VLX600 IS AN AWESOME BIKE,I HAD A BUDDY RIDE HIS FROM MIAMI TO CALIFORNIA,DIDNT BURN/LEAK 1 OUNCE OF OIL, SUPERRRRRRR REALIABLE & THEY GET INCREDIBLE GAS MILAGE TOO.
This is what I'm looking for now , moving up from a 250 Nighthawk. I looked at tech specs but could'nt find the info I needed , do these have gas gauges, and are they good highway bikes? My 250 hits those groves in the highway and throws me around too much. Very nice bike , sounds great.
@Junglemon1 It doesnt have a gas guage what can happen is it will run out of gas and the light will come on then you reach down and switch on the reserve. it can handle highways but is also not the greatest with grooves or with strong side winds.
@thespeez There are 5 speed models.. Dont know why but the 4 speed model was build till 95 and then again from 2000... I own a VT600 with a 5 speed transmission.
@MetallF - Did you have that tranny put in or how did you get it? Reason I ask is because according to all the information I have available to me, the 600 only came with a 4-speed.
@thespeez It's not modified, it was made in Brasil I think, i bought it from italy a couple of years ago. i'll post a video reply if asked, to show it.
@MetallF - Maybe the Europeans and Latin Americans got a different transmission with this bike. We here in the 'States only got the 4-speed through the end of production in '07. :(
I have a 2002 and I have no problems with speed some people get a smaller rear sprocket to give them a little more top end, I believe they go from a 44t to a 41t on the rear. I 'm thinking of doing it to mine.

I think that Honda should've never gotten rid of this bike. All it needed was a 5-speed!

@sliprok100 I have the 2006 model which is the same thing and Ive gotten it to 90 mph but Im also 6'2 220lbs
