If you can plant...do it. If you dont have space, do container gardening, I know this is not the solution to the world, but it will cut down on the money we spend.
I think we all wish we had an easy solution, but sadly we dont.
Just start taking care of each other at home.
We cant rely on our government not lately anyway, so better just take care of you and yours. help a neighbor, give fresh vegetables to the elderly..do what ever it takes.
This is just the beginning of a food crisis. Costs of cheap food are going to be a thing of the past just like oil. If you can, grow your own food in your back garden.
Great. We're looking at new trade wars because people are too stupid to understand that not just the prices of gas and food, but of EVERYTHING, is going up because of fiat monetary policy and inflation.
Why do you think the World Bank and IMF are promoting all of this foreign aid? So countries will go further in debt to help countries crippled by debt!
Hemp, as a biofuel, instead of squandering vaulabal food supplys such as corn. make a great deal more sense to everyone who has researched the alternative fuel question. with exception of our Goverments continued ban in commercial Hemp production & biofuel use.
Combustion engine is old tech with moving wearing parts that old car companies love because they can sell more service, oil, filters, parts, etc
Electric motors are more efficient. A single Law would make electric cars a reality, a retroactive 3 year cap on patents.
The entrepreneurs that made the batteries for the EV1 sold their patent to GM who sold it to Texaco(which was bough by Chevron), so no one can use that 10 year old tech. Without that criminal scam we'd have electric cars by now
"A single Law would make electric cars a reality, a retroactive 3 year cap on patents."
That is pure insanity. The 20 year grant of monopoly given to inventors is necessary to offset the huge costs of R&D and other overhead. By practically decapitating the balance that patents have achieved, you would send the most innovative country ever back into the dark ages. Technological progess would grind to a halt and move elsewhere.
Oh not you again, just joking, we have diffenrent views and have to live with it ;)
U are for government imposed monopoly patents? (strange I had thought youd be of the Free Market crowd)
The NiMH patent is actually killing the technology, and you over estimate the positive impact of patents.
A lot of discoveries are by researchers that dont have patents in mind, its Profiteers that want patents to profit (sometimes buying the patent for pennies or using subsidies to pay the cost).
The founding fathers recognized protection of intellectual innovation as property rights, which is why they included the duty for Congress to "promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts." Patents, copyrights, and trademarks are hallmarks of a free society with inalienable property rights.
Virtually all inventions thrusting humankind to the edge of discovery and were huge steps in mankind's progress were done under the patent system. We might not have had them for decades or more.
"When government creates the problem the solution is not more government it is less. "
Thats like saying if someone farts the solution is to remove the air and try to breath vacuum.(just joking)
Imo, the problem is that the government/media/banks are not of, by, and for the people, its not democratic, its for the Elite which use corps as feudal fiefdoms. The same goes for the red herring of Fiat vs Gold, if in either case the banks/elite control money instead of the people were screwed.
Big Oil as the ressources to sabotage alternatives that would break the people's addiction to Oil.
Monsanto uses its ressources to highjack the laws, when a Monsanto-oligopol controls seeds with terminator genes poluting the gene-pool of crops, famines will be easy to orchestrate for profit.
Poor countries are armtwisted into producing stuff that corporations can sell in rich countries for a greater profit instead of producing food locally to feed the local population.
-You just hit the nail on the proverbial head. We are only just seeing the beginning of the crisis ahead of us. Monsanto is also creating a further monopoly on the food supply by going into our seed banks and putting patents on everything they can get their hands on. See the video "The Future of Food" (on YouTube). The best weapon the average person has is to buy local or grow our own food (using heirloom varieties)-thereby reducing fuel consumption use.
The cardinal sin of this reasoning is that it reflects the glassy-eyed optimism that pervades young political philosophers and thinkers. To entertain the idea that any government can be good & immune to the inherent opportunism in all of us (the human condition), is naive, and harms the people it intends to help, however well-intentioned.
The only good government is small government. That is a universal truth.
