I think it's important to remember that medication can be a huge help, if used correctly. I have ADD, and I was on mild medication for about four years when I was younger, but I stopped a few years ago. The time I was medicated was instrumental in helping to develop coping mechanisms so that I could function without medication.
The industry built on misdiagnosing kids or convincing them to buy medication when it's not necessary is horrible, but we need to remember that some of us do need it.

I'm not sure what you're saying we parents of children frustrated in their own skin should do to help our children. It's a big job to care for a kid who doesn't think like most people do.
Medication is one of our tools to help kids focus. My son is happier with himself when he understands more clearly what's going on in the world around him.
@czickgraf I don't think Rafael Casal is trying to insult the way parents choose to medicate their children. if you listen you can hear that it's an ode to his nephew. It's about being yourself no matter the coast, it's about big industry business benefiting off the welfare of our children. It's about teachers and peers and perfectly good strangers who will view a child or an adult like myself who struggles with such things as ' lesser then'. Screw all the labels, ADD does not exist, they want everyone to be machines. I lived through the lies of phama, I was injured by them, and now I fight back. People are not a machine, we are supposed to be unique and that uniqueness should NOT be suppressed by medication.

I'm not sure what you're saying we parents of children frustrated in their own skin should do to help our children. It's a big job to care for a kid who doesn't think like most people do.
Medication is one of our tools to help kids focus. My son is happier with himself when he understands more clearly what's going on in the world around him.

@czickgraf I don't think Rafael Casal is trying to insult the way parents choose to medicate their children. if you listen you can hear that it's an ode to his nephew. It's about being yourself no matter the coast, it's about big industry business benefiting off the welfare of our children. It's about teachers and peers and perfectly good strangers who will view a child or an adult like myself who struggles with such things as ' lesser then'. Give it another listen it might empower you. <3

i got labeled with ADD when i was in 7th grade, instead of hiding it, i told everyone, i accepted it as a part of me, and i never let it make me inferior, it just meant i think diferent than you. so yeah, this hits me in the heart

Screw all the labels, ADD does not exist, they want everyone to be machines. I lived through the lies of phama, I was injured by them, and now I fight back. People are not a machine, we are supposed to be unique and that uniqueness should NOT be suppressed by medication.
