It takes years of practice and struggle to achieve those levels of wizardry, which us bedroom musicians can only dream of. For any metal/rock band, a good guitarist is a blessing, due to the genre demands. If the guitarist doesnt hold the charisma, its very likely for band to make it big.

I guess the word "catering" to a non musician grp is somewhat misplaced. Because its music, not a hotel or any service based business in which first have to think of their customers.

I understand your thoughts. Yes it does take years of practice and determination to achieve this level of proficiency on guitar. "Wizardry " is a strange choice of word about guitar playing. Remember every player starts out crappy and as they progress get better. Romeo did as well as every other player including you and I.

Don't hope, just dedicate yourself and make it happen. He is not exactly re-inventing guitar playing. He had to dedicate himself to pratice and you do too, as I said before. I'll bet if you jammed with him, he would probably like your playing as much as you like his. People need to stop thinking that these guys are beyond our ability because of their "famous" names. There are many unknowns JUST AS GOOD as this guy but not known by the public!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Romeo is a true musician more over he's band's front man and behind most of their musical ventures. Its true bands like that are not mainstream, but then mind you whatever small fan base they have its very loyal. i have seen ppl travelling from all corners of world to watch em'

Give a listen to his rendition of the Dutch national anthem or any of his videos of him from his guitartalk dvd. The ones with him playing the Vai Jem or any of his Marcel and friends videos. Vai is a favorite of mine also but no one sounds like Vai. Vai is totally an original just like Santana. No one can copy their sounds that I have heard.

Well, could it be that mostly they are seen as bands that mostly cater to guitar players. Their music is not listened to by the general public. Unlike bands like Pantera, Extreme, Van Halen etc. Bands who are liked by not only guitar players but their music caters to non musicians as well.
