the best thing i found to carve was my black and decker jigsaw with a small blade and i scrape an inch off the inside of my carving face.

'Specialist pumpkin stencils' ... AKA a pen.

'Pumpkin scraper' ... AKA a spoon.

You seriously don't need to buy all that crap or get stencils etc. I did a Jack Skellington pumpkin this year - inspired by a picture on google. I used a knife. That was it. Don't get ripped off into thinking you need to buy 'pumpkin carving equipment'. It's supposed to be fun anyway, not a damn hassle.

per lighting: best if you use a battery tea candle but if you rather old fashioned candle place unlite candle and light with a lighter that has a long nozzle "grill lighter". Doing it her way isn't safe.

thats why instead of taking the top off do it on the bottom, works great. all u do is make a little tiny hole at the top so oxygen can keep the candle lit.
