  • Those were rules imposed on Germany by the allies, specifically the US and UK after WWII. Swastikas vill now be verboten in your country because we's say so! And of course because of a lot of whining and snivelling by,you guessed it,the Jews.Ironic how in Russia, where Stalin massacred 10 times the amount of people that Hitler did, most of them his own,it's still ok to display the "red star" and statues of that cocksucker.Go figure. But since Russia doesn't take orders from the US,Jews can eat shit

  • This is such a beautiful machine when it's not going to war.

  • The Bf 109 sounds badass!!

  • Epic Old Man

  • It sounds like a lawnmower.

  • @Vlomer You sound like you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @Vlomer a lawnmover with 1300 HP :)

  • @dolenzia78 Awesome.

  • The spitfire is better.

  • @rchrdbgi8 That is why the top WW2 aces of the war are German 109 pilots?

  • @rchrdbgi8 no....it's not.

  • Look at that engine... that is what you can call a well engineered machine!

  • holy shit i could die happily to the sound of that flying over my head.

  • I love to see these old war birds out of the museam and back in the air where they belong.

  • It is against the law in Germany to display the Swastika.

  • dunno but the EURO is ripping europe apart, including Germany.

  • ME109 & the Spitfire

two legends of WWII from start to finish!

  • Nice !

  • Beautiful !

  • 2:08 - 2:20 for accurate sound of engine

  • Love the sound of those engines!

  • I almost got hypnotized at 1:28

  • Ich würde ein Bein, eine Hand oder eine Niere geben, dürfte ich das Ding einmal fliegen.....

  • Re: Weirdwesterner - These aircraft were designed to be thrown all over the sky - if their pilots didn't throw them all over the sky then they very quickly became battle casualties! Restoration to flying condition by definition must include throwing them all over the sky. I was borne in 1952 - 30 years too late!

  • @billyconnearly

Most wartime pilots caught doing low-level aerobatics would have been grounded. There's a reason the flight training and manuals advise not to do that with so little margin for recovery. I remember a wartime picture of a P-38 spattered all over the airfield after a low level roll, and it was an aircraft known to rapidly lose altitude during rolling. I've seen an older video of this same Me109 where the pilot stalled and almost lost it.

  • It looks like a "Friedrich". Personally I don't care there is no swastika; it adds nothing to the performance of the aeroplane and the Americans are painting all kinds of stuff over the aeoplanes all the time so what's the big deal? The markings and paint job look pretty good anyway. The 109 was a significant part of the party and it's just nice to see one still flying.

  • @FrancoHitlini Close! Notice the inlets on the cowling at 1:01? Those appeared on the early G series. We Have an early Gustav here. Cheers

  • @CrotalusKid Marseille was killed in an early G; sad loss for the Luftwaffe

  • @FrancoHitlini Agreed. His unconventional attitude towards military life surely made a name for him. Nearly all leading aces say he was the best shot in the Luftwaffe. He certainly will be remembered for some time to come! I do admire his accomplishments.

  • @CrotalusKid Yup! A natural fighter pilot! A rebel but I think many of the top aces were non-comformists. The way he died was cruel though; I know that many pilots were unkeen towards the early Gustavs espescially after the loss of Marseille.

  • Gee, if Russia was not a Communist nation why did they refer to themselves that or for that matter why did they follow Marx ect.. ? You ARE correct about the swastika how ever. It's banned everywhere in Europe. You can't even wear it on clothing !!

  • 2:07 - 2:20

    Verdammte Scheiße!!!!!

  • Would pay the guy with the sun glasses to say "I'll be back."

  • Sounds great! Where was this video taken?

  • i saw this plane live :D it was awesome :D

  • Just beautiful, thanks for sharing.

  • It sounds so fucking sweet :3

  • Poetry in motion, and the engine sings an aria. This vid is beautiful, the plane is gorgeous. Thank you for keeping such a magnificent piece of history alive.

  • They for some reason forgot to put the Swastika on the rudder... I'm quite sure it had one back in the day. I'm also sure that the old communist planes of today have all the communist insignia pianted on them. Political correctness maybe?

  • @CFvS1331 It's in Germany. And in Germany the swastika is banned as an antidemocratic symbol (to prevent abuse). You aren't allowed to show it but in literature (Books and films) and arts. That's also the reason why so many ww2 video games are banned here :(

  • @MrRammsteinKicksAss Ahh. Soory didn't knew it was in Germany. I'm from DK and know you have some strange laws down there. Danke für info.

  • the germans hate any nazi shit

  • @ELViejito100

As a german i think for historical use it would be ok, like on this plane.

  • @CFvS1331 in germany its forbidden to wear the swastika

  • @CFvS1331 swatstikka is illegal in germany

  • @rolfen Maybe so,but it is ruin a part of the history by cutting the swastikka on this planes... Dont think people would see the pilot at an airshow as a nazi just because he flew the BF109 with a swastikka on the rudder... WW2 is the biggest historical "event up to date".. Hate the fact that they cut the swastikka. its a part of the history! @CFvS1331 Couldnt be more agree with you on this!

  • @CFvS1331 not all German planes had the Swastikas on them, in fact you'd be surprised at how many German pilots refused to recognize the Swastika as the national symbol

  • @CFvS1331 The Swastika is illegal in Germany. It is forbidden to show it, and in case you do, it's a criminal act, which will be punished.

  • @CFvS1331 The display of the Swastika, as well as all Nazi and Communist party symbols is illegal in Germany.

  • @SFCPointer what about the simple basic military and mechanized Baltic cross....

  • @CFvS1331 Probably yes, it works only one way unfortunately..

  • @CFvS1331 It's a forbidden insignia in Germany. There are some exhibition-models of the plane which indeed have a swastika on them but for your private model to have one is legally not allowed here. Also, if you love the machine, why would you care. If it helps you, just pretend that it is an airplane of the swiss air force, which also received 14 Bf-109 G in 1944 and did not equip them with swastikas, because it is not their logo and they hate our guts ;)

  • @CFvS1331 If it is flown in Germany I believe it is illegal to display the swastika, anywhere else no problem.

  • @CFvS1331 No it´s just illegal to put the swastika on in germany. So it´s not just political law. They don´t need to be retouched out of photos, but it´s so far not been used on historical planes. Also a group of the JG-53 had no Swastikas on their plane in protest in 1940-1941. Their Commander in trouble for marrying a woman of jewish ancestry, which caused Goering to blow a gasket. Stupid fat fuck!

  • @CFvS1331 The swastika is illegal in Germany. Hence it not on the plane.

  • @CFvS1331 You got it.

  • @CFvS1331 swastikas are illegal in Germany.

  • @CFvS1331 so true

  • @CFvS1331 in germany its forbidden by law to put the swastika on everything... nothing to do with political correctness, it would be a crime

  • @CFvS1331 It's against the law in Germany to display a swastika, in a political sense it is understandable, the sad part is that it applies to historical items and events as well.

  • sounds like the movies

  • I am learning more all of the time. It is always problematic to cool a radial engine when it is fully enclosed especially while on the tarmac or on a flight deck. Most American planes with radials be they fighters or bombers had moveable cowl flaps for that purpose, but trust BMW to solve the problem in the production FW190 with an engineered solution. I presume the addition of the geared cooling fan offset the weight transfer of moving the cockpit rearward.

  • @Mullay2

Many radial engines, including the BMW, also have air baffles to direct the airflow through the engine to the rear cylinders for cooling. Read more on NACA cowling research that improved speed and efficiency for radial engined aircraft in the US. I believe Kurt Tank's Fw190 cowl attempted to emulate the benefits of this research, though he was not fully successful.

  • @FiveCentsPlease I am going to read up on the cowling research you cited. I am enjoying our conversation and learning more all the time. It is fun to talk with a fellow warbirds enthusiast like yourself

  • I would have loved to have shot one of those down ...

  • I stand corrected. The Messerchmitt ME-109 did use a Daimler Benz DB-605 inverted V-12 but unlike my friend's claims they indeed were not diesel engines. They were dual ignition gas engines with twin spark plugs and dual Bosch Magnetos. And the FW 190 used a 14 cylinder BMW radial engine which received cooling air through a ducted hole in the oversized prop spinner. I guess the next time I post something, I had better know what I am talking about FIRST!

  • @Mullay2

Only the prototype Fw190 had the oversized spinner. Overheating was such a problem that it led the test pilot to comment that it was like sitting with his feet in a fireplace. The cockpit was moved rearward and the production Fw190s had a geared cooling fan behind the propeller (geared to rotate at 3x propeller speed) for forced-air cooling.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mullay2 Focke Wulf BF109? You mean the FW190. And Diesel for it and the 109? Don't think so.

  • ja ja ja ja ja ja ja aja ja :D

  • I notice a regular german flag replaced the swastika on the tail.

  • @FantasticBob7000 Germany has since banned all traces of the Nazi party, making it illegal to display. You can see the Swastika on 109's owned by other countries though. Such a beautiful bird!

  • @jcnme27 It's a damned silly overreaction if you ask me.

  • @FantasticBob7000 To us it might be but Germany wishes the whole Nazi and Hitler thing never happened. Towards the end of the war, Nazis and regular German military and civilians began to destroy, burn, or bury anything Nazi affiliated.

  • to bad they cant have swastikas on their planes

  • Forgive my bluntness, but anyone who thinks this fighter to be better than the Spitfire has only to look at the spec. sheets for each fighter as well as the kill ratio. Just because it's fucking German, does not make it a better machine. It was a small, fragile, cramped, obsolete 2nd class fighter plane.

  • @acfinney1 Really good landing though.

  • @acfinney1 The 109 actually was faster when the British tested it with good fuel, so it isn't entirely true to say that it was worse in all ways.

  • @Me0109G Yes i agree , the Germans had adatives in their fuel , The Allies had the good stuff!

  • @acfinney1 On paper the Spitfire could out manuver any fighter during WWII. The combination of machine guns and cannons made the 109 deadlier. But the bottom line comes down to the skill of the pilot. The landing gear on the 109 was very sub par and was often damaged on medium to hard handlings and made take offs and landings difficult. I agree, one of the best fighters of WWII but not "the" best.

  • @jcnme27 the 109 was the most successful fighter of the war and in history. It was used longer, had more variants, and shot down more enemy planes than any other fighter.

  • @acfinney1 - disagree

Relative to their times in production the Bf109 and the Spitfire were roughly equal.

Compared to the Battle of Britain era MkII Spits the Bf109 E had equal maneuverability, superior negative-G dive capability and superior 20mm armament.

Likewise, the Bf109 F was the equal of contemporary MkV, as the G was to the Mk IX

It wasn't until the later (mid '43) Griffon-powered variants that the Spit showed a distinct edge. By then the point-defense fighter concept was dead.

  • It think, this plane is better than British Spitfire, it looks better and sound is better too. The voice of turbine is a music for me. Bf 109G must fight on enemy area. British fought in his home this situation given British a handicap.

    Sorry for my bad English.

  • @lukasvip7 I was just going to say this is a G6 and yes, this plane could take on nearly any spitfire and out perform it depending on the pilot (I think Hartman mostly flew the G6)

Germany lost the "Battle of Britain" because Hitler decided it was time to attack the Soviet Union, had he kept pressing Germany would have won that battle.

  • @mrceebees14

Def NOTa G6 mate. If this plane once was a G6 they didnt restore it properly, since it should have prominent bulges in the nose (to house the larger 13mm guns).

  • @notsureyou Please put a search into wikipedia for this aircraft, the pic of this very plane is on the right side.

G6 had either 1 20mm mounted in the nose (1:59 shows clearly the 20mm cannon) or an mg 17 machine gun. The last combination later one was 1 20mm cannon and 2 mg17's. The G6 had a smaller rudder and a better roll rate than the E or F series fighters. It could climb better and could make excellent snap rudder kills.

  • @mrceebees14

the g2 also had the 20mm canon. The G6 however had 13mm in place of the 7.9mm mg. These had bigger breaches that required the bulge effect. This plane does not have the bulges, so the mg's in the cowling would have to be the 7.9mm, so it cant be a G6. As far as I know all the 109's up until the "tall tail" had the same tail and rudder. and the E series with the clipped wings should have a better roll rate.

  • @notsureyou

the general concensus about "red 7" is that after its conversion from the spanish 109 is that its a G4

  • @mrceebees14 With respect the later marks of Spitfire ate the G's for breakfast and asked for more. Hitler launched the attack on Russia in 1941 after it was realised that the BoB was lost and Germany had run out of time to get an invasion force across the channel before the English could rearm and repair. The BoB was effectively won in Sept 1940 (despite attacks by the Luftwaffe continuing into Oct 1940) due in part to bad leadership & planning via poor inteligence, Germany would not have won

  • @Ecthaelyon You are talking about 1945 when the Germans had more planes than pilots and the pilots they had were rushed through flight school and easy prey.

  • @lukasvip7 I have to disagree.... Spitfire has lines that surpass the 109, the engine sounds... Well... All WW2 aircraft sound just superb dont they? :) The Gustav (108G) wasnt present over the UK in the Battle of Britain, mostly used in the defence of Germany over German territory and the Russian front if I am correct so really there is no advantage for the English.

  • @Ecthaelyon

For me the spitfire has the look of elegance, as you point out fine lines.

To me the 109 looks like a killer, I used to like the spit when I was younger, but now I love the 109, and its pretty much all i "fly" in IL2

  • Very Nice, I'll land my RC model the same way, main wheels and Tail for a 3 pointer.

  • Thank u , for preserving that Awesome Birds.....

    Das koenig von Luftwaffe !!!

  • What is that odd flap at the wingroot? When it's split up and down is it a speed brake?

  • @bgm1958

No its the oil cooler system.

  • @bgm1958

The coolant radiator flaps. The oil cooler is under the motor. Flaps can be controlled automatically or manually by the pilot.

  • ....suuuuuupper1, tolle lvorführung und außerordentlich gute landung!!gutes engagement.

  • Original Me 109 engine was a DB601 inverted vee-12 engine while the Merlin was right side up v12. Me109 also had fuel injection and turbo charging for higher power at altitude. The power of those engines on the small airframe/ spindly narrow track undercarriage made handling on the ground tricky and dangerous and led to many losses by accident rather than enemy action, this comes over well in this video

  • @jgdooley2003 and yet more were lost in takeoff and landing because of there landing gear were so close together then in actual combat...

  • 0:24

Didn't know Arnold Schwarzenegger was an aviation mechanic.

  • there is nothing like the merlin sound

  • @MegaGuitar87

There's no Merlin in this video.

  • @FiveCentsPlease i know there isnt im just saying the merlin sound better.

  • @MegaGuitar87 I saw a Merlin engined 109 at Duxford last year - sounded awesome but not original unfortuntely. It was a Spanish built Bouchon (I think that's right) this engine sounds raw and mean!

  • now imagine multiple 109's as at 2:07 and it would be a scary sight/sound of the time

  • @cs512tr

Check out this clip of 2 109s: Check out this clip on youtube: z71gYnaGyb8

There at 1:20 you get that what you are referring to to a degree.

  • やっぱ飛行音がかっこいい!!

  • Who let the Germans in the workshop?

  • I'm curious aren't there supposed to be cowl bulges for the 13mm gun breeches on the G model? But that would make this an F model which, aparently, it is not. Maybe I just can't see them in the video. I very much enjoy watching it and thanks for posting.

  • @jtflyer

I think its because its been done as a an early g model (a g4 I think) cowl bulges didnt come in till the g6. could be wrong though

  • @jtflyer This is a G model that was restored without the 13mm guns.

  • @warhawk40 I see. I imagine the original cowl was modified to have the budges removed. I find that interesting rather than maintaining the cowl as original with no guns or with faux guns if necessary. Just curious about one my favorite aircraft.

  • We have a howler scream to this,,,,,,AKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAK

  • that whistle

    WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-OOOOOOOOOOOOOO

dats what im talkin bout niggaz!

  • i think the 109f series was the last pure 109 fighter. the rest of them had to take into account interceptor needs.

  • Great flying. I don't understand the need to throw these aircraft all over the sky like some professional pilots. Speaking as a member of a younger generation it is simply fantastic to see these aircraft in the air, I'm not here to watch the pilot. A gentle roll taken carefully and safely is great but if I want to see intense aerobatics I'd go and see the Blue Angels or the Red Arrows. Too many aircraft of this period are lost because a fool wants to perform a roll or loop at low altitude.

  • @wierdwesterner That was a great comment. So many irreplaceable crafts (and lives) lost to meaninglessly risky stunts that nobody really wants to see.

  • @wierdwesterner well said...never thought of it like that

  • @wierdwesterner Agreed, but you're telling me that you wouldn't have a little fun in the air if you were the pilot?

  • @wierdwesterner not to mention that these planes are VERY OLD...extra care with these are always needed

  • is this the F or G variant? what's the diff between the both, looks almost the same

  • @peetrickjojo afaik this is a G Version. The main diff is the Engine. G had more power. The Cockpit-Window is diffrent too and the G has a bigger air entrance on the bottom of the nose.

  • I think that Bf-109 would had been a still better fighter plane with more wing area, better visibility to the pilot and belt feed cannons in the guns. But how to do it without lose time in factories ? May be if were tried to make it with bigger wing area through wider wing chord, keeping the same wingspan, and to make longer its combat radius, another fuel tankin the cell, this behind the cockpit as was done in american P-51. Who knows...

  • Is this the F or G variant?

  • I love how the supercharger sounds!! great!! chuck norris extreme plane!

  • There's something about the sound of a Me109's that give's me goose bumps. No other engine sounds like it. It is like seeing all those grainy black and white pictures suddenly come alive and one is back in those dark years. That engine does give me goose bumps and I had never heard one before.

  • there's some ringing metallic sound apart from the engine growl - gearbox? Supercharger?

  • @SupernalOne

Supercharger. It's quite loud on the DB engines.

  • @SupernalOne loose fuckin spanner, mechanic left inside

  • It's amazing to see WWII warplanes in old WWII B&W footage and then see them in real modern color camera footage. It just goes to show you that the country music song "In Color" is true. When they are in B&W, it doesn't seem real until you have seen it in color.

  • "Dreizehnhundeert PS können wir fahren"... Arschlecken Spitfire!

That is beneath the FW 190, the greatest plane on the world...

  • "Dreizehnhundeert PS können wir fahren"... Arschlecken Spitfire!

That is beneath the the FW 190, the greatest plane on the world...

  • "Dreizehnhundeert PS können wir fahren"... Arschlecken Spitfire!

  • @Rokka76 : Proll

  • i wish the guy would of said "hasta la vista...baby"

  • The engine looks like new, Beautyfull!

  • 2:07...that sound!!!!!

  • Indianer!!...

  • The 12 people who disliked this video must have been Spitfire fans.

  • Great video! Glad to see an 109 flying again! Keep the good work!

  • what country is this in?

  • @jpmeyer95 : This was in Germany -> Airfield Degerfeld

At this time the EADS is the owener from the "rote 7".

  • Germans created great aircraft and great beer, what else can a man ask for??? lol

  • one of the best airplanes of ww 2 hands down.

  • Can't stop buying BF109 models

  • @wilson3a10 i have all off them...

  • @SMoonlightBlue

I like the G-10 the most

  • @wilson3a10 I Like all 109s

  • lol, me tooo....

  • @wilson3a10 The die-cast Gemini Aces 109G's are great, especially the Marseille model- if you can get hold of one.

  • awesome video, awesom sound, thank you.

  • This one sounds like it has an original engine, instead of a rolls Royce Merlin

  • PHEEW!!.

  • Would love to hear and watch this plane fly by in person. What a beautiful design (Save for the landing gear!)

  • @CrnaStrela030 long time to reply, but all you need to do is see where the exhausts are, no taking the covers off

  • this (for me) is a very beautiful and clean fighter. thin minimal-drag wings, powerful engine, reasonable performance at all but the highest altitudes, devastating armament (2X 13mm MG131 nose mounted and a 15/20mm MG151 or 30mm MK108 firing thru the hub)... beautiful.

  • Es war wie Musik! Sehr schoen! Es gefaehlt mir sehr deutsch zu horen!

  • Thats magic!

  • Considering that flying saucers can be powered by abundant electricity in the atmosphere, why concentrate on planes that carry explosive fuels, and ultimately crash and explode? So, the bloodlines that initiated the war are still in power. We are like seagulls following fishing boats waiting for fish scraps to be hurled overboard. WW2 lacked enough btu's to maintain 1 granule on the Suns' surface.

  • Sentiments aside, if you read David Ickes "Biggest Secret" book, you would learn that the purpose of the WW2 theatre was not to win but to exterminate. Arms dealers made billions during the campaign. Anyway, if there are any Haunebu flying saucers still in operation, why don't we see vids of them flying at 40 000 mph. in upper atmosphere? Certainly WW2 was not restricted to air battles. Was there not fighting in local space as well?

  • DER SOUND!!!

Ich hät mit meim Wedel fast die Tastatur kaputt gemacht

  • Supercharger whine..... such a sweet sound.

  • SOUNDS SO GREAT!

  • It is sinister looking, but give me a 190 any day.

  • pride of the luftwaffe

  • P-51 Mustang...Cadillac of the sky...no German answer and no Japanese answer...Our American plane was your answer...And it won the War...

  • @Lovetogolf2005 So did the Sherman and everyone knew it was an inferior design to it's German and Russian contemporaries. The Germans had the best planes, the Allies had the numbers. Any country that could hold out for such a long time with the lack of raw materials Germany faced is a truly skilled enemy.

The Allies had the factories back home, had lots of good fuel, raw materials and they also had the numbers. And that won the war, not the P-51.

  • @Lovetogolf2005 p-51 was a great aircraft once it was fitted with the british merlin engine. once that happend it was truely awsome.

  • @Lovetogolf2005 the mustang didn't do shit, you had so many great planes that deserve attention more than the mustang, and you give it away on that gay fighter

the Bf109 and the Zero fought the war alone, and did so much more than your mass produced fighters, and just like the other guy said, it's not the P-51, but the numbers that won you the war... not to mention that you had powerful allies

and don't know why, but you never tell how many of your "cadillacs" and other planes were shot down :P

  • @fidan2fast Your idiotic post is so full of stupid statements I don't even know where to start.

  • @Salguine you can start by explaining why is it idiotic, because you love the mustang?

I'm talking about the planes fighting the war, the mustang may be better than any other plane of it's time, but it didn't do much in the war compared to other planes

and if we talk about the Bf109, it did what you did with at least five planes... period... you can say what you want but that is a fact

and why not talk about the F6F, the P39, the Corsair, the P-47 and other planes, not to mention bombers?

  • @Lovetogolf2005 haha, america hasn't won a war yet :) they arrive at the end so they can see what winners look like :)

  • Absolute freakin plane...
