for them. When you're dutch, about the first thing you learn after walking is riding a bike, It comes naturally.

  • love cycling and holland!!!

  • i love utrecht, i love the netherlands, and i love cycling too, but i have been there for a week.. and cycling there isn't as enjoyable anymore, not adrenaline rush while racing through traffic, if you have a good or bad bike does not matter cause everybody drives at 15 kph or so.. (so 60 in the vid haha). its rationally and logistically perfect, but a lot of the fun and coolness of cycling through a town is gone, you are just in a jam like car drivers are (okay u loose less time).

  • @lolnonamesleft Thats what is London, every one is going in car and somehow the fucking buses are full.

  • Beleza ninguém precisa de capacete!

  • beautiful country :D

  • I love the reactions on this video.

Just because it's so normal to me.

  • who else saw the jerk at :42 cut everyone in line?

  • @r3ece7 That's also normal... he stopped at the traffic light, so it's okay... sorta

  • @r3ece7 I see this every day. Mostly when the infrastructure makes it hard to line up. But they do that when they know that they are riding faster. It would be more trouble to pull in everybody at the traffic light. Nobody is ever annoyed, by the way.

  • I want to move to Holland, i like bikes, and this seems to be the best country in Europe for bikes.

But i need to learn to speak Dutch first.

  • covjek u bijeloj bluzi je from ex yu.Rofl!!!

  • I don't know why but this is hilarious to watch!! :D

  • На это можно смотреть бесконечно как на воду, огонь и взлетающие/садящиеся самолеты.

  • Класс. Наши живопырки неоценят и не поймут.

  • wow!

Several bikes more and it is going to be a traffic jam :)

    Nice video!

  • The guy with motorbike was italian ;)

  • @BikePride lol XD

  • There are no cars, only bikes and public transport.

  • WHY ISNT ANYONE TOWING HIM/HERSELF ON THAT TRAM?!

  • Didn't see a single overweight person - I bet they were all on those buses! XD I would love for that to happen where I live!

  • To all those american haters: I live in america and I would love to ride a bike. But it takes me 30 mins RIDING THE HIGHWAY to get to my college. Imagine me riding THAT on a bike. PPL in the netherlands can do this = small country. In USA we cant = 300 million ppl, BIG country.

  • @CmlDexter So your infrastructures is crap. I'm sure the other route would take an exhausting 45 minutes ? or what. Also, what does being a "small" country have to do with it?. We have 16M people. Australia has 22M people in a country roughly your size. Australia has infrastructure. China has 1400M, just count them, people on an area comparable to yours. China is full of bikes. You have a odd idea about what makes a country big and what are the consequences that follow.

  • @CmlDexter If I would take a car to college it would take me about 90 minutes, there's no way I would ride that on a bike either.. but that's why we have trains. You just cycle to the train station and take the train or bus (obvs). When you arrive in the right city, you take another bike and cycle to wherever you need to be. It's really not that complicated.

  • Amazing video. Dutch people are so right to promote cycling as a way of life.

  • I wish we could be like this here in the US

  • @skbirds We're making some strides in various cities, including Portland OR, Washington DC, Minneapolis, Boston and others. Bikeshare is starting to take off. That leads to more people buying their own bikes and improved infrastructure as more people and political leaders discover the benefits of cycling.

  • It seems as though everyone is riding the same bike... What's the make? Or what is the most common kind? It looks to me like all of them are some sort of utility/commuter bike. Very sleek. In America, sadly, people continue to side with mountainbikes and race (road) bikes for commuting. Very little amount of people actually use specified cruising type bikes.

  • @Xcokedav096 They are not riding the same bike but the same type of bike. In Germany this is even called Holland Rad (meaning Holland bike). There are dozens of makes, even plenty of Dutch makes. You will not see mountain bikes etc. In Holland these are not used for commuting at all, but for sports, exercising.

  • @Xcokedav096 The yellow and blue coloured type of bike you can see often in this video, is a public transportation bike you can borrow at railroad and bus stations if you don't live in the city you're wishing to ride a bike in.

  • If only streets could look like this everywhere in America!!

  • Where's all the fat people.....Oh wait, they're in America

  • @KaliberKing You are probably American. The first word that is on your mind is: fake. That word is the best single description of American culture. The shocking fact for you is: this video is real.

  • What a nice city.

Bikes are always the best way to get around town.

  • In amsterdam you just pick a bike that layes of the street when you lost your own bike, and someone els picks your bike again and you pick someones else bike again, they are everywhere.

  • @lolnonamesleft

No that would be Atlanta Georgia.

  • that's AWESOME!

  • wow

  • we need this in america. this is why we're fat. LOL. it'll save the environment and it'll help ppl lose weight

  • i can practically smell the fresh air! did anyone else see that one guy riding two bikes at 0:30?

  • @amurderofcrowz Its quite common here if you need another bike taken with you for someone :P

  • I can only wish

  • If only this was in America...sigh.

  • Anyone else notice how bloody tall they are.

  • @bigbillyz :) haha we are known for being the tallest people in the world. My brother is all ready 2 meters but you find a lot people longer then him in Holland. You know when building houses from floor to roof it at least need to be 2,60 and higher and the doors 2.30 You know there's an old fabric here and when they wanted to renovate it into a museum they needed to lift every floor up to make it higher because we became so big. ^_^

  • recumbent bikeは走ってないのかー

  • honestly private motorized traffic should be forbidden! cars are negative in every single way and there is no reason for any private person to have a car.

  • @JunCorrado Oh please communism doesn't apply in the Netherlands. Please try Cuba or North Korea.

  • @JunCorrado Now that's just silly!

  • Bike traffic is scary. It's so much more chaotic and unpredictable than car traffic because movement space isn't clearly defined.

  • @MNMaftertheP Scary???, so how often have you heard of two people on bikes crashing head on doing 60miles an hour killing both drivers??

a lot sfafer on a bike don't you think, and a lot more organised then you think

  • 1:29 look at that tiny little bike!!!!

  • loool...i would like to go there one day with a pimped out chrome bicycle.

  • loool...in china this would be considered an empty street..

  • @IdiotForPalin what teh fuck are you talking about

  • This is a dream....is the immigration policy strict? I'd love to live in the Netherlands. That and I'd be closer to the homeland(India).

  • so would it be illegal to use a scooter?

  • @Anthony883 you see one ride by at 0:36

  • They must be looking at people who doesnt ride bikes like "What the hell are you doing?!"

  • How is it not to ride bikes in the Netherlands?

  • @Heytherequetal pretty normal, moped, cars and motorcycles have their own lanes.

  • @Heytherequetal regular traffic jams, crowded stressful roads in general with lots of cars.My friend commutes to Amsterdam for work and decided to take his bike and public transport 2 years ago because he got too stressed out and bored from driving due to the home-car-office office-car-home boredom. Now takes him about 15 minutes more but much less stress and cost then driving a car and healthy the guy has leg muscles that are like rocks and no fat on his body.He also simply enjoys life more

  • Note to the americans: see how none of these people are overweight? Yet none of them subscribed to the Jenny Craig's Summer Special or to Lean Meals.com. How in Heaven's name is that possible, you wonder. Simple. They move their ass.

  • @Rachegotter

    you're such a tool.

  • @Rachegotter Note to you: The U.S. is about 2nd or 3rd on the list as most of the western world is overweight. In fact conclusive studies are showing the few that weren't are catching up.

  • There are more bikes then people here in holland

  • I remember this lane, near the train station right? oi you had to wait at that stop forever sometimes!

  • This is so super cool! beyond cool!

  • A cycling system like this just isn't possible in the vast majority of America. Our cities are extremely poorly designed for it (suburbia), and we've become accustomed to driving everywhere. The only places it could even have a slight chance of working are in big (old) cities, and even they would need a huge overhaul to get it to work.

  • Well, at least people won't die when driving home drunk :p

  • Love this, thanks for posting. We're envious over here.

  • who needs a ferrari when every people is this concerned and humble enough for mother nature?

  • anyone who rides a bike is a friend of mine. Love from Davis California

  • This is BEAUTIFUL :)

  • Google should have a bike or trike with all the cameras to map out the roads and paths like their cars do!

  • Somewhere in that road, there's a bicycle cop hiding with his speed gun out while eating donuts.

  • @PsychoSpiral Funny thing is: there are bicycle cops in every city:P Their equipment is allways better, and they never get tired, so trying to escape is out of the question:(

  • Reminds me of UC Davis California.

  • SO COOL!!!!

  • Very much like China in the 1980s, green and healthy.

  • Awesome, theres a lane for bikers. I guess people on scooters and skateboards are $%#$ out of luck!!

  • @MrCelticsfan1996 they go on the bike lane too :p

  • I like the guy who rides up on the sidewalk. BREAKING THE LAW! BREAKING THE LAW!

  • @joe47771 I AM THE LAW!!!!

  • I wanted to see a 50 bike pile up!

  • that would suck

  • FAKE. They're all Pokemon trainers.

  • this vid looks like Yukushima contamination

  • if i ever saw this many bicyclists riding around town simultaneously, not riding together, and dressed in professional attire, i would think it was some kind of flash mob.

  • this is quite amazing. don't see this at all in the states.

  • can we please have this in Atlanta?

  • WTTFF!!!!

  • Problem fat Americans?

  • I can see notch doing this XD

  • 40 people can't ride a bike.

  • I am moving the the Netherlands

  • Not even one fat person

  • 1:01 WTF!!!!! That guy could have hurt someone! He was on the sidewalk.

  • Netherlands is on another planet

  • this just in massive accitdent occured 30 bikers injured

  • why everyone rides the same style bike?

  • @forsberg2110 Because they don't dream about things...see what i did there?!

  • @forsberg2110 because the really fancy ones get stolen ;)

  • I bet this is a whole lot funnier on the 250 rainy days a year they average in Utrecht....

  • am i the only one who finds 1:01 funny?

  • after a while of watching.. the walking people look weird... like it is not how its meant to be

  • i wish people did this more everwhere in the world

  • @ 0:30 forever alone

  • @jmayrod hahahaha I didnt notice .. xD that was so wierd

  • That looks more dangerous than the 4-wheelers!

  • I dont see any fat people LoL,

  • We dont have such a good roads even for cars in my damn country.

  • fat yanks have harleys

  • if the world was like this it would be much better

  • America might have a bunch of fat people, but those are also the same fat people who can PWNAGEURFACETOTHEGROUNDLAWLZORS against any country. Take notes other small tiny puny countries and maybe some day you can have our military might.... MUHAHAHAH WISHFUL THINKING!! LAWLAWLAWLAWLAWLAWL

  • America, start taking notes.

  • I rode 13 miles on the Dutchess Rail Trail in NY today with like 3 miles of sidetracking. Not a lot for experienced cyclists but a very good day for me. It got me from Poughkeepsie to Highland, and I think that's cool. I'm visually impaired so I can't drive, but I can bike and I wish America was better structured for bikes to be a viable mode of transportation. I wish America could be like this. We don't even have bike lanes most places. I saw one car in this video.

  • I respect that the Netherlands is going for quantity over quality, but Jed Mildon from New Zealand just pulled the first triple backflip, so you're going to have to at least show me a wheelie or something.

  • O sweet Jesus I'm in the wrong gear! Hans, Gretal look out! I would not live long there.

  • i didnt see one overweight person... here, in canada, you will see tons when walking around downtown.

  • you would expect to see cooler bicycles

  • @webbst

    not for €50,-

  • No fat people in the Netherlands thats for sure. Get off your lazy bum!

  • I would love to live there!

  • did anyone else see the guy with two bikes

  • In Sydney. We Drive! .... yeah!

  • you can only dream fat americans

  • @genomastergenomaster haha yeah! :D

  • @genomastergenomaster Americans include all that live in the Americas. Not fair to include us all in =(

  • @genomastergenomaster lol funny comment, I'm from america though in beautiful shape, as I bicycle and am very active...go figure : P This is literally utopia for me.

  • @genomastergenomaster I highly doubt any of these people have to commute 30 miles to work, so stop being so ignorant.

  • @Sburk1988 Many of these people have commutes longer than 30 miles. They take the train for the long part and switch to the bicycle for the last part to their work. So who is ignorant now.

  • @markenlei You are yet again, Most Americans don't work ANYWHERE near trains, like myself, I drive 49 miles on a major highway to the hospital I work at, AND I'm in above average shape for a 20 year old in my country, don't be so judgemental

  • @Sburk1988 you were the one who started being judgmental. And just because you don't have access to a train doesn't mean that that is a fact in the rest of the world. So you can't say it isn't possible to have such a long commute with a bike for at least part of it. It IS possible in a lot of developed countries.

  • My first comment was being judgemental and that was too the first person "genomastergenomaster" who made a comment about Americans being fat, I hate that stereotype.

  • @Sburk1988 You were judgmental -twice- to people who were simply stating a fact. It is a fact that Americans as a people ARE fatter than any other people on the world. If you stopped being so defensive you could learn something from the rest of the world and try to remedy that. And that is the end of this discussion.

  • Look America. Exercise. And its not being sold to you for 3 low payments of $39.99+shipping and handling with 12 dvds including a bonus ab sculpting working for free. ITS A FREAKIN BICYCLE!

  • lol @ the one guy on a scooter and @ the guy with two bikes

  • Now, why couldn't we live in a world like this. It would be so much more beautiful.

  • @Vynsyr well it depends, who is "we". let's just say you are from America, a) you can just move to holland, and easily live in a world like this, b) seeing as how americans hate seeing bikes on the road, it will never happen; unless of course people stop producing oil

  • healthy motherf***ers

  • guy @ 0:30 driving a second bike FTW!!

  • Not one wearing a helmet aswell, in England health and safety would probably have raped you off the street :P

  • Now you know why people call us Ameri-fats

  • вот где запчастями на велоки надо торговать! :)

  • i want to live in netherlands now.

  • i wonder what the accident fatality rate is...

  • they're light years ahead of us here in the US...

  • wtf is wrong with these pll

  • AMERICA= take notes.

  • 0:20 CHEATER!!!!

  • best. video. ever. WHY DON'T WE ALL DO THIS

  • did you notice that nobody is a fat ass there?

  • @Daniel95X They're on the buses.

  • HAIL KNVB!!! champions of europe 2012!!!

  • douchebag at 1:00

  • There is Oxygen in that city.

  • answer to energy crisis too bad were too lazy in america

  • i am going to open a bike shop there: i am going to make billions!

  • Exercise.. No pollution. No cars.. Public transportation. Wow.. I want to live there!

  • 00:30 LOL love that one man has 2 bike! thats why thats why the number is 33%. every bike is count! :)

  • Lol, it's is very weird to read that people from outside The Netherlands are kinda jealous... for us this is just one of the first things you learn when you are born xD

  • Guy with two bikes!

  • Just this video makes me have a very good impression of Netherlands. First because if we HAD to have rush hour, atleast thsi is a bicycle rush hour... 2nd, All I see in this video are the more "less polluting" transportations: electric railway/buses, people walking on foot, bicycles... What else.. oh yes, how they use the traffic lights properly.. and from what I can see, no rubbish littered on the streets... =)

  • thumbs up if your dutch ;D

  • Fuel must be a bitch there!

  • @reeko0223 Not really, we just grow up to use our bicycle alot.

  • @reeko0223 It actually is. 1 litre of petrol currently costs € 1.67! Quite expensive...

  • 39 ppl would rather walk.

  • i didnt see one with a helmet!!!!!
