@leoenutube I think because it was too expensive for an Australian network (as opposed to the American channels, who were throwing lavish spending budgets at "Return to Eden's" American counterparts like "Dynasty," "Dallas," and "Falcon Crest), and the mediocre ratings simply couldn't justify keeping such a big budget soap on the air. Shame, though, I felt the writing, acting, and cinematography was much better here than on the American primetime soaps.

Peta Toppano was brilliant as camp-vamp Jilly Stewart, an all out b*tch who could have given Alexis Carrington a run for her money any day of the week. One of the best Australian shows ever shown on British tv (Cell Block H the same). They could have made a second series just for us!

its so ironic back in 1986..this scored massive ratings on ITV in the UK..had this been the case now..chances are they would have put money into keeping it going.

Pity they didnt get a 1 off special to end the show properly like Dynasty and Dallas.

Yes I to love Peta. She is gorgeous. Her carachter Jilly dangerous but at the same time time exciting. If the series had proved such a big hit in the UK, then why did ITV (who screened it) not step in and have another series filmed? A great shame as there would have been plenty of material and great storey lines for a future run. Sadly some TV networks and producers get very cold feet about ratings, without thinking long-term.

The original ending has Stephanie standing at the top of the stairs with the gun in her hand and Jilly shouting to everyone that she saw Stephanie shoot Jake.

Do you happen to know which store I can order both the miniseries in 1983 and the rest on RTE in 1986, i.e., Best Buy, Barnes & Nobles, etc. In the meantime, it would be wonderful if Netflix and/or Blockbuster would carry Return To Eden (1983 & 1986).

We were also fans of Dynasty and Knots Landing. Peta's character of Jilly Stewart made Alexis played by Joan Collins and Abby played by Donna Mills seem like they were angles. Jilly was just pure evil.

I have two DVD Players. One, is just a Sony DVD player in the front it has the following: CD/DVD Player DVP-S360. The second, is a Polaroid DVD Player/HiFi VCR Combo-2000. Does anyone know if Blockbuster or Netflix has both? Does anyone else in the USA have both? Can Return To Eden (both - 1983 & 1986) be found on the Internet and Downloaded?

I am not sure how to obtain both DVD's or even VHS Tapes that will play here in the USA because we don't use PAL. Also, I am not sure which region the USA is in, but I know that it isn't the region that it needs to be in order Return To Eden (1986) and Return To Eden (1968) play. I looked at the back of my DVD Players and it doesn't mention any region or number in the backs.

I loved both the mini-series and the 22 episodes of this show. I was so pissed when they took it off air after the cliff-hanger episode. These scenes were originally only shown in Eastern Europe. Thanks for posting. Now I will head off to JB-HIFI and buy the whole 22 episodes.

This was filmed after the series was cancelled because they realised they couldn't sell the worldwide syndication rights to the season because the show ended on a cliffhanger which had no resolution. Several of the cast were asked back to film a few scenes which tied up some of the main plot elements. Incidentally this new conclusion was never seen in Australia, only in Europe, which is why it's left off the Australian Box Set!

I just bought the box set when in sydney. This was shown the the UK in the 80s and was a camp hit. What a great clip! was it filmed at the same time as the others? different hair etc. Peta Topanno rules!
