well, it is interesting and after all it is one persons opinion, I have never seen Shute I had heard of him. You could be here forever if we all put in our two bobs worth. Apparently there are a few modern players who cannot play with the old clubs Woods amongst them. The modern swing is too fast? the sweet spot too small for them.
Actually, you have included most of the very best golfer's in history regardless of some of the negative comments made here. The problem with stating your opinion is that the guy around the corner has a loaded shotgun filled with buckshot ready for you! I have met Chi Chi - a wonderful man - but, would not put him on the top twenty along with a couple of others. Otherwise, you have done well here - as long as your list doesn't have the twenty in order of greatness. It's all subjective fun!
Okay, first off, let me say that you have a lot of these golfers in the correct order. However, I must disagree with Tiger being so lowly ranked. He has clearly earned number 2 at least. Tiger probably could not have shot the same scores Nicklaus did with the clubs back then, so Tiger's #2. But Palmer #1? No. He revolutionized golf; he wasn't the best. I'd give him top 10, maybe. (Btw, he's my favorite player.)
Why is Couples in this list? Phil should be. The order is not correct. Chi Chi over Trevino & Watson? Obviously the poster does not know anything about golfers.
You should have stuck to top 10, cuz you got some outliers my friend. No Nick Faldo and you have chi chi rodriquez. How bout johnny miller or ....and if that's the order well you must just be asking for a lot of comments
old tom morris, chi chi, freddy, crenshaw and norman in the top 20 of all time? thank god this is a free country and one cannot be killed for what they say.
The majors count is a pretty good indicator of the "all time greatest" ranking but with one exception - Greg Norman - who should have won a load more. Agree that this is a bizarre list.
@straws188 in the list of the top 20 greatest golfers of all time? please tell me that's a fucking joke. i realise you may be a fan but dude, he'd be lucky to see the top 200
Why is Tiger no 17? Are you using moral rectitute as part of the criteria? Where's Faldo, Kite, Els, Even, O' Connor and Sorenson? You have too many Americans. In the interests of our sponsers I would like to include a young Qatari golfer, anyone will do.
And you can change my choices around a bit, there is not even that much difference between Greg Norman and Tom Watson, these guys could all play on their day, Jack Nicklaus Tiger Woods, Walter Hagen and Ben Hogan could play when it wasn't their day.
Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods tied for #1, Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen tied 3rd, Ben Hogan, Harry Vardon, Tom Watson, Gary Player, Gene Sarazen, Lee Trevino, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Peter Thomson, Nick Faldo, Byron Nelson, Sevriano Ballesteros, Bobby Locke, Raymond Floyd, Phil Mickelson, and ahead of people who have won more majors, Greg Norman. Usually when you come runner up it's because you were outplayed on the day, but seriously, he converts just 3 of his past 2nd places...
If you only count the part of Tom Watson's career starting ten years after he won his eight major championship, he still had better results in the majors than Chi Chi Rodriguez.
that's a pretty sad list.... bobby jones, study the dude a little more and you'll be blown away!!! retired at 28 to be with his family... opposite of tiger woods... leaving his family for the "good life". Bob is the ONLY one of these dudes to win the GRAND SLAM. Research baby, research and then you'll know... even though he didn't golf for the longest time... HE WAS THE BEST IN HIS PRIME!!!!
The Grand slam is questionable to say the least. He won 2 Majors but the other 2 were amateur tourneys. Plus golf wasn't nearly as big back then. The athletes that were talented went to other sports. Golf was also a rich sport so a lot of people couldn't afford to play it. Jack and Tiger hands down.
You've listed some great golfers but, your order needs alot of re-shuffling since you have several greats without - or few - major victories listed ahead of legends with many. You got off the tee, but hit it out of bounds. FORE!!!!!!
I am so happy to see that Phil did not make your cut. As far as a terrible list is concerned, my Golf Handbook The Third Edition written by Vivien Saunders (Author of The Golf Handbook For Women) tends to agree with you absolutely!
This is the most retarded thing I have ever seen. This list could not be anymore out of order. You got one right. JACK. Did you have Chi Chi likke ten or something!!??
i'm assuming rkodavey does not have these in a top to bottom order, but does have some good choices. we all have our personal favorites which can conflict with another's, mine being watson, who must be in the top ten, for sure.
thank goodness ya had watson in there and how in the world could old tom morris beat anyone with that grip id have to see it not sure he needs to be there couple of others maybe not either but get the best golf lessons on the tube at hitmanhawky and thanks
Ok this guy doesn't know golf at all. Where is Billy Casper bud. Ask Arnold Palmer about Casper. You have people on this list that don't belong Fred Couples, Chi Chi, Crenshaw,
Interesting you should mention Casper. Few young players and fans, esp. those who first came to the game because of Tiger, even know who Casper is. (This is the crowd that can't believe anybody knew how to play golf before TW came along, and gives no respect at all to players like Trevino, Watson, etc., let alone guys like Mangrum, Lema, Demaret, Floyd, etc.)
When it comes to the Tiger Invented Golf crowd, it blows their minds when you tell them Casper's career far surpasses any of Tiger's challengers--and he built that career when Palmer, Nicklaus, Player, and Trevino were at their best. Who does Tiger have to beat that can compare with that list? Casper had 51 PGA wins, 68 in all, and won three majors. If Mickelson wins another 14 tournaments, or Vijay wins 17 more, we'll have a rough equivalence--not counting the huge difference in competition.
Fred Couples, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Greg Norman and Ben Crenshaw. I would have to rank Harry Vardon, Bobby Locke, Peter Thompson and Gene Sarazen ahead of those 4.
No Nick Faldo... Gene Sarazen... are you really gonna deny more of the current players on this list... such as oh I dunno Phil Mickelson like reallythis is just ugly... okay lets see you got some great players on the list... but lets see Chi Chi I can't agree with... great player but not top 20... to be honest I think you should scrap this list and re think it... Nick Price should also be given consideration
Poor list mate, needs an awful lot more thought then that. The order's are all over the place and some of the guys on the list shouldn't be there. Also, it's difficult to compare golfers who played the game nearly a hundred years apart because the technology is different, the approach to the game, both mentally and physically, has changed and the course designs are all longer and quicker (greens for example).
chi chi rodriguez? the guy never even won a major. i hope this list is not in order, because tiger woods should be at the beginning of it. and there's no chance arnie is in front of jack, he's barely top 10. trevino, jack, tiger, player, sneed, nelson, hogan, jones, hagen. all better than arnie.
yes, and all the others i've listed have won more majors than palmer. any great player can win 90 tournaments if he plays every weekend like arnie did, but only the greatest have conquered the grand slam, something arnie never did.
Maybe if you could just mature a little and read the description, it says that this is totally based of his opinion. If you want to argue go make your own "Top 20 Golfers Of All Time" video and people would probably then criticize your opinion just like your doing at this moment.
I think you missed Tommy Armour and Bobby Thompson. Bobby Jones should be on the top of any list. Jack and Tiger are great, but Bobby won the Grand Slam while working a real job as a lawyer. He had no time to practice. He was just naturally gifted. Imagine what he could have done if he had worked on his game as hard as Jack or Tiger. Not to mention he was suffering from a neurological disease throughout his career.
where the fuck is billy casper. the man won 51 times on tour, more than half on your horrible list. BTW Tom fucking Morris? yea, he had a lot of competition.
RyrithEu, you opinion is typical, and very obvious. if you cant conclude Sam Snead over any of the 5 TOP PLAYERS you named you have no historical knowledge of the game, he only has the World Record for most Pga wins. like i said, you obviously have no knowledege and it bugs me you would even try to put your little list you made out there. thanks
I don't think this is in any peticular order, he just threw the names out there randomly. However I do believe you forgot 4-time U.S. open champion Willie Anderson.
With 51 PGA tour wins , 3 majors, 9 Senior wins, and 5 Vardon Trophies, Billy Casper could arguably be on everyone's top 20 list. Yet time and time again he is overlooked. And remember he did all this in the era of Palmer, Nicklaus, Player and Trevino, so he faced the stiffest competition!
Yeah. Some dodgy selections, but it's a matter of opinion, I guess. Interesting to see Faldo omitted while Norman is included (Faldo always had his measure). Can't work out why on earth Crenshaw, Chi Chi and Couples are in a top 20 list. To include these, you'd have to throw in Stewart, Singh, Mickelson, Els...etc, etc
And where is Peter Thomson, 5-times Open winner?
No, it's clearly a list based on highly personal criteria. Many worthy inclusions, several absolute shockers!
I played old Tom Morris when I was A kid. All the way round he kept moaning about Tony Blair and saying what a complete idiot he was. I agreed with him and then he said something I will never forget. If only I could remember it. But he was right about Blair and his twaddle talking wife.
Sorry , Jack Nicklaus record speakes for itself , he has to be the greatest golfer of all time. Tiger woods has the chance to take this title away if good enough over the future years.
hmmmmm.... i think tiger shud b further up than tht... will u move him up to top spot when his career is finished and he has broken all the records by miles??? heh... i think u shud do ur research m8... arnold palmer is certainly not better than nicklaus as well
Tiger still has a tough record to beat. Byron Nelson's record for the longest streak of PGA victories in one year. I think it was 11.
Even Tiger Woods has said that year and record are the greatest in the history of golf. I don't see that record being broken in our lifetime.
You might say Nelson's accomplishment isn't as great because of WW2 weakening the competition, but remember that Snead and Hogan still competed that season.
I have a old tape where Davis Love III was in a long drive contest with I thnk Norman and Couples - he still was using a persimmon driver - (he was the last on tour to change - he actually was in a playoff with Tiger using a persimmon driver) - his drive was 320 if I remember correctly - it's on tape if I can get it recorded I will put post it - people don't remember but him and Couples were the big guns not too long ago - I still have a Boom Boom driver the same one couples used.
how in the hell is ben crenshaw better than tiger, jack, arnold, seve, and sam snead?!

Not to mention he was suffering from a neurological disease throughout his career.

it was probably a tough decision between couples and john daly
hawkfan7253 2 years ago
where the fuck is billy casper. the man won 51 times on tour, more than half on your horrible list. BTW Tom fucking Morris? yea, he had a lot of competition.

Can I have some of what the guy who make this list up is having? Must be some good stuff.
There will always be opinions, but one thing is for sure, RyrithEU is a lot closer to reality than the guy who made up this video.
boprn 2 years ago
RyrithEu, you opinion is typical, and very obvious. if you cant conclude Sam Snead over any of the 5 TOP PLAYERS you named you have no historical knowledge of the game, he only has the World Record for most Pga wins. like i said, you obviously have no knowledege and it bugs me you would even try to put your little list you made out there. thanks

chi chi? ben crenshaw? Freddy? what no ky laffoon, ian baker-finch, or Porky Oliver pictures. Or what about Dicky Pride. I think he won a golf .
gsapp59 2 years ago
1. Jack Nicklaus.
2.Bobby Jones.
3.Walter Hagen.
4.Ben Hogan.
5.Tiger Woods.
RyrithEU 2 years ago
Indeed Nick Faldo the best europan golfer ever should be in this list.
RyrithEU 2 years ago
I don't think this was in any particular order though.
RyrithEU 2 years ago
Fred couples are you kidding me wheres Phil?
MrWhiteHoward 2 years ago
I don't think this is in any peticular order, he just threw the names out there randomly. However I do believe you forgot 4-time U.S. open champion Willie Anderson.

Chi Chi Rodriguez ahead of Trevino??
Crack <-- stop smoking it.

Wheres NICK FALDO??
TheHoyster13 2 years ago
Anyone who puts Palmer ahead of Nicklaus needs to have his medication adjusted.
OutlanderWarrior 2 years ago
Plenty room for argument
Ben Crenshaw ahead of 6 TIMES major winner Nick Faldo?
Are you having a laugh or been living on the moon?
gre812u 2 years ago
With 51 PGA tour wins , 3 majors, 9 Senior wins, and 5 Vardon Trophies, Billy Casper could arguably be on everyone's top 20 list. Yet time and time again he is overlooked. And remember he did all this in the era of Palmer, Nicklaus, Player and Trevino, so he faced the stiffest competition!

I think the list is intentionally ridiculous and is meant to generate criticism and argument.
After I saw Chi Chi at number 10 (or whatever), I was waiting to see where Keith Clearwater and Dillard Pruit would show up.

Keith Clearwater and Dillard Pruitt?
I was waiting for Steve Scott and Kevin Stadler after I saw Chi Chi

Wow, the list is so subjective, i can come up with a better list of great golfers in order stone cold drunk. You must not know too much about golf.

billy casper man

Couldn't agree more.
Peter Thompson 5 majors
Nick Faldo 6 majors
Both should be well inside the Top 20

Now I know why it got 2 stars. That was really bad.

But he was right about Blair and his twaddle talking wife.
moneygob 3 years ago
hopefully not in the right order
stuyyaisintheya 3 years ago
There are at least 5 and probably 8 or 10 in this list that clearly don't belong.
moshady8008 3 years ago
definitely the wrong order.
woodybarn66 3 years ago
Ray Floyd, Nick Faldo, and Billy Casper are in my top 20.
confroom1973 3 years ago 3
yes. Nick Faldo. 6 majors. Can't forget him...
matt7140 3 years ago 2
wow u put tiger in 18th spot.........
i guess 6 w0rld junior titles, 3 US junior amateur titles,3 US amateur titles and 14 majors gets you next to ben crenshaw...dipshit
0titleist0 3 years ago
The more I look at this the more room for argument I see. Billy Casper in. Denny Shute has to be out.
matt7140 3 years ago
Francis Ouimet in. Chi Chi Rodriguez out.
matt7140 3 years ago
Sorry , Jack Nicklaus record speakes for itself , he has to be the greatest golfer of all time. Tiger woods has the chance to take this title away if good enough over the future years.
GEOFFR17 3 years ago
hmmmmm.... i think tiger shud b further up than tht... will u move him up to top spot when his career is finished and he has broken all the records by miles??? heh... i think u shud do ur research m8... arnold palmer is certainly not better than nicklaus as well
dyaneir 3 years ago
Tiger still has a tough record to beat. Byron Nelson's record for the longest streak of PGA victories in one year. I think it was 11.
Even Tiger Woods has said that year and record are the greatest in the history of golf. I don't see that record being broken in our lifetime.
You might say Nelson's accomplishment isn't as great because of WW2 weakening the competition, but remember that Snead and Hogan still competed that season.

umm...Chi Chi was good but in my opinion not in the top 20.Maybe top 100,but he wasn't that good.
