I went there some years back and fed some Stingrays while scuba diving, They really mob you if you're holding a container of food, Don't try it if you have any claustrophobia at all people they won't try to sting you or anything but they will mob you until they get all the food you're carrying, That oone time I was feeding one he sucked the piece of shrimp I was holding out of my hand along with a few of my fingers right into it's mouth and then let them go.
Apparently there are good spots down in the Carolinas. Of course there is Florida. The website mentioned at the end of this video has some good write ups about spots down there.
I think its just only the bahamas. I think in cayman (i've only lived here for about 3 months so I dont know for sure) that the DOE (Department of Environment) have a strict policy on dolphins.
Feeding the "killer Devil Fish" at Sting Ray City? I would live right there in the water if I could, it's like being in a pool with a bunch of puppy's that swim good. The best encounter with animals I've ever had.
These Stingrays are very Friendly and just look where you step because some hid under sand These Stingrays are tame because this goes a while back when fisherman use to dump extra bait and eventually the stringrays got use to seeing people and became very tame. This was what i was told when I went there a few years ago, and also stringrays suck in their food, too.
No there completely harmless ..ive fed 5 feet long stingrays ..ive bin to stingray city about 4 times in my life and i love it because the trips usually take you to Coral Gardens and Boreal Reef were you can see green eels and nurse sharks that are taimed ..stingrays wont do you anything unless you step on them ..then tyll stick there tail in some part of ya lol
Yeah stingrays are like really old dogs. Theyre all pretty harmless. Thats why I was so shocked when i heard that Steve Irwin died from a Stingray attack. Ive seen people get stung by many and its more of like stepping on a nail kinda injury. Its just REALLY random that Steve Irwin gets stung by a Stingray in an extreamly vatal position.
I used to live in San Antonio and I moved here about three months ago. Once in a while there are specials you can look for. Its gets really expensive during special holidays like christmas. Just search around and see if you can find those specials. Most likely around 500 -1000.
Yes, the ones down in Stingray City have been conditioned for years to interact with people. Onc divemaster was actually lifting an adult stingray right out of the water to show snorkellers.
It's really sad about Steve Irwin as I too was a huge fan.
I've dived there - these stingrays are like pets - no worries, if you follow the rules of interacting with them.
Just gets some extra weights, as its quite shallow there - around 12 ft

I've done this too, it's great. The stringrays wouldn't come round you if you weren't feeding them.

looks like fun, as long as they don't stab you with their stingers.
