  • Some trivia about who actually sang on the studio recording of this song. It is ex Pilot lead singer David Paton. Paul invited him as he needed a "scottish" sounding voice on the song. What a shame Paul left him out of the video.

  • I LOVE this SONG soooo much!!!!<3

    Paul you the BEST!!!<3

  • SIR PAUL AT HIS BEST

  • what a song....to have bagpipes in a pop record in the 70's was a stroke of brilliance. Im scottish so every time i hear this song the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

hat off to Paul...what a record and a true family man..note to Heather Mills....everyone makes mistakes in life and you were Pauls mistake...enough said..the man is a legend.

  • So true. This is Paul at his best.

  • emocionante video

  • So simple, yet so beautiful! Paul's just so amazing! How cute were Mary and Stella playing on the beach?!

  • Oooo heard this song for like 5 years ago, have been looking for it ever since :< Found it <3

    Lovely song

  • When McCartney got it right, he got it REALLY right.

  • This is a good video, usually the McCartney videos are pure cheese....(think London Town)

  • this is the entire McCartney clan...nice.

    -Muhldoon

  • SCOTLAND!!

  • whisky!!

  • YUM!

  • Whenever I hear this song I think how happy he and Linda were how sad she is gone.

  • I'd remember this song when it came out, and had to visit Mull of Kintyre. My wife and I had a lovely BBQ on the beach it hasn't change much at all.we went in 2006.The scots are the best hosts ever(I'm not Scottish)Polite and welcoming.Even the assholes are nice :-)

  • Valley Floyd Road the mist rolling in from the thames my desire is always to be found at valley floyd road...... legendary song type it in at Cafcfan14 please its a must hear song tx

  • Linda got him out of the city and out into the countryside. That was one of the things he liked about her in the beginning. For that I give her props, even with the phony accent and all.

  • One of my all time favourites.

    Great video.

  • Nothing beats the Frog Chorus... lol

  • I have a magnificant war record... it's Pipes Of Peace, by Paul McCartney

  • Utterly fantastic no other words to describe it really in my scheme of things...everyone where I live just loved it

  • this song just can't be denied, absolutely killer, his best solo song along with "maybe i'm amazed"

  • Mulligan's Tyres as me da used to sing.

  • who's the woman in the video walking with them, is that his first wife? or just a band member?

  • both, thats his wife and bandmate linda mccartney

  • It's Linda, carrying James (I think) First and only real wife..

  • can women smoke pipes, just wondering.

  • Why shouldn't they?

  • why shouldnt they? explain please.

  • I wasn't replying to the comment about other people laughing at this song, if that's what you think.I was replying to a different one.

  • The Irish and the Scots come from the same ethnic family though.... and the Welsh,Bretons,Cornish,Manx and Gallicians,UP THE CELTS!!!!

  • i want to learn a song or two, with them there bag pipes, i am a native american woman, or is it just for dudes? someone get back to me on that, cause sometimes there is just some things woman cant participate in, well in my culture as well as others....

  • Women Can learn to play the pipes very well. It only takes dedication, and a strong breath. My cousin learned the pipes for Eastern Star, and she was great. Give it a try if you want, though you might look at the Caltic pipes, which are sustained by an left arm driven bellows. They start with a "V" but check out The Chieftens for a good example of it.

  • ye, it was released in late 1977, and features on christmas compilations. beautiful song, im surprised it hasnt got more hits here.

  • ...The country of Scotland..just mis-judged was all.

  • tut, tut, theres a big differnce between ireland and scotland. thats like saying oh elvis came from canada, oh sorry it was usa. ha ha.

  • ...it took place in Ireland.

  • All I know, this is one of Pauls' great ballads..I love it.

  • Where is Mull of Kintyre? Is it really an island?

  • Well, Kintyre is an peninsula, and the Mull is it's southern cape (mull (scottish) = cape, foothills)

It's in the very west of Scotland, really close to Ireland; you can actually see it across the sea.

  • its on the west coast of scotland, its not an island but it takes so bloody long to get ot it may as well be, google a map of scotland you'l see it kinda on the south west part of if dangling lol

  • why is this great song never played on the radio.

  • Probably because it isn't a "rock and roll" song. In all my years, I don't think I have ever heard it on the radio. Total shame!

  • i have heard a lot of people sneer this song. paul doesnt play it at his concerts, which is a shame, because really it is a great song.

  • he plays it live when hes in scotland for obvious reasons, and canada cos theres so many scots. Its a really good love song to a really amazing place...but maybe im biased slighty co si live about 20 miles from kintyre lol

  • it seems to be an amazing place, lovely scenery. mull of kintyre is a great song, yet so many singers laught at it , dont know why.

  • This song was on the radio back in the late 70s when it was released. But only for a brief time,as I recall.

  • ye, but its never on the radio now anymore, thats what i mean.

  • Poor aul Sir Paul, bet he was longing to be at the Mull with the lovely Linda when he was going through the divorce with the gold digger.A beautiful song,a timeless classic.

  • This song WAS written by McCartney with his band Wings. There's no two ways about it.

  • Paul will never sing this song again unless he is accompanied by the 48th Highlanders from Toronto Canada. My border collie has the official name of Mull of Kintyre. Her name is Mully for short.

  • I heard this song when I was about 10 years old. I just loved this song but I didn't know the song's name. Twenty five years have passed. I always wanted to know the name of this song. Today I stumbled upon this familiar music again from a Paul Mauriat CD. I finally found out the name of this song. Of course I found this video on Youtube. What a lovely, gently song with a sense of sadness. I moved continent away from my home many years ago. The song made me so homesick.

  • i was 11 when i heard this beautiful song. there was a boy in my class called eugene mulligan, and our teacher used to call this song mulligans tyre. saly eugene was killed in a car accident in 1988 aged 21. this song reminds me of a dear friend called too soon. such is life. take care.

  • Aye. You reet there y'ar so!

Can you guess where I am from too?

  • Damn I miss my home

  • one of the best song of the best song writer Sir

    Paul Mc Cartney

  • sory but he didn,t write it

  • sorry but he did.

  • shields is stupid

  • absolutely perfect song-the acoustic guitar, key changes, the pipes..sweetly sung..sir paul is the best. period

  • For some unexplainable reason I always feel like crying when seeing this video. No idea why.

    Amazing song.

  • can you imagine these bagpipers with my home drummerS?, I AM NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN WOMAN, LET ME ME TALK TO MY BROTHERS AND SEE WHAT WE CAN DO, HUH? I'M SURE THIS MIX WOULD BE SOMETHING FOR THE WORLD TO ENJOY, AND VERY EMOTIONAL,...

  • Why does Sir Paul look permanently startled?

Great fucking song and Paul deserves his knighthood and is good to be rid of that one legged gold digger.

  • oh my mom used to sing this to me at bedtime *cries* *feels a little sleepy*

  • I love it when the pipes come in with the band on the beach i always get a funny felling when i here a pipes band amazing instrumunt i love scottish pipe bands

    im english!

  • Great song.

You should listen to the English pipes.

  • I have this odd feeling that a lot of Paul's melodies were fated to exist, as if the world wouldn't be quite complete without them. This song feels like it always existed, but it took Paul to bring it into our conscious mind.

I'm rambling nonsense. Great song. :p

  • that makes sense, beautiful song.

  • Beautiful.

  • Great song,great memories.

  • I have a list of 20 songs I want played at my funeral.

    This song made the cut.

  • flipping heck - that's going to be one long funeral! ;)

  • How about Ding dong, the witch is dead? Or, their coming to take me away,ha ha,to the funny farm? Or, the star spangled banner?

  • I have this on a 45 (has Girls School on the A side). Great song!

  • i sung this at my grandads funeral he was scottish and a great man :')

  • would somebody sent this song to me???

    423184645 in ICQ!!

    it's for my grandma...thanks a lot!!

  • this is a beautiful song, and was the biggest selling single of all time in britain until band aid and other charity songs came along. its a very underrated song, but for me its one of my favourite songs of all time. its up there with any beatles tunes, and im the beatles number one fan.

  • I love the Bagpipes

  • According to Beatlesongs, his was actually the first song to break the She Loves U selling record. And even though it is a very good song, its not as catchy and doesnt seem like it would sell as much. And it hasnt gone down in history like She loves u.

    Peace...

  • That Song..!!!!!!!!

It's become a great football chant.

City Ground ,Mist rolling over the Trent.

Brian Clough is a football Genius

  • This song makes me want to cry...*sigh* all the pretty places are going away.

  • My dada was born there!!

  • Scotland forever.. some of my scottish roots are the Orkney Islands.

  • i was up there near his cottage/house, can anyone tell me what house is his, there are about 3 different ones in that area that could be his. thanks

  • I found the LP between daddy´s Records and now I´m addicted to this song! :-)

    Thank you, Paul!

  • i want to live in that place

    away from this f-----g computer

and these people i don't know or like

i don't remember how i was before it all took me over

there, i could get back to where i once belonged

    wherever that was

  • paul is cool.

  • makes me emotional, its a nice song.

  • wow... i really love this song. paul rox

  • This is a really sweet and beautiful song. I'm not Scottish but I get sorta nostalgic when listening to it. Is a mull like a hill or field?

btw, I find it ironic that a Paul viedeo probably wouldn't be on MTV nowadays.

  • Mull is an island, Paul MacCartney isn't Scottish so it shouldn't make a difference, i'm not scouse but i like strawberry fields :)

  • I miss Wings. I miss Linda. Sometimes the world is cruel. They should have grown old together.

  • And you'll miss Jimmy. Jimmy McCullough left shortly before this song was recorded (he would die in 1979 from a gunshot wound).

  • great song salute to the scots :)

i had to sing this song solo in front

of 380 people when i was 10 years old

    *BLUSH*

  • yeah, great song, sends shivers down your spine, especially when the bagpipes kick in

  • indeed

  • Couldnt agree more. I always get very nostalgic for home when I hear this. Scotland forever!

  • this is my only favourite song from the wings

  • Thanks for posting this! This song has become a favorite of mine in the past few years; something of my genetic heritage, and it speaks to a love of Planet Earth and special places, touching my soul...

  • linda, we miss ya

  • Love the cottage in the background. Pretty song!

  • ironic that a line of mull of kin tyre is "SWEET THROUGH THE HEATHER".

  • he did go sweet through the heather

  • And Heather got a sweet amount of cash out of him!

  • thank god for paul, i hope you get over your ex quickly

  • of my own culture and origin, i admire the pride and basic home flow, iam native american,i am from northern minnesota and very much proud of that,i am now in florida, very far from my people, but iam cool, everyone is my people, we are all here to love and cherish mother earth, mi guich

  • One of Paul's most beautiful songs and a great video. The song should have been released as a single in the USA back in the late 70's since it was a huge hit in the UK at the time.

  • It was released in the US, but it flopped. It only made it to #33, and the US was the only country in the world that it was released in where it wasn't a huge hit. Who knows why. I think it's still the highest-selling single of all time in the UK.

  • One of my fav songs. I also love it when the bagpipes come in.

  • Always one of my favorite McCartney songs. Something achingly beautiful about it...the bagpipes were the perfect touch. Pure genius.

  • sweet song takes me back to the good times when i have hard times

  • absolute GREAT song! Roll on McCartney!

  • Co-wrote by Denny the biggest selling 7" single until Live Aid in 1985... thats Castletown Pipe Band the drum major is excellent with the mace!

  • Beautiful song Paul has made.

  • I doesn't knew that Paul McCartney is a left Hand Guitar player. But this song is very nice.

  • lovely paula

  • gotta love the pipes

  • Do you? Why you must visit me up on the Mull and blow my bagpipes.

  • Yeah now yer talkin'. You like Journey per chance?

  • You say that like its a good thing! emos are the most selfish, spoiled dicks around. "oh no nobady loves me and the world hates me" when will they wise up and stop wasting peoples time! plus they look so stupid!

  • They're just going through hard times!

  • what 24/7?

even kids living in poverty and hardships in 3rd world countries smile at least ONCE a day

  • theyre fuckin nutters

  • Hey at least I don't like some bigheaded arsehole or nobody like say Morrissey! That guy is such a washed up prick. Him and the Cribs.

  • Hey man, don't diss Morrisey. He really helped develop music! If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have emo, he was the original!

  • exactly - its his fault these faggots are runnin about depressed and they're the skid marks on the pants of society.

    quality tune btw.

  • but emo is shit?

  • "If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have emo"

How is that a good thing? EMO music sucks.

  • From someone called vanhalendefleppard I don't think you have ANY right to comment on music sucking, unless you go by the "takes one to know one" rule.

  • Oi, woodjoewood, why don't you go home to your mum's gaping growler?

  • Me or the Bluelight? you got to be specific or else we'll be all over the shop with insults and people will get hurt and before you know it someone will poke their own eyes out and thats not a pretty sight......trust me!

  • Neither is your mum, after having been pounded by yourself and every other simple minded, goggle eyed and tasteless journey fan, and swallowing so much semen it comes out her ears.

I bet you're the sort of arsehole who thinks that KISS were a talented and innovative group. You probably have the smegging toothbrush....

  • Why is he a melon? For not listening to a bunch of Yank bastards who couldn't write music if their lives depended on it?

  • What you talking about you flapjack! why you got take both bands down? and sincory1221 when was the last time you listen to journey, what a melon.

  • go home mate.

  • As much as Wings rides a cock horse, Journey ate shit during gigs and it showed in the music that got played.

  • Wings couldn`t touch Journey! Journey had hits like "don`t stop believein`" and "any way you want it!". Wings had mull of Kintyre and that bond song and christmas jingle that make people want to jump from very tall buildings hoping they land on a spike.

  • Yoko clearly had paul drugged and she wore some kind of mask. Paul never knew it was her till that fateful night. Plus Wings ain`t that bad! Still not as good as Journey!

  • Woah, woah, Woah, WOAH ,WOAH, WHAT?! Journey better than Wings? You just pulled one on me.

  • No way pldh1, why would Paul go with Yoko when he had that fox Linda?

  • Actually theBluelight1 Paul was killed by Yoko in the 60s to cover up an affair they had one night at a hotel in bognor. Lennon found out and pressed Yoko for a divorce. She squibed him! As for the look-a-like its just Ringo in a wig and on some stilts!

  • Paul was killed in the 60s (I'm looking at you Yoko) and from the serious lack of song writing ability his look-a-like had they shouldn't have tried to cover it up.

  • Why did this song go largely unnoticed in the USA? The obvious Scottish influences, perhaps?

  • I love how so many of his songs start out nice and slow and and simple and by the end of the song it becomes a frenzy of music.

  • fantastic beutiful song.I liked it so much I made it a holiday to visit Mull of Kintire and the isle of Mull. What a wonderful wonderful holiday, stress fee and lovely people.

  • Paulie, excellent tune. You were always my fave. I knew you weren't dead.

    _syd

  • like the song

  • !! herrlich !!

    ..zum wegträumen :)

  • One of my favourite songs from when I was a little girl. I love Paul's voice and the bagpipes are like a call to come home.

  • paul's voice is awesome, look at wings' history you'll find them successful only in the years paul was in

  • ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL...Paul you are a legend mate...onya Linda...G`Day from OZ!!!

  • love this song. great scenery, great video, long live paul and ringo, john and george are in paradise. beatles forever. rip linda, gone ten years now, but never forgotton.

  • Love it. Thanks.

  • This song sold more than any song of the Beatles topping the charts for 9 weeks and selling 2100 000 in the U.K alone.

  • One of my favorite Paul songs!

  • haha jack and victor at 3:09

  • Too bad the tinny guitar and straining voice of the "singer drowns out the pipers. Just let the pipes play and be done with it.

  • Beautiful song. Its too bad the proud scottish people were sold out .....annexed,if you will.

  • nice song, of course. If nothing, it show's Linda McCartney's determination to be in every video her husband ever made.'What's he doing on that fence, out there?'She said, looking out the kitchen window, as she stuffed a pepper with another pepper.'He said he was just popping out for dandilion leaves.' She goes to the door.'There's a f**in' film crew.'She quickly checks her hair in the window and casually strolls out. Paul's attempt at a nonchalant escape is too late and she's with him all day.

  • Have you ever thought that they loved each other, and that Paul wanted Linda in the group?

  • i think you are right. just a bit of fun.

  • True. They were soul mates.

  • The MALE line died out but not the entire line. What is wrong with you?

  • Awesome! When I see the pipers approaching from the distance, I feel like I have definitely been there before...It must be my Scottish ancestors calling! I am a descendant of Robert I the Bruce.

    Alba gu braith!

  • Sure you are. Who is this, please?

  • Eh... Are you kidding me??? It`s PAUL MCCARTNEY of the BEATLES.

  • no your not his line died

  • Study your history before you open your mouth.
