  • @CaseRed0605 The voucher is intended to pay for insurance, not to pay for the surgery. The insurance will cover the cost of the surgery, just like most people's private insurance that they pay for now from their paycheck does. There are also coops available that engage in cost sharing, another private alternative. I have family who were uninsured, and could not afford traditional insurance. Their coop. paid for all of their son's bills when he had to stay in the hospital for a few weeks.

  • Sorry folks, the cold hard reality is more people are going to have to die. Myself included. In order for a society to thrive it must have useful constructive and working people and a marginal amount of dead wood. People on welfare and all these government programs are sucking the life out of our country. We need to eliminate these people and create conditions where more people can afford healthcare and we also need to educate people on health and well being.

It sucks but its the truth.

  • GOP ONLY CARES ABOUT A FETUS BEING BORN, THEN WHEN IT IS BORN INTO THIS WORLD THEY DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS IN TERMS OF HOW THIS NEWBORN WILL LIVE BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR PROGRAMS FOR THEM....THEN THE GOP ONCE AGAIN CARES ABOUT THE NEWBORN ABOUT THE TIME WHEN THE CHILD BECOMES OLD ENOUGH FOR THE REPUBLICANS TO SEND IT OFF AND FIGHT FOR IT'S CORPORATE INTERESTS IN WARS AROUND THE WORLD. PATHETIC!!

  • So I just had a grandparent have open heart surgery it cost $120,000. This is in 2011. 25 years from now it might cost over $300,000. But no worries people under 55, you'll get a nice $15,000 voucher.

Now go open up a lemonade stand to make the rest of $275,000 you need to save your life.

  • Yes, this is a blue print created by think tanks and pushed onto the elected members of the current GOP. I'm glad we now know the plan.

  • Why are republican voters so surprised when they get fucked by the people they put in office??

  • @andotech This is correct. For 30 years people have voted against their own self interest. Are they finally seeing this? I doubt it.

  • Ryan's plan is not a guaranteed benefit like Medicare is. Ryan's plan does do away with Medicare as we know it. He would privatize it, this yahoo trying to defend it isn't telling the truth.

  • Tea party would only suffer from this if people go out and protest. other wise things would continue as usual , Corporate Media would hide every thing from public and Obama will surrender again.

  • The Republicans want to end planned parent hood, deny prenatal care to poorand middle class, not fund public education or pay for health care to children, give teens jobs, help them pay for college. And this is right to life?????????????????????? I guess they just care about the unborn at conception . How about the cost of sick babies being born with no prenatal care or the extra children families will have to cloth feed and educate . Oh well they really are not right to life .

  • @eemurphy41 They want to make sure you are born then the uneducated will be sent to war to fight for the corporations. Like they do now.

  • Nice to see right-wingers finally coming to their senses and realizing what the GOP means to do to Medicare. It's ALWAYS been their ultimate goal to abolish it, just as the GOP has wanted to kill Social Security since the 1930s.

  • Let them abolish Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP. In less than 10 years, their entire Tea Party will be perished for good then we can be cured of this disease we've come to know as radical Libertarianism.

  • when the call went for brains pat thought they trains and answered make mine a toy one

  • Republicans WILL abolish Medicare and Medicaid. They have been wanting to do that from the very beginning of the programs. Anyone who tells otherwise is a liar. They will replace Medicare with vouchers for insurance that you will have to go out and get yourself. And if you have ever dealt with insurance companies, the first thing they care about is profit and they will get that from you eventually.

  • His lips are moving...... Koch puppet theater has begun...

  • By his reasoning if we have a plan that gives seniors a ham sandwich and the plan is called medicare. We have not abolished medicare.

  • privatizing anything is WRONG... corporations have ruined America and sold us all out no matter what party we belong to... now they even own prisons and make money off how many people are in jail... sinful and embarrassing

  • This is nothing more than trying to manifest Ayn Rand's insanity.

  • Look at him dance around, physically and verbally. Keep dancing, you CAN'T justify this. I hope you are voted out ASAP.

  • Well it's about time, people woke up. The Party they voted to let run Congress will stick it to you, so the Rich can get more!

  • It doubles the cost? People are struggling on Medicare as it is now. And they are trying to pass off the lie that doubling that cost will not hurt anyone.

It is a bold faced attack on our Aged.

  • @cliveklg "It is a bold faced attack on our Aged. "

Not only that, but the social security cut is going to remove anyone under 55 from social security altogether with no exemptions. I went to the website and did not see an exemption for those, such as the permanently disabled, who already are on social security but are not 55+. They are banking on the masses not thinking about it or just assuming that S.S would match the medicare/caid exemptions across the field.

  • I hope the Tea Party suffers from this.

  • @RazsterTW The tea party members were DUPED. I can't get all warm and fuzzy about the destruction being rained down on their heads by reps who flat out LIED to them. I -do- hope they start recalls of each and everyone of these SOB's who lied to them.

  • @RazsterTW

I hope ONLY the Teabaggers suffer from this.

Lord knows they've been trying to foist pain unto us true American Patriots with their hate-mongering lies ... and have been, very sadly, quite successful with their vile bile.

  • He is a liar. Medicare would be abolished with the Ryan plan. Getting vouchers to pay health insurance is not the same as Medicare. Hence Medicare would be abolished.

  • Why do jerks like Meehan think they can be rude to their constituents? I bet he's not rude to the rich SOBs who fund his anti-American campaigns.

  • @MartinGist of course he's not rude to the elites. I'll bet he even brings his own kneepads when he visits the Koch Brothers, or Dick Armey.

  • Everyone that believes this is a good idea and will fix the deficit needs to be told only one thing- WHEN YOUR PARENTS GO BANKRUPT OVER MEDICAL BILLS, THEY WILL BE MOVING IN WITH YOU!!!!

OH and forget about putting them in a nursing home, have you looked at those prices lately??

So how do you feel about giving Dad a bath or changing Mom's diaper?

  • @Shawna0718

Don't forget that in order to care for one's parents at that point, both spouses will need to have 2 jobs. So they'll also need a couple of dependable teens, who they can take out of school to stay home and care for their grandparents all day. American households may actually have both sets of grandparents living under the same roof too. Oh, and the "boomers" are now retiring, en-mass. But hey, maybe everyone can finally get that "trickle-down" raise, if the CEO feels like sharing.

  • Nice to see informed voters coming out to ask these questions. What goes around comes around Repukes!

  • These frauds supported the mobs that K Street lobbying firms sent out against health reform, and they expect us to politely listen to their lies? What cowards.

  • double speak...
