I love the way Lucas pretends that he had the entire Star Wars saga planned out from the beginning. In this interview, he's talking about the original trilogy anyway. We all know that had Lucas penned the screenplay for Empire, it wouldn't have been as good. Or even if he would have directed it at that. In other interviews, Lucas makes it out like, during the time of the original trilogy, he had written 9 stories. The Original, 1-3, and 7-9. But we all know the prequels were written on the fly.

Or even with Anakin being revealed as an old man, at the end of Return of the Jedi, Anakin was more of a peer to Obi-Wan and around the same age originally, then he winds up being a guy nearly 20 something years younger. Back in '83, Yoda taught Obi-Wan. In 1999 Liam Neeson taught him. Lucas clearly made shit up as he went along instead of having complete skripts.

And actually, at the end of the 3rd film, Yoda tells Obi that he'll instruct him on some things (Like talking to dead jedis).

StarWars -Episode 4, Empire-Ep.5, etc. I'm saying that Lucas, in 1983, acted like he had the scripts for Episode 1-3, shelved and waiting to be shot, but I think that's bullshit. I think that Lucas began writing each script for the prequels during pre-production of each of the episodes and that he just made shit up as he went along; ie. Anakin building 3PO, Anakin being so much younger than ObiWan, STroopers being Jango Fett clones.

Love the original trilogy.... but it´s kind of interesting how Lucas, in an attempt to free himself from the industry ended up turning into a huge part of it. Which gives the story of Anakin a deeper meaning I guess.... I hope there´s some Luke in the future to redeem his father from falling to the darkside and making shitty movies.

@bootstomp2010 i disagree. but i was talking about the trilogy dvd meaning the documentary of how the old star wars movies 4,5, and 6 were made and how he came up with the idea and what it took, he had help of course, but for movies like star wars. you'll see if you watch the trilogy dvd, it was very very much of a pain to make, and was hard, allot was modified from lucas's story, but the main character personalities stayed the same, the physical parts changed.

I think the apologist fanatics cherry pick what Lucas is credited for (all the good bits) and that everyone else were just mindless lackeys. Lucas got rid of all his no men after ESB. Okay, if Lucas is the one brain behind Star Wars then he isn't a genius after all, because the Prequels stunk and in those he was director, writer and executive producer. Believe me they did stink, and that's not just because I grew up with the OT. I've watched thousands of movies and the PT was dire in every way.

I love the way Lucas pretends that he had the entire Star Wars saga planned out from the beginning. In this interview, he's talking about the original trilogy anyway. We all know that had Lucas penned the screenplay for Empire, it wouldn't have been as good. Or even if he would have directed it at that. In other interviews, Lucas makes it out like, during the time of the original trilogy, he had written 9 stories. The Original, 1-3, and 7-9. But we all know the prequels were written on the fly.

@Trekiefreak777 Because I really don't think that George Lucas in 1983 thought of having Anakin racing in a "podrace" in Episode 1. Or even with Anakin being revealed as an old man, at the end of Return of the Jedi, Anakin was more of a peer to Obi-Wan and around the same age originally, then he winds up being a guy nearly 20 something years younger. Back in '83, Yoda taught Obi-Wan. In 1999 Liam Neeson taught him. Lucas clearly made shit up as he went along instead of having complete skripts.

And it wouldn't surprise me at all if he had a Podrace planned out. He probably saw Ben-Hur, and he said that Star Wars was inspired by several epic/fantasy things. And actually, at the end of the 3rd film, Yoda tells Obi that he'll instruct him on some things (Like talking to dead jedis).

The line,“An old friend had learned the path to immortality.” doesn't really sound like Yoda saying,"Hey, I'm going to teach you to talk to Qui-Gon Jin and be immortal when you die, so you can help Luke blow up the deathstar one day." But I guess it's open to interpretation. Sounds more like Qui-gon's going to teach Obi. Or Obi-Wan was part of a huge classroom of "younglings" taught by Yoda? StarWars -Episode 4, Empire-Ep.5, etc. I'm saying that Lucas, in 1983, acted like he had the scripts for Episode 1-3, shelved and waiting to be shot, but I think that's bullshit. I think that Lucas began writing each script for the prequels during pre-production of each of the episodes and that he just made shit up as he went along; ie. Anakin building 3PO, Anakin being so much younger than ObiWan, STroopers being Jango Fett clones.

Love the original trilogy.... but it´s kind of interesting how Lucas, in an attempt to free himself from the industry ended up turning into a huge part of it. @bootstomp2010 i disagree. but i was talking about the trilogy dvd meaning the documentary of how the old star wars movies 4,5, and 6 were made and how he came up with the idea and what it took, he had help of course, but for movies like star wars. you'll see if you watch the trilogy dvd, it was very very much of a pain to make, and was hard, allot was modified from lucas's story, but the main character personalities stayed the same, the physical parts changed.
