sounded like a b and m transpak kit, all they do is shim up the accumulators 2nd and 4th, block off the line bias valve in the valve body, enlarge clutch feed holes on the plate and swap the original pressure regulator valve for a stiffer one, (change springs.) Rather crude way of doing it, but it works and the drive shaft can feel it. lol
even my LG4 used to shift like that into third... with the help of TCI tranny ans 373 gears.. so there is nothing fake about this.. yea it shifted like it had balls but didnt,lol.. the modded 5.7 transplant should be done soon.. thank god...
@KiNgOfSuPrAs actualy a shift kit in an automatic will destroy a manual tranny. thats why if you go to the drags almost everybody uses a auto. you cant shift fast enough to keep up with an auto with a shift kit. i seen manuals in the drags and as soon as there front end dives down from loosing power for that split second the auto car is gone. the auto dont have shift lag its right there all the time.
@cbr900rr919 1. You can't use a "shift kit" in a manual tranny, they're totally different beasts. A shift kit will increase the line pressure to the torque converter, which reduces slippage AFTER the shift. However, less slippage = more heat, which is why the shift kit will burn-out your auto if you don't add a tranny cooler.
2. Drag racers prefer auto tranny's because of the torque multiplication from the torque converter not because the tranny shifts quicker.
@FatFred2U Years ago my dad put a shift kit in my truck, I'm still driving it. Transmission isn't burnt up. And yes you are correct about the torque multiplication, but that's only for take offs. Unless you have a lock-up torque converter you'll be losing power on the top end because a torque converter always has a little slippage unless it goes into lock-up mode (if it has it)
@blindskater200 Now look under your truck's radiator and tell me you don't have a tranny cooler,... factory installed. Truck's have to deal with heavier loads on their transmissions, so the factory adds the cooler as a standard feature. Hence, adding a shift kit to a truck is a lot less risky than adding one to a car without a transmission cooler.
@FatFred2U What car does not have a factory trans cooler built into the radiator? All automatics I've seen have had cooler lines that have lead up to the radiator. Even your IROC, which had the 700R4, would have cooler lines going up to the radiator. Ford's C4, which was used in Mustangs for many years, also has cooler lines. Every automatic transmission that I personally have encountered has had cooler lines running up to the radiator.
@FatFred2U A torque converter has a certain stall range, where it will allow the motor to rev up to that point but not have the input shaft rotating at the same speed. This allows for your motor to get into it's powerband, that's why when choosing a torque converter you must take your cam into consideration. Once the converter reaches its stall point, most of the slippage is taken away, but not all of it, unless you have a lock-up converter.
@blindskater200 Wrong again. When choosing a stall speed speed for your vehicle the two primary considerations are the vehicle's weight and the torque curve (paying special attention to the torque peak). The TC should stall 400 - 500 rpm BEFORE the torque peak, as this is where the engine's greatest rate of acceleration occurs.
@FatFred2U Drag racers prefer autos becuase they can build power quickly AND because they shift quickly. And, trust me. I work at a transmission shop and me and my father are into drag racing. Check out my Mustang video where you can see my dad's shop and his green Drag Stang in the back ground of one of the pictures.
@aminimaleffort Cool story, bro. But at least I have videos to back up my claims. And so what that it says I'm in to skateboarding? If you couldn't derive that from my name alone then you're ignorant. Also, I do not have a site, it's a YouTube channel.
@aminimaleffort Oh one final thing, me saying its primary function was lubrication was wrong to an extent. Trans fluid is used for transferring power, yes we know this, we also know it is used to take heat away from the trans, but you can not and nobody else will ever use antifreeze in their transmission because it gives almost NO lubrication and you MUST have lubrication in the trans. Eventually transmission fluid deteriorates and provides less lubrication, which causes more heat.
@aminimaleffort More heat means more likely that a transmission will fail. You are a complete dumbass if you think antifreeze could be used as an alternative to transmission fluid.
who is the dumbass, ethylene glycol (antifreeze) is used in all automatic and hydroshift transmissions in the far north of canada as conventional transmission fluid gels and does not work.
@aminimaleffort I can not believe this. Auto trans fluid has detergents in it, anti-rust agents, and much more that antifreeze can not offer. Plus, it provides very minimal lubrication at all. Something has to be added to it if your statement is true because I know you just can't throw some antifreeze in your trans and run it or everybody WOULD be doing this.
@FatFred2U And one last thing, you are HIGHLY wrong with your "less slippage = more heat" it's actually the opposite. More slippage is more heat and heat to an auto is the main killer. It breaks down the transmission fluid to where it doesn't lubricate like it should.
@blindskater200 ATF IS NOT designed to be a LUBRICANT. It conducts heat away from the heat producing components, supplies line pressure for the shift mechanism and to a very small extent: lubricates (how well do you think the bands and clutches in an auto tranny would work if they were bathed in lubricant?). In a stock auto tranny, the ATF can last 100K miles (or more), but add a shift kit and no aux. cooler and see what happens in less than 10K miles.
@FatFred2U Ok, I have done this. And guess what? Still driving the mother fucker. And tranny fluids PRIMARY function is a lubricant but is also a coolant. Oh, and also, at my dads shop we recommend changing trans fluid every 18,000 to 20,000 miles. So, are you gonna trust a builder that's been building for over 30 years or are you gonna go off information YOU got off the internet? Because as far as I'm concerned, you've no proof you know what you're talking about.
wrong fuckwad, not primarily a lubricant, it is hydraulic fluid with an anti emulsion agent, it is to transfer power hydraulically. you could use antifreeze if you wanted to.
@aminimaleffort No, you fucking could not. That's why there's TRANSMISSION FLUID you dumbass. Answer me this idiot, why do some vehicles take SPECIFIC tranny fluid? Like ATF+4 and Mercon V, Dexron? You cannot use antifreeze because it has little to no lubrication and you do need lubricant for any moving part on a vehicle don't you? Yeah, so you can't tell me you can use antifreeze.
@blindskater200 About 11 years ago, one of my IROC's blew a fuel pump in a one horse town. I called their local Chevy dealership to have the repairs done and he said he'd arrange to have the car towed. When the tow truck arrived he lined-up to the front of the car. I asked him what he was doing and he said the mechanic at the dealership had told him Camaro's were front-drivers. The mechanic became indignant when I questioned him because: he had "30+ years working on Chevy's".
@FatFred2U And by the way, I was assuming your car was the auto. If you had the manual trans (T-5?) then it would not have a cooler or cooler lines. But I have encountered a 6 speed with cooler lines and a trans cooler. It was in an F550.
@FatFred2U Go to my Bronco video and my F150 video, on the back glass there's the name and number of my place of work. So, I have even a slight bit of proof that I actually work with transmissions, where's yours?
@blindskater200 Everyone who works at a garage thinks they are an expert. Which is why so few of them are. Wanna know the difference between an "expert" and someone who isn't? The "non-expert" will listen to the question and think about it, before he decides he knows the answer. The non-expert understands that saying, "I don't know" is not a sign of weakness but rather it's a chance to learn and improve.
@klyppaz313 yeah me too. rebuilt the motor, has a magnaflow exhaust all the way back, minor odds and ends ive done. put a bunch of work into it, restoring it basically. i have exhaust vids on my page.
A L69 or "G" code 305 is 190 horse and LB9 is 210 hp, biggest difference with mine was that my HO had 3.73's and my 92 TPI car had 2.73's and there is a world of difference from a LG4 to a L69 parts wise..those things run out hard, I surprised a lot of 5.0 miustangs and douchebag imports and although i have no way to prove it I also outran a IROC tpi 350 with my little 305 HO carb.
i got a 85 z28 5-speed 305 bored out with a bunch of other stuff finally drove the car on the street first time dumped the clutch had a burnout long as hell then chirped second didnt even get the rpms that high really surprized me my friend asked me did i have a headrest cuz his neck snapped back when i shifted
@megaenvy I've had a 305 in my 86 IROC as well. It was carbed with a 600 holley, action plus intake and a voodoo cam. Ran decent, it did burn rubber going into second but yours is just wicked, my trans had alot of miles tho.
@drawer26 the stroke length between a 305 and a 350 is the same, so therefore a 350 won't have a real torque advantage to a similar 305. Torque makes the launch.
@backgammon7 The torque peak and peak VE almost always occur at the same rpm. The 305 with it's smaller bore suffers from severe valve shrouding (even with the tiny-ass stock valves) which limits flow into (and more critically) out of the combustion space. The smallish exhaust valve required by the smaller bore also contributes to heat buildup around the valve seat (which are very prone to cracking) and poor exhaust scavenging (which is key to cylinder filling).
@backgammon7 The only intake configuration where the 305's torque even comes close to a 350's is the TPI, and then only because the factory TPI was designed from the outset for the 305 (with no consideration to optimizing it for the 350 when it was decided to use it on the larger engine). Give an 350 TPI engine intake components designed for it's cylinder volume (SLP runners and an Accel base) and it's torque increase leaves the 305 well behind.
Ask any transmission guy--- what the cheap B&M shift kits do to a 700r4. A common mis-conception of "shift kits" is that the harder they shift, the better--- thats wrong. What you want is an instant positive shift, period. If you cant afford a custom transmission, get a stage 2 or 3 TransGo--- they're about $100 and they dont "reroute" the fluid and kill your bands.
i dunno man my buddy had a 88 t/a gta with a shift kit n that sum bitch shifted at way higher rpms. sometimes i caught myself going... shift already goddamn it!
i had to do a couple of vid responses... the other to were well... very weak. the car is a 94 lt1 w/4L60E b&m shift kit 323 gears on 245 50 zr16. oh and the engine is stock... hahaha ok maybe not lol
@JPARKERZ28 That's very nice. I've got a 96 z28 I'm going to post here soon, it's got some tasteful mods, and it shifts prety quick but it doesnt chirp the tires. I'll let you when I have it up if you'd like.
@megaenvy i put up some vids of the car as it sits today... looks alot diff then it did in my burnout vid. anyway the car is on 285/30/19 rear front 255/40/18 let me know what you think
@JPARKERZ28 I really like the rims you have on your camaro, I've got c5 vette rims for mine mickey thompson ET street radials in the back. Nice burnout by the way. What kind of mods are done to the car?
@OldSchoolmobile. i really think you dont know crap about a car. talking badly about a mopar isnt very smart. specially when my dads 1972 cuda has a 372 and it would kick the shit out of any truck car or any other "amazing" vehicle you have. so stop talking crap
@curlyfry93 good for ur dads cutsie little 372. til we see a video of it you can stick your dads imaginary pos up ur ass. and the only good thing comin out of mopar is the OLD hemi BLOCKS and the cummins. the rest is scrap.
@megaenvy the cummins is only found from my knowledge in the dodge ram pickups unless your lookin for a big box truck like a ups truck or a firetruck etc... good motor with a shit driveline.
@onebadgazelle Yea, that's what I ment. And I completely agree with you on that. Now a cummins paired with an allison, that's a potent combination lol.
@megaenvy haha ya... still dont make the sound of a ho ho max. only thing w a cummins is maybe a little more longevity, but its doubtful. can;t wait for the haters comments about their dads and buddies w a cummins goin 4 million miles w/o even changin the oil.
@onebadgazelle Yea, I'm more a fan of the duramax myself, but cummins is right under it in my book. Good and bad things can be said about both motors, but it really comes down to preference. My father has an 03 silverado with the 8.1 gas and I really like it too, has alot of torque for a gas motor. I've got a video up of it if you wanna check it out.
@chevymanjosh For one, I'm doing around 45 in first. Second you can hear it rev that high. Third, you say a 305 is a turd, yet you say it cant rev to 7000 rpm, so obviously you dont know jack shit. DOnt be jelous because you aint got shit that c an match this. And you can shit talk all you want but untill you upload a video to prove it your just a shit talking little punk. I'm really looking forward to seeing you talk out of your ass with nothing to back it up.
@megaenvy So what your doing 45 in first, thats all depends on the gears it has, and no it sounds nothing like 7 grand. Im not jealous about your turd of an engine. I have a 355 in my 83 t/a so I know what 7 sounds like. You wouldnt even know if you were doing 7 cuz according to your other vid your tach doesnt work and its stuck at 7000. So quit lying fag
@chevymanjosh Oh man I knew it. I knew you'd say you had some kind of car thats faster and better then mine. But oh wait, you still have no video of it! What a shocker! And if you read the comments youd see that i said it did have a broken tach, thats why I put in a new one to see were it shifted. But hey good try trying to upstage me and prove me wrong. But I'm sure your dumb ass will try again :) Ignorant shit talkers like you are such good entertainment!
@chevymanjosh Yep your right I lied, because my life is soo sad I go on the net, post videos, and lie about them because it makes me happy. It's not like you can hear it rev to 7 grand anyway. Once again you cought me, oh what a fool am I. Jackasses like you make me laugh.
@megaenvy Well by the sounds of it the engine way already laying down before you shifted which sounds like 5000rpm max. I see you deleted where it said you shifted at 7000. Ive got no beef with you man, just dont come out bragging its doing something that its not.
@chevymanjosh Look, I don't know what your talking about me deleting a comment. But I'm not saying its doing something its not. It shifts at 7 grand, you can believe it or not. And I have no beef with you as long as your not being completely rude like before.
@megaenvy I wouldn't run any cast rod up to 6000 rpm, (especially the thin 305 rods) but if you wanna give it a go, fill yer boots. You'll soon have a bad case of excessive crankcase ventilation (and well before you get near 7000 rpm) but hey, it's your car and if you didn't like driving it anyways,...
@megaenvy Notwithstanding that a stock 305 TPI (as per your description) starts to run out of breath at 4500 rpm, there's a bigger problem that'll prevent you from revving to 6000 rpm,... the stock 305 cast connecting rods. While the 350 and the 305 have the same stroke they don't share the same rods. The 305 rods are noticeably thinner. And you can't simply swap in a set of 350 rods because the 305's pistons won't allow it (the pin bosses on the 305 pistons are spaced for the thin 305 rods).
@ZWILD1 so u can tell if you have a 305 or 350 by lookin at the rods? i ask this because i bought a 84 z28 about 3 weeks ago and i cant be sure this is a 350. Its carbed and its pretty darn fast has lots of giddy up but i wana be sure so i know what i can and cant do with the motor...
@alonzogry The easier way to determine which block it is by looking for the casting i.d. and matching that up to one of the online reference sources. To i.d. the rods you'd have to tear the engine down and it doesn't sound like you want to do that. If it is a 305, the ESSENTIAL upgrade is a set of "World Products - 305 Torquer" heads and accompanying valvetrain mods. In 2002, I had a bracket racer built using a 305 block (310 c.i.d.) and dynoed at 346 hp using TPI!
@alonzogry You've got the location right. Look for an eight digit code. The last 3 digits refer to displacement and the original transmission. D5x denotes a 350 and DHx a 305.
Nice man. Not to up stage you or anything but mine is a stock 305 TPI with 700r4 tranny and it chirps switching to second. I dont have a shift kit tho. Im tryin to get one. Puls mine has a problem with over drive. When i take off fast from like 25 it will shift down then to over drive then down again then over drive then down. I have no clue why it does that. I have a 85 IROC
Even though that is not a 305, everybody needs to stop hating on the 5.0 liter. One of the car magazine i believe it was popular hot rodding did a 305 build not even the HO model and ended up with 372 HP and close to that in torque. They used a mild comp flat tappet cam and some 1.5 roller rockers and a set of cast iron vortec heads with 1.94 intake 1.5 exhaust valves. They also used 600 demon carb. They spent less than 2,000 on the parts. Once all the smog crapt is off it breathes quite well.
the 305 makes GERAT power considering it was designed in the early 80s and makes comparable power to engines made in the 70s that were much larger. same power as 80s/90s ford 5.0 engine howcome 200hp is "slow" in a chevy car yet it is praised in the mustang?
@oldschoolmobile yo ur a retard. The vette isn't made just for top and botto end. It's also made to round corners real good. A mustard or Buick can't. With ford.... The problem is circled
more people hating on a 305....*sigh*....Nice car man, always nice to see someone work with one of the less liked small blocks....although i ditched my 305 for a 350 :/
y u going to hate on 305 sbc i have built 3 and got some power and lower rpm torq ive made 310 hp off na tbi shit motor that was as fast 13.50 104 with just lt1 cam computer intake and tbi stock heads lol. i mean wtf its a push rod motor that from 80s that u cant kill to easy ... less then 1200 .bucks plus 19 20 miles to the gallon
Really? You ran mid 13's on a 305 without spray? Post up a video or stfu because that shit is about as realistic as me beating a Whipple Cobra w/my truck.
ive read the things that youve been saying, and from all that ive gathered your a dumb ass, brand loving, narrow minded loud moth. and until the new ford 5.0 comes out in the 2011 mustang ford never made a true 5.0L engine, they rounded up just like chevy. the only bad thing about a 305 is small displacement and a stock camshaft that tended to wear out real fast. finally, just because chevys larger displacement motors dont boast huge power doesnt mean they cant. same as ford, ford just likes S/C
Mid 13's with an N/A 305 in a thrird gen is easy you dumbass, you only need about 300 BHP/255WHP to do that. Headers, any aftermarket 4v intake/carb and about a half inch of cam lift will do the trick. Put $500 into any 305 and it'll make 300 horse, 13's aren't that big a deal, and I'm sorry you think they are.
Source: Did the above mods to my 3,600lb. 305 1976 El Camino and ran 14.09 @ 96.82!
@oldschoolmobile You must not know shit about the 305 my homo friend. The only reason the 305 made such low horsepower is because of the small bore, 3.75 and the small duration cam, plus all the retarded smog equipment like the smog pump. With less than a thousnad dollars i can get a third gen non HO 305 to run mid 13's. So stop acting like a homotard and yes i am a mechanic.
thats a sick fuckin shift kit if ur chirpin the tires that hard goin into second with a stock 305.... and whoever says 305 motors are junk i have a built 305 in my iroc right now its bored over .30 all forged internals cammed like fuckin crazy with a holley 750 4 barrel ive walked vipers with my "boat anchor" u want some put 1000 cash up ill come to you... i mean fuck that 305's are junk shit i can rip mine sideways at 70mph all day
You bring your piece of shit 305 down here to San Antonio Raceway and bring the pink slip to your POS Camaro so I can sell it to make my truck even faster yet. A 305 is nothing more than a boat anchor period. If they were soooo badass, they why the hell doesn't ANYONE with real engine building skills ever use them? And just because you claim "you walk Vipers" with that POS is the same as me saying I can walk KB Cobras in my truck. Never gonna happen.
@ KeithWasHere1 Typical lame ass non-Texan comment. All the haters on Texas because It's the only state that can still be self sufficient all on it's own. And I figured you'd back out of a heads up race w/your POS 305 junkpile. The only real 5.0 ever made was the Mustang 5.0L. And as history repeats itself, the Mustang will yet again trounce GM/Mopar ass w/a "little old 5.0"
go fuck yourself and your mother while your at it you stupid Nazi ass texan, you fuckheads are too full of yourselves. take all your mopar and shit talk and shove it straight up your sister's (whose probably your wife)cunt! let people do what they want to do and like what they want to like you fucking Third Reich Sieg hail motherfucker!
Can you post up some more details about your car? What kind of exhaust do you have? My engine used to sound like that but I replaced the muffler with a Borla and its too quiet. Also, do you know what the RPO code is for your rear end? You should post some more vids!

FatFred2U 3 months ago
@FatFred2U What car does not have a factory trans cooler built into the radiator? All automatics I've seen have had cooler lines that have lead up to the radiator. Even your IROC, which had the 700R4, would have cooler lines going up to the radiator. Ford's C4, which was used in Mustangs for many years, also has cooler lines. Every automatic transmission that I personally have encountered has had cooler lines running up to the radiator.
blindskater200 3 months ago
@FatFred2U A torque converter has a certain stall range, where it will allow the motor to rev up to that point but not have the input shaft rotating at the same speed. This allows for your motor to get into it's powerband, that's why when choosing a torque converter you must take your cam into consideration. Once the converter reaches its stall point, most of the slippage is taken away, but not all of it, unless you have a lock-up converter.
blindskater200 4 months ago
@blindskater200 Wrong again. When choosing a stall speed speed for your vehicle the two primary considerations are the vehicle's weight and the torque curve (paying special attention to the torque peak). The TC should stall 400 - 500 rpm BEFORE the torque peak, as this is where the engine's greatest rate of acceleration occurs.
FatFred2U 3 months ago
@FatFred2U Drag racers prefer autos becuase they can build power quickly AND because they shift quickly. And, trust me. I work at a transmission shop and me and my father are into drag racing. Check out my Mustang video where you can see my dad's shop and his green Drag Stang in the back ground of one of the pictures.
blindskater200 4 months ago
@blindskater200
asswipe, your site says you are into skateboarding, not drag racing. you are a child.
aminimaleffort 3 months ago
@aminimaleffort Cool story, bro. But at least I have videos to back up my claims. And so what that it says I'm in to skateboarding? If you couldn't derive that from my name alone then you're ignorant. Also, I do not have a site, it's a YouTube channel.
blindskater200 3 months ago
@aminimaleffort Oh one final thing, me saying its primary function was lubrication was wrong to an extent. Trans fluid is used for transferring power, yes we know this, we also know it is used to take heat away from the trans, but you can not and nobody else will ever use antifreeze in their transmission because it gives almost NO lubrication and you MUST have lubrication in the trans. Eventually transmission fluid deteriorates and provides less lubrication, which causes more heat.
blindskater200 3 months ago
@aminimaleffort More heat means more likely that a transmission will fail. You are a complete dumbass if you think antifreeze could be used as an alternative to transmission fluid.
blindskater200 3 months ago
@blindskater200
who is the dumbass, ethylene glycol (antifreeze) is used in all automatic and hydroshift transmissions in the far north of canada as conventional transmission fluid gels and does not work.
aminimaleffort 3 months ago
@aminimaleffort I can not believe this. Auto trans fluid has detergents in it, anti-rust agents, and much more that antifreeze can not offer. Plus, it provides very minimal lubrication at all. Something has to be added to it if your statement is true because I know you just can't throw some antifreeze in your trans and run it or everybody WOULD be doing this.
blindskater200 3 months ago
@blindskater200
anti-freeze has rust inhibitors, lubricants, if you do not feel it is a lubricant rub some between your fingers.
why would everyone be doing this, it is not cheaper.
aminimaleffort 3 months ago
@FatFred2U And one last thing, you are HIGHLY wrong with your "less slippage = more heat" it's actually the opposite. More slippage is more heat and heat to an auto is the main killer. It breaks down the transmission fluid to where it doesn't lubricate like it should.
blindskater200 4 months ago
@blindskater200 ATF IS NOT designed to be a LUBRICANT. It conducts heat away from the heat producing components, supplies line pressure for the shift mechanism and to a very small extent: lubricates (how well do you think the bands and clutches in an auto tranny would work if they were bathed in lubricant?). In a stock auto tranny, the ATF can last 100K miles (or more), but add a shift kit and no aux. cooler and see what happens in less than 10K miles.
FatFred2U 4 months ago
@FatFred2U Ok, I have done this. And guess what? Still driving the mother fucker. And tranny fluids PRIMARY function is a lubricant but is also a coolant. Oh, and also, at my dads shop we recommend changing trans fluid every 18,000 to 20,000 miles. So, are you gonna trust a builder that's been building for over 30 years or are you gonna go off information YOU got off the internet? Because as far as I'm concerned, you've no proof you know what you're talking about.
blindskater200 4 months ago
@blindskater200
wrong fuckwad, not primarily a lubricant, it is hydraulic fluid with an anti emulsion agent, it is to transfer power hydraulically. you could use antifreeze if you wanted to.
aminimaleffort 3 months ago

blindskater200 3 months ago

FatFred2U 3 months ago
@FatFred2U And by the way, I was assuming your car was the auto. If you had the manual trans (T-5?) then it would not have a cooler or cooler lines. But I have encountered a 6 speed with cooler lines and a trans cooler. It was in an F550.
blindskater200 3 months ago
@FatFred2U Go to my Bronco video and my F150 video, on the back glass there's the name and number of my place of work. So, I have even a slight bit of proof that I actually work with transmissions, where's yours?
blindskater200 4 months ago
@blindskater200 Everyone who works at a garage thinks they are an expert. Which is why so few of them are. Wanna know the difference between an "expert" and someone who isn't? The "non-expert" will listen to the question and think about it, before he decides he knows the answer. The non-expert understands that saying, "I don't know" is not a sign of weakness but rather it's a chance to learn and improve.

661chaos661 9 months ago
@661chaos661 I was never really sure but I was told its a B and M stage 3
megaenvy 9 months ago
@drawer26 the stroke length between a 305 and a 350 is the same, so therefore a 350 won't have a real torque advantage to a similar 305. Torque makes the launch.
backgammon7 1 year ago
@backgammon7 The torque peak and peak VE almost always occur at the same rpm. The 305 with it's smaller bore suffers from severe valve shrouding (even with the tiny-ass stock valves) which limits flow into (and more critically) out of the combustion space. The smallish exhaust valve required by the smaller bore also contributes to heat buildup around the valve seat (which are very prone to cracking) and poor exhaust scavenging (which is key to cylinder filling).
ZWILD1 1 year ago

@OldSchoolmobile. i really think you dont know crap about a car. talking badly about a mopar isnt very smart. specially when my dads 1972 cuda has a 372 and it would kick the shit out of any truck car or any other "amazing" vehicle you have. so stop talking crap

@curlyfry93 good for ur dads cutsie little 372. til we see a video of it you can stick your dads imaginary pos up ur ass. and the only good thing comin out of mopar is the OLD hemi BLOCKS and the cummins. the rest is scrap.
onebadgazelle 1 year ago
@onebadgazelle Um, you know all mopar does is put cummins in the dodge ram right?
megaenvy 1 year ago
@megaenvy the cummins is only found from my knowledge in the dodge ram pickups unless your lookin for a big box truck like a ups truck or a firetruck etc... good motor with a shit driveline.
onebadgazelle 1 year ago
@onebadgazelle Yea, that's what I ment. And I completely agree with you on that. Now a cummins paired with an allison, that's a potent combination lol.

onebadgazelle 1 year ago
@onebadgazelle Yea, I'm more a fan of the duramax myself, but cummins is right under it in my book. Good and bad things can be said about both motors, but it really comes down to preference.

ZWILD1 1 year ago
@megaenvy Notwithstanding that a stock 305 TPI (as per your description) starts to run out of breath at 4500 rpm, there's a bigger problem that'll prevent you from revving to 6000 rpm,... the stock 305 cast connecting rods. While the 350 and the 305 have the same stroke they don't share the same rods. The 305 rods are noticeably thinner. And you can't simply swap in a set of 350 rods because the 305's pistons won't allow it (the pin bosses on the 305 pistons are spaced for the thin 305 rods).
ZWILD1 1 year ago
@ZWILD1 so u can tell if you have a 305 or 350 by lookin at the rods? i ask this because i bought a 84 z28 about 3 weeks ago and i cant be sure this is a 350. Its carbed and its pretty darn fast has lots of giddy up but i wana be sure so i know what i can and cant do with the motor...
alonzogry 1 year ago
@alonzogry The easier way to determine which block it is by looking for the casting i.d. and matching that up to one of the online reference sources. To i.d. the rods you'd have to tear the engine down and it doesn't sound like you want to do that. If it is a 305, the ESSENTIAL upgrade is a set of "World Products - 305 Torquer" heads and accompanying valvetrain mods. In 2002, I had a bracket racer built using a 305 block (310 c.i.d.) and dynoed at 346 hp using TPI!
ZWILD1 1 year ago
@ZWILD1 thanx so the casting number wld be behind the driverside head and the front passenger side right?
alonzogry 1 year ago
@alonzogry You've got the location right. Look for an eight digit code. The last 3 digits refer to displacement and the original transmission. D5x denotes a 350 and DHx a 305.

Once all the smog crapt is off it breathes quite well.

ive read the things that youve been saying, and from all that ive gathered your a dumb ass, brand loving, narrow minded loud moth. and until the new ford 5.0 comes out in the 2011 mustang ford never made a true 5.0L engine, they rounded up just like chevy. the only bad thing about a 305 is small displacement and a stock camshaft that tended to wear out real fast. finally, just because chevys larger displacement motors dont boast huge power doesnt mean they cant. same as ford, ford just likes S/C
mcelhenyma 1 year ago
Mid 13's with an N/A 305 in a thrird gen is easy you dumbass, you only need about 300 BHP/255WHP to do that. Headers, any aftermarket 4v intake/carb and about a half inch of cam lift will do the trick. Put $500 into any 305 and it'll make 300 horse, 13's aren't that big a deal, and I'm sorry you think they are.
