  • Always been curious as to where that house actually is. Does anybody know?

  • I would pay $200 for a Monty Python CD set that linked all the outside shots to Google Map as I was watching it.

  • 12 dislikes ?!? go bugger yourselves ... go back to watching commercial television

  • 1:54, although this is a comedy I really understand what his mother said. It is a good lesson.

  • 2:39

  • anyone else thought 'where the hell is this dude taking me?!'

  • I didn't mind the stairs. But then I minded them. And I clicked like!

  • such good acting......

I think i've met this waiter in Paris

  • fucking great.

  • what is the piano music that starts at 1:35

  • Some of us are more delusional than others, but very few of us do not live a lie, and that's what has to be read between the lines.

  • I'm a part time waitress and my colleagues and I love repeating lines of this to one another at work. Ahhh it makes the hospitality industry and the snotty annoying customers almost bearable.

  • @vanillagoat That and spitting in their food.

  • Pause video, resume and keep pressing 9

  • I love how toward the end where he gets angry, you hear him slip a few times with the french accent

  • This is actually a really clever sketch

  • Am I the only one who noticed the man repeating hallo over and over at the start of the video.

  • @HawkWarrior2

    Allo*

  • @HawkWarrior2 it sounds like someone is over the phone and is saying "Allo?", a french word only used during phone calls and enquiring if the person you're calling is still there and can hear you.

  • @Elendor57 That makes sense. Thank you.

  • @HawkWarrior2 The lead waiter was trying to answer the question but the cleaning lady made an antisemitic response. He was trying to get the cameras attention back to him.

  • I must be really stupid cause everyone seems to get it exept for me.

  • @Guimmi there are groups of people who manipulate individuals in choosing a lifestyle and thus convince them that they have rights over the other´s mental, emotional, psychic life.In our world those people are Politicans,mainstream-media,religion,brands, etc ... represented by the french waiter here.

So instead of making up their own mind, people rather follow the"waiter". But the waiter leads u away from ur own path & leaves u standing alone in the end .......

  • @aquarius198 wow thanks :D Really helpful :)

  • @aquarius198

The waiter, fellow survivor of atrocity, offers you a mystery, and in the resolution to that mystery, he promises meaning, a means of healing the trauma.

He leads you away from the sullied world, to a place of cosmic significance. His birthplace. As holy as our own, lost, birthplaces.

He teaches us the essential lesson: the world is beautiful, and we are here to make it beautiful.

But, come on, a waiter? That's hardly the cosmic answer that we're hungry for. Pfft.

    So fuck us.

  • @Guimmi .....The point is that just like politicians, brands, etc.. , our french waiter wants to sell a lie.

( For example: In the end a firm does not want u to have a product for the sake of the product itself but for the money they get, therefore its a lie).

It is their right to try and sell the lie because of the way our system works.

The key is that You must not buy the lie.

Implemented on our world this means:

Be your own saviour, make your own choices,be yourself.

    (ie. no mind controll)

  • @aquarius198 what i don't understand is how can you, just from these 3min of video, take all of that.

  • @Guimmi there is no right or wrong . It´s up to the viewer to interpret.

Like when he says "mind the stairs" or " don´t be shy" maybe that shows how he tells us what to do,what to think or how to act.

And in the end when he shows us his house he seems so sincere and honest.

He tries to convince us of something ( meaning of life?).

But when he realises that we are not interested he shows us that it was a lie by saying Fuck you.

i´m not sure if u can apply to real world, but i think it´s true

  • @aquarius198 i think the end "fuck you" goes to show that the waiter is well aware that he is deluding himself with a meaning that he himself does not really believe in or feel kind of like the people that like parrots paraphrase "you make your own meaning in life" such a saying is incredible solipsist so when confronted (French waiter) he realizes this and his insecurity shows. no one likes there delusions shattered

  • how do you know he's insecure? i know it's an old cottage, but for all you know it could have double glazing

  • Alors c'est ca l'accent francais

  • This makes me laugh every time. Also one of the parts that stuck with me since I was a kid. xD

  • To the few senseless panty wastes that disliked this video.

    Press play.

    Press Pause.

    Press play.

    Press 9 repeatedly.

  • The French accent sounds rather Italian :D

  • @shanenfroida4321

Who is Nicholas Nicholbe? thank you

  • I've been there. I was there when some idiots where filming and trying to there own version of this. I actually yelled "F**K OFF!!" at them. They then had to do another take. Well, it was funniest because it was my best friend, and we were in the countryside with no children, and it was my line, but, ummm I know it's not a very good story, but, well, F**K YOU!!

  • If you have ever read the Sword of Truth series, you probably recognize this as a perfect demonstration of the Unspoken Rule: a rule that would violate itself if spoken. If you understand, great. If not, you might figure it out.

  • Love it!

  • Apparently, every french waiter is named Gaston :)

  • This segment just fascinated me, not because of how funny it was, which it is, but by the way the camera just takes you on that little jaunt through 80s Britain. It's like a time capsule, seeing it from the pedestrians perspective.

  • a beautiful moving scene

  • Don't like....LOVE !!

  • lol, <3 the ending

  • I was half expecting the house to explode.

  • @FlyingFocs HAHA, me too!

  • Volume!!

  • So, I watched a Monty Ponthon skit on youtube... well it's not much of a philosophy, I know... well FUCK YOU! Fuck off! Don't come following me!

  • He was basically saying: F**k It is the meaning of life! Lmao...soo funny and deep!!!!!!

  • I love this scene. I think at different times in this movie they put in their own real meaning of life and this one of them. And then to contrast how nobody is perfect and the guy losses his temper is great. When i first saw this I was blindsided and in hysterical laughter.

  • I will follow him anywhere.

  • wow this is so deep. it's basically saying that even if you have moral ideals, if you are unsuccessful (just a waiter), you will probably be bitter).

Better to do the wrong thing and be successful?

  • *done

  • in my opinion, the best bit of acting down by the pythons

  • so i became a waiter

  • i lovee eric

  • it isn't what you call "in your face" funny, but this is my favourite Monty Python sketch ever.

  • This reminds me of politics or organized religion. Keep following them and follow and follow and follow, you cant have it now of course you gotta follow THEM. And then gets pissed at YOU when you figure out its not very much in the end.

Life was the journey, don't get focused on following the "French Waiter" for the meaning of life. lol

  • @TheAllwalksoflife You know, I never really looked at it that way before. Originally when I saw this and thought about it I saw sincerity behind it, and the beauty of such a simple idea. The meaning of life is what you make it. The world is beautiful, try and have a good time, don't be a dick, and follow your heart, and always look on the bright side of life.

  • This looks like one of my trips :D:D

  • I think philosophers can fuckk off, because Python've already answered The Question

  • @Czeckie lol

  • "well- f*** you!"

  • 2 people didn't mind the stairs

  • so many people think differently

  • this scene really affected me when I first saw it a few years ago. And I take to heart what he said. Live your life your own way.

  • so obvious he's reading cue cards. but damn funny though

  • @zatara92 i doubt that. have you ever seen the travel agent sketch? eric can memorize ridiculously long monologues.

  • F u F off....that is the meaning of life

  • hahahaha :D dette vil svare alle dine spørsmål!

  • @lukadila

    Ka meine du???

  • Al pacino?

  • OK-first time I saw this as a kid...I laughed so hard my head hurt for two hours. 'Welll......ffeck yooo.."

  • In Paris : "Come aune, follo mi, donte bi chaie..."

    (ChrisOBW I love you :D)

  • yeah i guess you are probably right, family guy is a hell of a lot funnier than this and you dont have to make an effort to laugh at it. if your not a posh limey i guess monty python isn't your cup of tea (pun intended).

  • Comment removed

  • i dont get it. i think english humor is as bad as french manners.

  • @booblebumthumb stick to cartoons. Python is way out of your reach.

  • this is true

you can be a lawyer, or a waiter a doctor or a homeless

in wont matter we all die, and we wont bring nothing with us just our soul

all the famous people in the world, are normal just like me and you

    everyone is equal

  • @jimmyjohnson691 Which is why they have the long long introductory bit with him going through the streets - trying to indicate that the true meaning of life can be found in any bystander on the ordinary streets. This is added to when you recall that the original film audience would have walked out onto very similar streets when the film was over.

  • The meaning of life...one of the greatest film EVER!! :-)

  • best build up to a punch line i've seen in a while

  • Don't come following me!

  • i love him XD hahahaha

  • i love it how he just goes "well ... fuck you!" lol

  • I agree with the film's editor. This should have been how it ended.

  • soo funny

  • @jackobcooper I guess you don't know any French nor any Italian. Gaston is a French name you fuck tard.

  • ok you're right, I am confused with Gaston Mazzacane, the Argentinian F1 driver.

  • Gaston = french name. Retard.

    I am italian

  • uh i just saw your other message below. Nvm.

  • One of the most quoted things from the movie I use. "Nearly there now" not too many people pick up on it.

  • They should show him crossing The English/La Manche Channel.

This is my favourite scene from that movie. One of the greatest Monty Python's classics.

  • fuck

  • Well it's not much of a philosophy I know... but well.... FUCK YOU!

  • Why does this remind me of Scarface???

  • I kinda feel this way some times

  • I really kinda think this is the meaning of life

  • ???

  • Pure genius.

"I think this will help explain."

His looking into the camera after he says "so I became a waiter", looks down, and THEN looks up...is pure genius.

  • This is the prototype for Alex Jones

    Glenn Beck Michael Moore etc

  • The thing is its funny on one level but so clever on another.

  • HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

  • One of Python's best bits! Classic! ...well at least I think it is....so, F--- You!

  • Hahahaha, great comment!

  • wonderful!

  • I noticed that it's pretty beneficial to watch this at least once a day.

  • Good stuff.

  • one of my favourites.

  • lol :D love it

  • lol That was great..
