Eels are very good eating!! To prepare one, drive a nail through it's head into a board, then cut the skin around the neck and peel it all the way down the eel. Then, gut and remove the head. Slice the eel into 1-2 inch "steaks" and add salt & pepper to taste or flour (or your favorite batter). Cook in butter or oil. great eating try it some time!! 5/5
Thanks, I will make sure to try it the next time I can get a hold of one. I was considering this one but it was a week night and I was pressed for time. I've actually made it a point to try different critters, I want to add this one to the list.
@wildlifeed that sounds great but the skin is delicious btw. i'm Korean and you can give the eels a good scrub with salt, rinse off which get rid of most of the slime and than slather on a hot pepper sauce made with gochujang and grill.
I love smoked eel! you should try to find someone who can smoke em for you. no problem where i live, but i dont know how its like where you come from..
The eels give off a lot of slime but no spines. As soon as you try to unhook them they often spin like mad and knot the line around them to the point it kills them before you can cut it loose. Most people consider them a pest. They do however provide food for game fish like Stripped Bass.
Endangered, no?

I bought some little salted fish at Sportsmans Center. Caught that big catfish with it too.
