  • Best by far. Had this on a lost tape thank God for YouTube. Thought mutilated it, Bahamdia was crowned lyrical queen and Malik B remains crazily underrated!

  • o shit this was 16 years ago????? im getting old. i think i still have the cassingle somewhere

  • mmm...very nice.

The Roots back in the day were breath taking at times.

Thought's verse at the end is dropped with such effortless precision.

  • Not big into alot of "rap" but I love this song.

  • I didn't even get into the true artist from the south that opened doors for rapper in general. The obvious is OutKast. I'm talking about 1994 before it all became commercial. The thing is no one is making music like the music from the 80s & early 90s. Cats from NY making music about partying, money, b*+(#$, hoes, sex, clothes, cars. This dude said "nothing relevant to what real hood niggas go thru" came out the south. Nigga please. Before T.I., Wayne, there was UGK, 8ball & MJG, & Goodie Mob.

  • Super Joint.......

  • .. fo real tho!

  • THIS IS TRUE HIP HOP!!!!! BEST LYRICIST IN THE GAME.. BLACK THOUGHT..

  • Love the roots ever since they dropped "Proceed" pt.1 , but I have never heard pt. 3. Where can I get it.

  • I miss the real ish

  • Now this is Real Hip Hop. I havent heard this track in so long.....this brings back so many memories and Black Thought did his thing. FUCK THIS RHYME AND BULLSHIT THATS OUT NOW!!!!!

  • you motha fukaz below me named al the east coast crews..no doubt they're bad but you forgot the freestyle fellowship ripping since 89' shape shifters, hip hop kclan, loot pack, slum village, company flow, 3mg, come on....!!!!get with it!!!!!

  • Don`t forget the entire Hieroglyphics crew representing Oakland.

  • can't forget about them...but east coast crews are too lost on their names that they forgot about the music...hiero/som/hobo junction/B.U.M.s/Living Legends/extra prolific/...just letting them know the west coast is supreme...just naming a couple westcoast crews...

  • @kevhar12 hell yeah big ups to the Hiero one of the dopest crews on the west coast ever

  • i shalll... PROCEEED

  • Video poster Do you want more was released in 04

  • no it wasn't, it came out 1995...

  • The Roots are the badest and the best Hip Hop group evah next to Outcast, Public Enemy, Grand Master Flash, Run DMC, BDP, De La Soul, and Tribe Called Quest!! The Roots have always represented Hip Hop to the fullest consistently! The Roots are the epitome of HIP HOP!! The Album Do You Want More from 1994 will never get old! Thank you Roots for all your work and keeping real Hip Hop alive!! This is real music! Ya don't stop!! Take note, this is real Hip Hop!

  • The Fugees? Eric B & Rakim? Poor Righteous Teachers? Little Brother? Wu-Tang? I agree with you but there have been tons of great hip hop groups and there still are, they're just harder to find. Which is probably a good thing since the people that are willing to look past the mainstream are the kind of people we want keeping hip hop alive.

  • Next to???? Although I have much respect for your list.....The Roots kill all those named with a close 2nd given to PE and ATCQ

  • The Roots is the badest, and the best Hip Hop group evah next to outcast, De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy and Run DMC!!! The Roots always have and always will be the epitome of HIP HOP!! These cats truly and consistently represent Hip Hop to the fullest!! Do you want more!! Ya don't stop!! All wanna be mc's take note this is real Hip Hop, this is real music!!

  • Black Thought is number 7 on my top 10 list n ill fight for him to be there n any day

  • i got him at number 6 on my list. everyone knows he's really good, but people gotta recognize that he's one of the best

  • Yea i just seen him yesterday at Rock The Bells..... the Roots were def the highlight of our show... this bastard Common bailed on us though

  • Of the Organix, pure

    Eargasmatic, from Distortion to Statics

    download: "DVDvideo soft free studio"

  • Same here.

I used to listen to this on my commute to school during my first year of college.

  • smoooooooth piece

  • Never heard this joint, sick though. I like the Faze-O beat they PLAYED, not sampled. Bahamadia is the Greatest female emcee ever. She raps circles around 90% of the male emcees especially today, but to say that about her in the 90's is sayin something.

  • This is one of my favorite hip hop songs of all time. The beat is infectous, real talk.

  • yeah it's infectous all right

  • This was the one of first time I heard of Bahamadia 2 years before she dropped her solo album Kollage (1996).

  • Ya the Roots show was the only thing worth sneaking into at Depaul collage. but i just went to Philly for the first time, What a fucking gem of a city!

  • PHILLY CLASSIC!!!

  • I've seen them live, he!he!

  • "ridin high"- faze-o. and i'm only 17!

  • Malik Kills this JOINT

  • he ALWAYS does!

  • nice song, positive lyrics rules!

  • listening to this in contrast to the shit out now...wow it's really scary wat Hip-Hop has become.

  • it still exists my friend..check the main video on my youtube page..up and coming hip hop/jazz band named ArtOfficial..your welcome

my email address is also on my page..if you like what you hear drop me an email and i'll send you their EP "Stranger" fo free! real hip hop is coming back

  • classic! But if you got Bahamadia's Funk Vibe, THEN you know you're a true hip hop head!

  • I love how The Roots can play an infinit number of sounds for 1 trak, I seen them like 10 or 11 times and its always different melodys for 1 trak, i guess thats y i am so attracted to them.

  • Still got this one on vinyl...damn. get yaself some turntables kids!!

  • This is what real rap was now tell me it wasn't

  • Flash Back 2 boatHouse Norfolk Va, Bahamadia,Goodie Mob& the Fugees OMG what would I do to go back to that night. Electrifying

  • Yes yes, I caught that same tour in Santa Cruz, Ca. Easily one of the dopest nights of my life.

  • Out of all the Proceed versions, this one is my favorite. I remembering by the 12 inch for this back in the 90's. I played the instrumental back to back all day.

  • Limewire Has This version!!!!

  • never found this version before on tape or disc ro anything. Only reason I know it exists is because I saw them perform it on Teen Summit, haha.

  • well at least you got to see them, all the music I've heard that's old skool has been on here,I'm not upset about that"I'm not good at lying am i",but you cats that got to see good music like this live are lucky asses...that's all I'm sayin

  • lol teen summit. i got it off the homegrown cd's

  • So respect to all you catz checckin this track out!! peace out yall! spread the korrect message and the philosophy shall follow

  • Hiphop's a way of life, about livin a colorful art: the music, the production thru turntablin and scratchin, the graffitti, the breaking, the rappin, its all about being your self adn expressing yourself, being different from otherz and showin it off. "Hiphop" today is NOT hiphop, its just clubbin music and its BS, hiphop is about the ar, not about bulshit superman hoez, u think u know hiphop? f#$% you go thru yo city adn appreciate some grafiti insted of listening to reggaeton.

  • word up!!

  • too right man....

  • so true...

  • @zzzzzzxxxxxx WORD!!!

  • @zzzzzzxxxxxx

    wwwwwooord!

  • yo any6ody no the name of the song that has this 6eat 6ut snoop dogg ,beanz and freeway is on it

i think it was on a mix tape

6ut if any6ody find out let me no

  • you missed a 6 when you wrote beanz ^^

  • The Roots + Roy Ayers=FLOW:)

  • this is not a roy ayers sample. its a song called riding high by Faze-O. check it out on youtube. peace

  • part 2 features Roy Ayers on it

  • stop you know how long i been searching for this

  • WOW! That's all I can say. Just f**** wow. This re-mix is BEYOND classic.

  • True Hip-Hop. "Proceed" is one of the dopest, illest Hip-Hop joints ever. Roots+Bahamadia=Hip-Hop magic.

  • black thought is off the meter!!!

  • this is serious.

  • I had a cassette single with proceed, proceed II, and proceed III. It was practically album rockable. I really miss the kind of hip hop where the artists try as hard as they can to come up with beats AND rhymes.

  • this is sick :X:X:XX:X

  • can someone define "real" hip-hop?

then define "real" rock? Its a special, very cherished, and under celebrated sect of hip-hop, but you have to embrace it all...even if its not your cup of tea.

    "Different, not dificient"

  • Hip means to be update and relevant

    Hop means the movement.

    Rap means:

    R hythm

    A nd

P oetry Nothing came out of the south talking about Jena 6 or barack obama

NOTHING RELEVANT to what real hood niggas go thru. All they talk about is partying. I know the music is for the youth but, these new young cats NEVER hustled in the hood. Come on soldier boy platinum? that shit's ridiculous.

  • @whutdahelkid dont doubt the south, cos k-rino's one of the hardest out

  • I'm tired of people talking bad about 1 region or another. Real Hip Hop is from everywhere. There are true lyricists from all over. If you're not into the West Coast Gangsta Rap, there was The Pharcyde, Tha Alkoholiks, Del tha Funkee Homosapien all from Cali. That's a sample. Not many rappers can hit you with the metaphors, lyricism, intellect of Rass Kass. I mean someone who knows history & more than what's going on in the hood. If you don't know about them your knowledge of hip hop is limited.

  • @whutdahelkid preach my brother!

  • this is the best out of all three!! but truth be told, they all tight

  • This one is the sickest by far!!!!

  • No the one with Roy Ayers is the best, but this is incredible. Bahamadia's a dope emcee!

  • I'm with you on that. Bahamadia's mad underrated, and it's always a pleasure to hear her rip a verse. But the Roy Ayers remix just has that... vibe.

  • I concur! And its crazy how much artistic talent has come out of philly over the years

  • this is a good track but not as great as the original.

Check out Bahamadia"s album "kollage" It's pretty dope, lots of Primo Tracks.

  • To the person who posted this: I give you mad props. This is a pretty unknown track and people who know it are TRUE hip hop heads.

  • thanks man...real hip-hop...always livin'!

  • @Billytok97 NOW I DO BLESSER...

  • This track is just LAVA!!!!!

  • illmatic - thats right!

  • I haven't heard this joint since 94 this is great!!!!!!!

  • I can feel the groove in this song.

  • i love it...

  • Hard 2 find this on vinyl. I would love to get this and add to the crates.

  • This is on the b-side of the "what they do" vinyl single. I have it and there is no way I'm ever gonna let it go! lol!

  • One of the greatest remixes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i second that....this is the reason why i bought "do u want more"...and it wasnt on the album...

  • puffed alot of L's to this beat.

  • Me too...the good old days...
