  • Pause at 1:04 isnt that starbucks now?

  • It was discovered a few years ago that the cuoncil had used the bombing as an excuse to `clear` parts of Canterbury for development in the 50s and took down old undamaged buildings. Shame!

  • they actaully had cars in the 1920s make a difference too when it was the 19th century

  • 2:18 to 2:40 is the area that was most heavily bombed in the 1942 raid: the Cattle Market. If you pause the video at 2:36, you can see the city wall descending - this is where the bike shop opposite Fenwicks is now. If you ask me, such a missed opportunity a few years ago when they built Whitefriars - they should've rebuilt to the old plans - Canterbury could've been a stunning tourist attraction. The design they chose will be obsolete in a few years' time.

  • on second thoughts I think it ends near where blockbusters is now

  • incredible old footage! I wish I could work out where we are between 2:18 and 2:40 as I dont recognise it at all.....can't be where the bus station is now as there is no sign of the city wall

  • amazing archive!

  • oh my god, can not believe how much has changed over the years.

  • Fascinating glimpse!.
