1) THIS IS NOT THE FULL FIGHT even though the title says so. The full fight was ended in the third round. This video is 1 minute 53 seconds long. Do the math.
2) The fight went to the score cards due to doctor stoppage.
It was disappointing that the fight was stopped due to the eye injury, but... I still think it was the best fight of the night.
@madatgravity1984 No. In the case of a doctor stoppage, the cause determines the outcome. In this case (as far as I know), the stoppage was caused by an unintentional eye poke (more a scratch across the eye with the edge of the glove). Bowling wanted to continue, but he couldn't open his eye. The doctor stopped the fight. The poke was completely unintentional, so the rules state the bout had be determined by the scorecards. All three judges saw it 29-28 Bowling (2 rounds to 1).
@USMotM I was just wondering if it depended on the promotion. Im thinkin of the recent UFC fight between Bonnar and Sozynski (or however u spell his name). The fight was stopped due to a cut on Bonnar's head which was caused by and inadvertant headbutt. They awarded the win to Sozynski via TKO. Same with the Silva Cote fight. Silva won via TKO win Cote blew his knee out when he trod awkwardly.
@madatgravity1984 The Bonnar decision was incorrect. If you listen to the ref at the end (and Joe Rogan commenting), he is asked "Did he get cut by a head?" and the ref says "Hand." The ref is then asked, "Is it a headbutt or a punch?" and the ref says, "Not a headbutt, sir, no." Had it been ruled a headbutt by the ref, it would have been either a No Contest or gone to the scorecards. :(
You're correct, though - the rules do differ slightly by state (or country) as set by the athletic comm.
..........really........?

@USMotM If it goes to doctor stoppage doesn't the fighter usually forfeit the fight?

@USMotM Ah, ok. Was just wondering. I know some fighters appeal to have the decisions ruled as no contests after the fight.

@odin422 No he didn't. He was telling the ref "I can keep going!" he didn't give up, the doctor stopped it, There's NOTHING he can do about that.
