YEah, if I didn't know, I would be frightened. Especially at night, but since I know it's an owl, my fear will quickly turn to excitement. I've been looking all over for these, and couldn't find any. I've even been calling for them too. The only time I've seen one of these was when I was flying my small RC plane at night, and one of them came from a tree and talloned it. It quickly flew into another tree soon after, and I was able to take a picture of it.

WOW nice capture..
I hear them alot communicating in the night over at the ranch i go to in mexico and its creepy !
There like pretty far away and they sound like there mad sometimes.. i used to think the were witches hah

I can tottally understand that. i f i didn't know it was an owl making that call i'd probly be pretty spooked too.
