How to really fix Explorer.exe-The problem and how to fix it

Guys i know how to slove this problem, just download explorer.exe from any site, and then drag it to Windows files -> and then ues New Task (Run...) and write explorer.exe and everything will be fine, believe me! that happened to me

Thanks for reminding me of this fix haven't had to use it for awhile but that worked just fine. Turned out that the explorer.exe was Explorer.exe which was caused the error message to come up when system shutting down or restarted. Some people need to realize that this may not work because they have some other problem that could be software related..ie conflict between two programs, etc. Nice work 3ds cudos :)

a windows update when wrong and my Explorer.exe wont load on login, till now I have been opening it with task manger then run. but now that only opens computer folder and also my sound broke and i had to use subtitle... dident understand a bit of them try it. i did what i could by following the video and i still need to relog to see if anything happend. ill post if it worked.

u can fix that by finding ur browser and downloading advance system care and after u installed it open it and click tool box and find winfix and click scan and press fix after ur done restart ur computer and BAM ur screen is back (hope it helped) i had that problem too but i fixed it

thanks... What if it seems modified. Mine says Explorer.exe, instead of explorer.exe. The file does not have a capital, yet the entry does. Then with hijackthis, the entry is Explorer.EXE ? The c:\windows\explorer.exe was modified on reboot a little while ago. is this normal? In other words, the modified date was when I just rebooted it. I extracted a virus that i didn't run the virus executable for, but did run the .nfo (failed to load) it was really a .iso with added extension... HELP!

Well, I just did this, my shell said Explorer.exe which I changed to explorer.exe and then restarted my computer. I will keep you posted after checking on this for a while but right now explorer.exe is behaving itself and running at around 24,900K and is maintaining approximately that level. It was originally increasing at 4K per second. I am running XP. Thanks very much for your help, you rock!

Update: explorer.exe is still behaving itself. Been using heaps of programs with many windows open at once and no dramas at all.  Usage has obviously gone up but goes down again once programs are closed. I was just running about 25 chrome windows with about 12 programs running, I know, I know, heaps of things running at once but I have a joy computer and it's always been able to cope well with it until this recent bug. I can say that (for now) it is back to it's old self. Thanks so much!
