Dying Kittens, Sick Cats--Street of Nightmares

It's heartless, :( i'm egyptian and i go egypt quite often, i always see cats hungry i feel bad for them feed them, but one day, i saw a little kitten. Half of it's body was flat to the ground due to a car running it over, and the other half (head and chest) was okay and the poor thing was meowing from pain, nobody did anything i asked for help until people took it out of the street and probably threw it away, i hope people start loving animals and stop being so heartless! :'(

This just goes to show you all the uneducated white trash that cant even take care of a pet let alone themselves..

We are feral cat colony caretakers of over 100+ cats. We were brought a 6-week old kitten that had kitty herpies. If we did not intervene, he would have died.. however, he's now a beautiful 3 year old Siamese! Catweed if you want some help with how to treat the kitty herpies, lemme know. @yankeegal01 Oh and we also do all of our feeding, medication and vet care out of our own pocket, with no help. Just for food, we put out nearly 7 pounds of cat food a day (over $300 a month). People say we are good people for doing it, and are doing a good thing, but do you think they want to help or get involved. Nope!

@shanemelil11 It is pathetic the way we treat animals, when we don't have to. When we could be kind, and, with minimal effort and cost, each person get their cat fixed, and take care of them. Why we as humans choose not to, I don't know. I wish I did know know.

I have the same situation. But today I found a kitten, and I couldn't really do anything to it except to feed her. I bring it to a cat group, and it got integrated, hopefully she'll be good, am still feeding them, but I really want to see if she didn't run away tomorrow. I would really keep them inside just it's not my apartment and I can't keep them.

I can understand what you are going throught. I live in Longview and Thanks to Rescue Paws they are helping me. Right now I am taking care of 2, 6 weeks old kitten, which I had since they were two weeks old found in a box at a store. 5, 4 months kittens and 17 cats. We have adopted out 29 kittens and cats so far. Most of them were wild. I live on a fixed income. I have nurse and treated some of these animals back to health. The old man who is trying to take care of them May God bless both.

God Bless what you do. I work at home and no one in my neighborhood asks to help me financially or just help trapping. House cats should not be outside nor breeding freely. I have a kitten that is recovering from herpes and calici virus. It never ends..

You can nurse a baby kitten to health. We found three 1 day old puppies someone had abandoned in a lunch box and we fed them with a little bottle... put a sunlap over their box and just kept them warm... two of them died, but one of them made it and she is living with us today.

I know this video is about 2 years old but I just wanted to say thank you for helping these poor creatures. I too have been doing them same as you...rescuing neglected and stray kittys for years. I just caught a Pregnant cat today that lived in the ghetto in a McDonalds parking lot for almost a year. I am not sure of her temperment...she needs time to calm down. I too have spent so much money out of my own pocket. Its a never ending battle unfortunately. The cats you have helped appreciate it.

People like us who have little, seem to be the only one's trying to make a difference. I guess maybe it helps to not have the means to care about the latest gadgets or latest fashions.

I took all the kittens. One was euthanized, had advanced pneumonia. The other two both had severe herpes infections but survived and got homes. Herpes is for life however.

The vets I use are very kind, and very affordable also. they also keep a gift card account there, for me, so that people can donate directly to the clinic to help pay for rescued cats to get the care they need. This situation, this street, is now under control, with all the cats fixed, sick ones taken care of, it's turned around now.

Excellent work. It's highly commendable what you're doing. I would donate but I already support The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).

An idea though, have you thought of raising capital for your own 'charity' by asking people to pledge their support, by you & maybe some friends, e.g. running a marathon or jumping out of an aeroplane? ... it worked for me! But whatever you do, keeping going.

I've thought about a stunt donation drive. However, I am not a nonprofit, so cant' get cash donations yet. My vet has a fixing fund for me, however, and a gift card fund, that people can contribute to fixing area cats and to medical expenses for rescues. I have tried to get an Oregon Feral fixing group to go for a trapathon, a competition to see who can trap the most feral cats for spay/neuter, which also would be included as part of the event, in 24 hours.

Everyone reading, please take heed of the lesson to be learned here. Get your cats fixed! Most feral cats are kittens someone just had to have... Then when the kitten grew to an adult cat and wasn't so cute anymore... Perhaps it pee'd on the rug, then next thing you know, the cat is thrown out of the house and abandoned... Within seven years a single pair of feral cats can produce 420,000 kittens!

I do not have a site. I am just an animal lover, who suddenly had the feral cat population around my house explode and had to do something about it. With the help of my family we managed to find homes for 13 feral cats last year! Had to put the money into them, getting them shots and fixed, to make them more adoptable. The good news is it seems like it is easy to find homes for cats if you can somehow get them fixed first. I am going to email you, friend.

Update on this colony: Weed, the orange tabby male kitten, survived and was recently adopted. Tulip, the long hair torti kitten, survived and will be getting a home December 21. Mickey, the adult orange and white male, whose eye had exploded and was later removed, got a great home in British Columbia! Brambles, the tux male teen, recovered from conjunctivitis, herpes caused, and is still here awaiting a home. I have now fixed about 36 cats at this colony, with five still to catch.
