great idea! i wanted to buy a backdrop but i realised the price was high and i figured an even cheaper way to make one simualr to yours! but thnx for the idea! :)
@DannysSlowLane put two lights pointing 45 degrees on each side of the green screen then one behind you and then one infront to light you...make sure you stand about 3-5 feet away so that there are no shadows..also turning on some lamps and ceiling lights help :) hope I helped you!!:)
Nice job! As a longer term solution than the pins, I'd suggest velcro straps, the kind they sell as cable wraps. Stitch one end down to the fabric, and then you can tighten it around the PVC and anchor it down to pull the fabric smooth.
I like the velcro idea! I saw a screen someone did with cloth ties that worked really well, but that just takes time and energy I don't have right at the moment! I figure I'll try a few things see what works best... thanks for watching and commenting!! ;)
Nice tutorial. You are giving the videomaker channel on YouTube some stiff competition! Still, they cover some topics that you haven't covered yet, so you might check out some of their videos, like "Videomaker - Setting up a Green Screen" and "Green Screen Tutorial: How to Light A Green Screen" (Can't give you links, but you can find them through the YouTube search).
But since they don't have a purple sewing machine, I think you still win.
There's some great tutorials on YouTube these days. I just figured since I was doing this anyway I might as well film it... show that someone with no experience can still figure this out! Thanks for watching and commenting, glad you like the sewing machine!
good to see you back girl, i think though you could have bought a plastick waterproof sheet used for camping cheeper than all those parts and juat hung it up behind you, and got the same efect, and it could be folded away easily. just my opinion. but as i say good to see you back looking forward to more archy stuff from you.
plastic sheets tend to reflect light... you need something matte. And I wanted a frame so I could a) hang other backdrops on it, and b) use it in hotel rooms where they usually don't take kindly to you sticking things to their walls! More archy stuff soon, have no fear!
That actually looks pretty easy and inexpensive. The only thing I might do different is use a fabric adhesive instead of a sewing machine because I destroy everything in my path when I sew. You can get a bottle of liquid thread glue for under $5 and it'd be more than enough and easier to apply.
Hey, that's a good idea! I don't know how well it would or wouldn't work since I've never used the stuff, but its definitely worth a try! Let me know if you give it a shot... Thanks for the comment!
"Automatic" button-holing isn't always what it's cracked up to be. After various levels of fail by my expensive Pfaff (random lengths, mismatched sides, etc.), I just chalk outline where I want the button-hole, then use the zig-zag stitch, set to really short stitch-length, with low tension, two rows, then bar-tack the ends. Works just fine.
HEY!! EVERYBODY I HAVE A TUTORIAL VIDEO!! FOR CHROMA KEYING WITHOUT GREEN SCREEN!! IT WORKS 100%

Great video. Would have been better if you had slowed it down a bit to allow us to see what pieces you were using for each step.

Haha! Thanks! I figured since I was building the darn thing I might as well record myself doing it.
And yeah, I know its cute. But its a Singer, it only cost $40, and its a little tank. Only thing it doesn't do that I might need are button holes!
