  • Kick at 1:36 is crazy.

  • all these combos shogun is throwing.. why wasn't he seemed to be using them in the fights against jon jones, forrest griffin and dan henderson?

  • Fedor was bad ass but lost it, Monson??? That guy is not even in the same box JDS with 1 arm would ko his ass out

  • anyone know what they weighted here?

  • @7117Rocker I believe Rua is around 225-230 and Santos is 245.

  • Keyboard warriors....

  • Check the leg kick!

  • JDS vs Overeem would be great but first, Overeem must get past Brock in a very convincing fashion. A KO won't hurt. Cain, JDS, and Alistair, these are the real kings in the HW division, maybe add Shane Carwin in the mix if he puts in better cardio and more variation other than his "one punch" wonder.

  • JDS landed more punches

    Shogun landed more kicks

    hell of a spar

    WAR SHOGUN AND WAR CIGANO

  • sexy boy

  • God damn..

  • JDS doesn't seem to check kicks very well, but his boxing is good enough to overwhelm anyone who isn't a high level boxer or kickboxer (Crocop doesn't count because his striking is VERY rusty compared to what it was back in his K-1 days). Let's not forget JDS has huge power, and it doesn't take very much for him to put someone in the hospital. I hope he will beat Cain senseless this Saturday.

  • @HugoTheSavant junior would take "prime" cro cop easily in a stand up fight tbh.

  • @imgonnadrinkcoke

No offense, but that is probably one of the dumbest things I have ever read. JDS is really good standing up, but he has obvious holes in his striking, considering how Shogun managed to land kicks all day. Crocop was a MUCH harder kicker, and it's very obvious that his striking was watered down heavily by the time he was competing in UFC. He was a much better wrestler, but sacrificed his standup greatly for it. Crocop took out some elite guys in K-1.. JDS could not.

  • @HugoTheSavant

So to conclude, learn a bit more about striking, look at how JDS' striking is compared to elite strikers in their prime (such as those competing in K-1, It's Showtime or WMC) and then realize that you should punch yourself in the face for being so ignorant. It's really shameful when someone who most likely does not keep up with the striking scene and only pays attention to MMA begins to compare an MMA striker to a high level kickboxer in his prime. I pity your ignorance.

  • @HugoTheSavant what do u mean could not? cro cops striking got exposed when he decent competition... guys who know how to block kicks and pressure him so he cant just throw them whenever he feels like it. when he came to the ufc he JUST won the pride GP so u cant say his striking was watered down.

  • @imgonnadrinkcoke

You're a moron. He won Pride having trained for MMA, but his striking was already weakening because he had concentrated so heavily on other areas of fighting, especially wrestling and submission defense. Even stupider of you is to comment on his striking without paying attention to his activity as a kickboxer: he last competed in K-1 in 2002 (not including the Bob Sapp fight; you don't have to train to beat him), and he entered UFC in 2007.. FIVE YEARS LATER.

    You're an idiot.

  • @HugoTheSavant

Do you have any idea how insanely difficult it is for someone to keep their striking at K-1 level while having to learn TONS OF NEW SHIT? Unlike Overeem, who was a mixed martial artists before entering kickboxing, Crocop was a kickboxer from the start, and he had to learn grappling from the bottom up. To be competent in MMA and not be submitted easily, one would have to be well rounded; guys like Reem had time to develop their grappling, unlike Crocop who later had to focus on it.

  • @HugoTheSavant 2006 cro cop wins open weight grand prix. 2007 he gets knocked out by gabriel gonzaga in the ufc.

Also ur overrating his striking a lot. wasnt he like 15-9 in k1?

  • @imgonnadrinkcoke

Him winning Pride does not mean his striking was at its best, I have no clue why you keep bringing up "he did this in MMA, that in MMA, so his striking wasn't watered down" bs. Clearly you did not read anything I wrote earlier, including how he had to focus very heavily on grappling in order to do better in MMA, and how he neglected his striking for that.

In K-1 he competed at the highest level, amassed a record of 16-7 (70% win rate), and beat some of the top guys.

  • @HugoTheSavant

You really need to reconsider what you're going to say, especially how little relevance someone's success in MMA has to how good of a striker one is. To be at your best in something, you have to train it hardcore. Guys who began as MMA fighters have the advantage of being able to work on various skillsets at once, giving them the opportunity to develop themselves in mutliple ways until they find something to specialize in. Crocop grappled late; his kickboxing career ended in 2002

  • @HugoTheSavant Im bringing up mma because u said cro cop (a mixed martial artist) is a better striker than jds (a mixed martial artist). cro cop mixes is up more while jds likes to box and throw knees.. but jds has much more effective, powerful, and explosive striking.

and who did he fight in his k1 career that was any good other than an old peter aerts?

    bob sap?

  • @imgonnadrinkcoke

Yes, and you kept trying to bring up Crocop's presence and performance in the UFC - which was WAY AFTER he stopped concentrating so hard on his kickboxing and began to focus heavily on grappling - as reasoning that he would be outstriked by JDS, which is absolutely stupid.

Old Aerts? What the fuck are you on? Back then, Aerts was only 31 - 32 at best, proof that you don't know what the fuck you are talking about!! He also defeated LeBanner KO'd Bernardo and destroyed Bojansky

  • @HugoTheSavant

He also won against Mark Hunt (super-close fight), landing a major point-scoring headkick that only the Super Samoan could've survived. Crocop also made it to the WGP final against Ernesto Hoost, which is a very big accomplishment in itself. Let's not forget that only 1 year after Crocop stopped competing in kickboxing (still sharp, not like 5 years later in UFC and rusty), he knocked out Vovchanchyn (61-2 kickboxing) in an MMA match.

You don't know shit.. why are you arguing?

  • @HugoTheSavant Crocop is one of the most overrated strikers. You also act like he just straight up stops training kickboxing when he went into mma. Watch some of his old interviews he says he spends a lot of time practicing his kicks still.

So you are saying that Cro cop when he was in k1 would beat jds striking? jds would back up cro cop and pick him apart. cro cop showed that he is weak when pressured.

also cro cop has no chin. (randleman) 2004.

  • @imgonnadrinkcoke

Look at what you resort to when I shut down EVERYTHING you have said. You made yourself look especially ignorant (and stupid) with the "old Aerts" comment which took away all credibility you might've ever had because you obviously DON'T KNOW WTF YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!

He never abandoned his striking, but he stopped focusing on it because he had to improve on grappling A LOT. You said JDS would outstrike prime CC, but CC's striking prime was in K-1 back when he focused on it..

  • @HugoTheSavant

For you to say that Crocop's peak standup was when he was in MMA is absolutely retarded. He maintained his kickboxing at top level when he was competing in K-1. He was strictly standup before 2003, and he did very well with it. You are completely stupid for comparing MMA Crocop who focused A LOT of his time on grappling because he had no choice or he'd get takendown or submitted to K-1 Crocop (striking peak).

Anyone reading this convo would see how much of an idiot you are!

  • @HugoTheSavant

To conclude yet again, you are very ignorant and never know what the hell you are talking about. Training for MMA fights and K-1 fights require different levels of focus, and for someone who transitioned to MMA but ONLY knew how to kickbox, he had to sacrifice much kickboxing time to learn grappling instead. By the time Crocop because a decent wrestler/submission fighter, his striking was no longer the same, especially to what it once was when he ONLY focused on it.

    Common sense?

  • @HugoTheSavant

I seem to be repeating myself, but you lack the common sense to comprehend anything beyond the first three words of a sentence. I am almost wasting my time arguing with someone as pathetically stupid as you.

JDS began as an MMA fighter and developed various areas of fighting (standup, clinch, ground) during his career. He never had to focus a huge amount of time on one area because he was too lacking in another, unlike Crocop who had no clue how to grapple when he entered MMA.

  • @HugoTheSavant

P.S. - someone's chin has nothing to do with how good of a striker someone is. Dan Henderson has one of the best - if NOT the best - chins MMA has ever seen. Does that make him any better or any worse of a striker? No, it just means he can take a lot of cranial punishment and still keep going. Even a Neanderthal could take a lot of punishment, but that has no influence on skill whatsoever.

Seriously, stop talking out of your ass! You lack common sense and relevance in argument.

  • @HugoTheSavant Dude you know your replying your comments to yourself right and not me? ..and chins do matter for striking. If you cant take a shot.. gl.

Youre just a mad cro cop fan and you cant admit to yourself that HE WAS OVERRATED AND LOST TO A LOT OF SCRUBS IN K1.

  • @imgonnadrinkcoke

Good chins are valuable but have no influence on skill, and having a mediocre or poor chin does not in any way mean that someone will be OUTSTRUCK by another.

I actually am NOT a Crocop fan, instead I respect him for what he is and what he has done. If I'm a fan of anyone in MMA, it would be Anderson Silva, Overeem, Jose Aldo, and I dunno who else. Oh yeah, and Fedor, although by now he should retire instead of continuing. He's going Crocop's route - older, slower, rusty.

  • @HugoTheSavant

I should end with this: If you thought Crocop lost to "scrubs" in K-1, think again. He has losses against various top-level fighters, including Andy Hug, Ernesto Hoost, Mike Bernardo. His only non-toptier losses were against were against McDonald and Bajrami, and even they are still decent. You're just a hater who doesn't know shit, brings up the stupidest arguments such as "he beat an old Aerts" when Aerts was 31-32 back then, and compares MMA striking to K-1 striking.

    Imbecile

  • @HugoTheSavant fedor should still be competing. he looked good against monson... in strikeforce he was just exposed to a better level of competition so he struggled to adapt. Hes got a lot of fight left in him.

  • @HugoTheSavant

Let me also add one more thing in case you try to bring up the whole "Shogun KO'd Overeem, JDS > Shogun, so JDS > K-1" rubbish. Overeem fought in K-1 very sporadically from 1999 to 2007, and he only began to compete regularly from 2008 onwards. His last loss to Rua was back in 2007, and there was a HUGE difference in Reem's striking once he began to dedicate A LOT more time to kickboxing (hence his regular competition). His K-1 record improved greatly after 2008, so...

    K-1 >JDS.

  • 2 of the baddest brazilians in the world

  • 2:20 go to sleep shogun

  • @MarcoGullible conditioning wasnt there ps jone jones can only hide from JDS for so long; that will be the day

  • @Jeccidah More like Anderson Silva can only hide from Jon Jones for so long.

  • Shogun is so fluid and smooth with that leg-kick.

  • @ThyChrysanthemum I was thinking the same thing. Shogun just flows with his strikes using all limbs, JDS's leg kicks look more forced and way less technical.

  • JDS is HUGE... man... I'd shit my pants if I saw that hunk in the cage with me. I've stood next to Shogun and felt small enough, JDS just owns it.

  • this video kinda gave me false hope. i really thought that shgun was going to beat jon jones. He'll be back, he just proved that the first fight he had with forrest was a complete fluke

  • to all those guys who want t say JONES DIS OR DAT TELL, WAT BIG NAMES HAS JONES FOUGHT (PLZ DNT SAY COZ WE ALL KNO HE WAS OUT OF CONDITION & AS BADLY CONDITIONED AS HE WAS, KEPT GETTIN UP; JONES CUDNT PUT SHOGUNS LIGHTS OUT).

Nw JDS on the other hand has put how many ppl 2 bed? lol plz do no match bones to JDS or try to say jones is athletic bla bla bla, if u cut the cage off from jones wat can jones do? jones has never been put in a corner.... & JDS hands r too quik for jones to set up anythn

  • shogun flashy

  • "And in a fight are known to kick with there legs" Russian has some smooth kicks.

  • 2:58 is how you turn the session up a notch

  • ai wanna see JDS sparring with Lyoto Machida

  • I love Shogun's Combos.

  • @T0ASTYWAG1992 flashy guy jus his whole style is fly

  • yea hes to strong and weights alot more.

  • junior is the best striker in the world

  • @BillingsNorteno JDS is not even in top ten when it comes to pure stiking, maybe in mma. But not in the leagues of the likes Pacquiao, Maywather Jr, Klitschko brothers, Buakaw and Bonjasky the list goes on

  • @ZePangsta bonjasky ???????? he punch like a little girl

  • @ZePangsta yea he would kill all those pukes idc wat u say

  • @ZePangsta JDS is pretty much in the middle of those people considering the type of fighters he has fought. I agree with Buakaw and possibly Floyd. But the Bitchsko's are just lumbering bums. they havent fought any real competition who would actually bring them a fight.

Pacman is neither here or there. his offense is his only weapon. he would be easy to counter-strike if there was someone would could.

regardless, JDS is at least in the top 15 as far as striking.

  • this is a great spar

  • They have good nice controlled sparring. No one gets injured.

  • at 2:20 shogun looks pissed and kicks a bit harder

  • Shogun is a fuckin beast

  • JDS would probably KO jon BONE jones. stronger around same height and better boxing

  • I think shogun is definitely got a step up in technique. But dos santos got that gorilla killa power. I love how they actually spar instead of trying to hurt each other. Brilliant.

  • I see a lot of discussion about Jon Jones VS Dos Santos. Jones would most likely win. He's far more athletic than Junior, and would use his enormous reach to batter him.

  • @glic7236 bahahahahahahha get off jones lol hahahahahah lmao so why isnt jones in the HW chasin JDS lol nxt your gona tell me jones can beat up a wall lmao get outta here

  • @Jeccidah

Jones will hopefully move to HW once he cleans the entire LHW division out. Notice how Shogun handles JDS in this video, and think about what Jones did to Shogun. Jones would easily defeat JDS. I think Cain would still beat Jones, but in time Jones can make it a good fight. I think Cain is the 2nd best HW ever behind Fedor.

  • @glic7236 this was jus b4 the coleman fight, JDS has improved so much in these past 3yrs

  • @Jeccidah

He's improved, but he's going to be exposed when he faces a "striker" instead of just a boxer in Cain Velasquez. Trust me, Cain will win.

  • Damn, they really picked it up there for a while. Given Shogun's history with Chute Box though, I can see why.

  • @bduv21 you are entitled to your opinion; but 1 thing even you must admit: Shogun didn't look anything like his former self. Possibly the long lay-off in unison with his previous recurring injuries, and the plain fact that Jones is a highly skilled dangerous opponent too.

  • two of my favourites!

JDS`s striking is outstanding and shogun`s kicks are vicious...

  • junior is very very good. one of my favorites. he is throwing a fair amount of kicks during this sparring session. i wish he would do that in his fights.

  • Its old.At the present time jds can whoop that ass.Sorry shogun...

  • most of MMA fans watch the sport for Pure violence and powerful strikes, they dont know that the most violent part stands on the ground, I love technique more than pure violence. But i am shure that all those trashtalker never took a lesson or are simply bad at their gym. I practice mma and all the fighters deserve recognition for what they have reached

  • @TheCorrigan93

Lol yeah it's so funny, literally like a day or two after I called it too

  • @TheCorrigan93 hahaha

  • no wonder machida got his ass handled 2

  • Man I want to see JDS vs Shane Carwin, what an awesome fight that would be.

  • light sparring means you have to start off light but we all know that one guy will hit de other guy clean and he will want payback and light sparring turns into two guys trying to take each others head off

  • @oxygenisbrill if your a retard and don't know how to parry and move

  • @master4441 wether you know how to parry and move or not everywan gets hit

  • @oxygenisbrill If they suck

  • @oxygenisbrill and Im not saying i disagree. Im just saying you can avoid harder punches

  • shogun better work on his conditioning cause after the year off hes gonna be a shitty fighter.

  • The fastest strikers in both weightclasses

  • Idk if any shogun kick can be " light"

  • @applejacktheripper he even kix in his sleep lol

  • Junior has control but shogun got a little carried away with the leg kicks.

  • @breeeee100 Yeah it really seems JDS is keeping it light. Easy to get carried away in sparring though...we've all been there haha

  • ik its sparring but dos santos lost,if it was a real full blast fight dos santos would win but from what i saw here shogun just killed him with kicks

  • JDS would destroy Jon Jones...!!!!!!!! =D

  • @gundam2388 JDS is a HW...Jon Jones is a LHW....

  • @racingmylife15 if he would move up to HW..then JDS will destroy him!!

  • @racingmylife15

    no shit sherlock.

  • @racingmylife15 jon nigger jones is a pussy. He's a natural hw, but is too afraid to fight at HW, because he knows he'll get fucked up. Nigger probably starves himself like his family in africa. No fried chicken for the monkey,

  • @gundam2388 no shit

  • @gundam2388 probably cause JDS is a heavyweight...

  • @22rperez so is bones, he just scared to go to heavyweight right now.

  • @J7G2006 ... or he's LHW champ right now...

    haters..

  • @ManKiIIer I'm not hating, he's super good & a beast, its just funny how rashad & vera are smaller but started off heavyweights. Jones prolly the biggest lhw in the the top 10. JDS is the same size with less reach but for some reason JDS looks smaller haha. He not scared but hes a big wrestling bully in lhw but its cool, hopefully one day he steps up to hw & he'll get a real challenge if no one stops him.

  • @22rperez JJones comes in 10lb lighter then JDS on fight night...

  • @22rperez JDS has been fighting HW since he was 22, give him his credit, jones is 24 fighting in LW lol JDS is PRO jon johns is weak

  • @gundam2388 no shit !!!!!!!!=D JDS IZ HW

  • they have same smile ?

  • @gundam2388 oh shit lmao im a dumb ass i thot it sed shogun lmao but yeah i think jds wud fuck jones up XD

  • @gundam2388 the diffrence between JDS & jones is that JDS walked straight to the HW with no fear, werby jones decided to stay bc in the LW division lol props to jds

  • I would def. not want to meet anyone of these guys in a dark alley....

  • Se entra a sequência dos 3:00 min. numa luta de verdade, era lona pro Shogun!

    WAR Cigano!!!!

  • Two brilliant fighters, and top class athletes in action. Great to see.

  • @bduv21 Shogun was outta shape and just comin off an injury, otherwise Shogun would've killed Jones

  • @andyb2389

I thought the same thing.. The flying knee and high kick in round one gassed shogun.. He'll be back stronger than ever and will reclaim his title. WAR SHOGUN!

  • looks fun, im gettin back in the octagon

  • Nice flow.

  • nice sparring!

  • 3:00 to 3:05 felt some sparks there hahahaha , my 2 fav fighters

  • he must be training for jones.he is ggod skilled that rua, probably knockout some heavy weights, they may be stronger but he would

  • Nice vid, thanks. Keep 'em coming.

  • 1:15 was that ernesto hoost?

  • ufc is a reality show SCAM!

what a complete waste of time & talent for Shogun to be fighting under this bogus "unified rules" format promulgated by Vana white, marc RATner, ufc & their little cronies in these corrupt commissions Stateside.

Jon Jones should be thanking his lucky stars to be fighting Shogun with half his arsenal deemed illegal.

    ufc is NOT MMA!

  • @judaschongo

you have to understand that the UFC MMA wouldn't have been legalized nationwide hadn't they kept those rules

  • @sdeevooo

MMA was legal in the states during the Pride days, except for New York and one or two others.

  • @SkyrimOwns

i never talked about mma being illegal in the states?

  • @sdeevooo

'You have to understand that the UFC MMA rules wouldn't have been legalized nationwide hadn't they kept those rules'

Also, there was a Pride event in the states, using non UFC rules, with stomping, soccerkicks but oh, no elbows to a grounded opponent. UFC rules are bullshit and you know it. Elbows rarely ever cause knockouts but ALWAYS cause cuts which may cause doctor stoppages.

  • @SkyrimOwns

let me put it in simply language since you have trouble understanding. Had they taken off the rules that made stomping illegal from the UFC, which they couldn't legalize to begin with. UFC wouldn't have been approved. What state are you from by the way

  • @sdeevooo

I didn't need you to throw all of your grammar out of the window for that comment. I can read. But hey, if you're too retarded to realise there where pride shows in the states, then I feel sorry for you and I don't want to argue with a retard. Cya.

  • @SkyrimOwns

    butthurt

  • @sdeevooo

That's painful stuff coming from a 12 year old with severe mental retardation and an inability to understand basic English.. Learn to read you faggot, and grow the fuck up.

  • @sdeevooo in simply language?

  • @IBOOZLOTZ9919

google "typo". You'll learn something new today

  • @sdeevooo haha all im saying is if youre going to try to be a smart guy atleast make sure everything is correct

  • @IBOOZLOTZ9919

actually i dumbed myself down to his level. i had to pay the price you see :D

  • Comment removed

  • @sdeevooo haha i believe it was unnecessary but i guess you did what you had to do

  • @judaschongo

Dana white doesn't make the decision you dumbnut

    the athletic commission does

  • @Proudtobefilipino033 Vana white has had a big part in promulgating this little SCAM here Stateside called "unified rules"!

International Rules: 10min 1st rd., 4point attacks etc. over unified rules any day!

  • @judaschongo

    ufc is mma the end

  • @pettibone311 ufc is a watered down version of MMA!

  • @judaschongo

jon jones, shogun, couture, machida, gsp, and millions of fans would completely disagree with your opinion.

    ufc is mma the end.

  • @judaschongo soccer kicks and stomps tot he head wuld not have stopped him from losing. if u see the fight he wulda never got the oppurtunity. even under pride rules.

  • @vespaman101 your absolutely correct in this instance; Shogun looked terrible in all honesty. Could of been the long lay off coupled with his recurring injuries? and that's not taking anything away from Jones who's highly skilled & dangerous. But you can't help but think that Shogun didn't help his own cause; he simply was not there; and is capable of so much more.

  • @judaschongo yeah i still think he wuld have lost tho to be honest. Even if he was healthy. Once jones put the fight ont he ground it wuld be same old same old. shoguns bjj is good but jones wuld be hard for even the best to submit.

  • @judaschongo im a shogun fan but sorry to say, knee and stomps to the face of a grounded opponent wouldn't have helped shogun, it probably would have just enabled bones to decimated shogun even more.

  • @DcN51791 I agree with you statement! but doesn't change the fact that Shogun gassed early and didn't help his own cause. Simply put, it was a terrible performance; and he is capable of so much more.

  • Comment removed

  • @J7G2006 Hey man, Im a Jones Hater and a Shogun lover, but it didnt matter if that fight was in a ring, cage, or a high school football field. Shogun got outclassed from the first few seconds when that flying knee hit him to the end where he wobbled to the end of the cage and got dropped. Shogun was getting fucking rocked on the feet and on the ground. He looked gassed after the first round. But I agree with you, the Lay and praying is getting old, but jones is far from that.

  • Comment removed

  • @judaschongo Your points are valid from a purist fan's point of view. But Dana and UFC is also a business. We all wish UFC was like the original UFC 1, 2, and 3, or like Pride, but in order for MMA to make it with the general American public and the politicians, it has to be watered down. The opposition still consists of old school guys who characterize MMA as "human cock fighting," which forces people like Dana to play up MMA as a legit looking sport that's safe and humane.

  • @judaschongo UFC MADE MMA WHAT IT IS TODAY ARE YOU STUPID OR WHAT ?

  • @TeMpOuK1 It is really the Gracies who made MMA what it is. The Gracie's invented UFC (original) and Pride FC. Not sure if you knew that or not. New UFC rules are not for me. Too much advantage for wrestlers. I think soccer kicks should be allowed to give strikers a chance over wrestlers. At least soccer kicks to the body.

  • @Polarcupcheck Think About It Dude...Strikers Already Have The Biggest Advantage Over Any Style Of Fighter, They Can End A Fight In 1 Or 2 Hits. Submission Fighters Can End The Fight With A Few Quick Moves Too. If UFC's Rules Weren't The Way They Are Wrestlers Would Have No Chance Vs. Strikers And Submission Fighters.

Wrestlers Have To Do The Most Work To Win A Fight: If They Can Avoid Getting KOed Or Submitted, Score Takedowns, Control The Fight, And Score Some Strikes They Deserve To Win.

  • @sunnymunch id give that to aldo but shogun has better hands and ground either way BRASIL!

  • ..Shogun is clearly the better striker of the 2, but JDS probably has more power.

torço pra ele pq é brasileiro mas... achu q esse cinturão vai pro jones

  • If I had to pick, I'd say that Shogun would win more than 5 fights out of 10 against Dos Santos. Dos Santos is incredible but Shogun is unreal.
