The new episodes, though some might not agree with me, cannot compete with the old ones. The previous seasons had its fair balance between humor and emotional scenes, now it's all 'watch-homer-hurt-himself', and flat guest stars. When I watch the new ones, I hardly laugh anymore, and I forget so quickly. While the seasons 3-8, that was the series golden years, the episodes were epic then. I guess entering the 21st century took some of the spark away, much like what happened to Disney.

While there are a number of reasons that you might reminisce regarding old episodes, I think that the fact they can continually find new ways to have homer hurt himself, as well as bringing us a story every week, speaks to the cast and crew. We all may have favorites (Armin Tamzarian), but I enjoyed the recent "Waverly Hills" episode, as well as this intro. What you either fail to realize or respect, is that old shows must reinvigorate themselves. Or die.
