I'm a bit ambiguous on this issue, VioletNews. Sadly, I think Mr. Hartline has some good points about Contracting HIV in these locations. He's working to protect lives from the disease. At the same time, he seems to only be arguing this case on the ground that it's a GAY establishment. AIDS seems to be his indirect and secondary focus, second to the fact that the place cateres to gay.
What you can do is argue that his information is misleading, that AIDS is a disease that can affect anyone, not just gay people: Whether or not it's true, it doesn't matter if gay people are more susceptible by the kind of sex they involve themselves in, everyone needs to be protected. I personally think THAT statment is Jame's Hartline's fault in his argument.
Personally, I think we can settle in the middle and still bring back a new club that caters to Gay people. I would hate to see a club closed simply because it caters to gays (and again, I think THAT was Hartline's actual primary focus).
My simple argument: The club should be re-open, but there should be certain regulations on sexual activity, anything that could reduce the chances of AIDS. Safe-sex guidelines should be on the walls, and such.

Throughout the antiquity world bath houses were very common.
It was a place of cleansing, rejuvenating, discussion and reflection.
Most unfortunately, we have lost touch with this great concept of recreational establishment. The gay bathouses, however, are somewhat the closest remnants of ancient bathouses.
Gay bathouses serve a purpose - I wish they were more classy and less moldy - think Roman bath!

Addiction(s) is going to a place where you have sex with people you do not know-which helps the spread of diseases. On top of that, drugs are sold freely in bathhouses-This does not help the fight against AIDS at all. It henders it completely. Addiction is more than a drug-it's a compulsion. If police and governemnt knew what went on behind those close doors, they would be closing down these places left and right! We want to fight the war on Aids, not continue it!

The thing is, homosexual sex itself is not even destructive. UNSAFE sex is/can be, and James Hartline was having unsafe sex. However, he found it easier to blame it on his homosexuality because his society would support such a claim itself.

I'm a bit ambiguous on this issue, VioletNews. Sadly, I think Mr. Hartline has some good points about Contracting HIV in these locations. He's working to protect lives from the disease. At the same time, he seems to only be arguing this case on the ground that it's a GAY establishment. AIDS seems to be his indirect and secondary focus, second to the fact that the place cateres to gay.

What you can do is argue that his information is misleading, that AIDS is a disease that can affect anyone, not just gay people: Whether or not it's true, it doesn't matter if gay people are more susceptible by the kind of sex they involve themselves in, everyone needs to be protected. I personally think THAT statment is Jame's Hartline's fault in his argument.

Personally, I think we can settle in the middle and still bring back a new club that caters to Gay people. I would hate to see a club closed simply because it caters to gays (and again, I think THAT was Hartline's actual primary focus).
My simple argument: The club should be re-open, but there should be certain regulations on sexual activity, anything that could reduce the chances of AIDS. Safe-sex guidelines should be on the walls, and such.

These people blame their stupid irresponsible behavior on others, like the bathhouse. But the majority of the people who went to the 2200 Club were careful and wore condoms when they played. I think public bath houses are not "health clubs" and are primarily used for permiscuous sex and that Mr. Hartline feels a need to protect others from the misfortune he feels he has contracted in one. He does seem rather "hell-bent" by his sudden "turn-around" in character and I would like to see him become more positive and loving in his approach in dealing with the lives and livelyhood of other gay men and women. Bathouses are Bad and so is the way Mr. Hartline goes about outting them.
