we've seen the highest unemployment rate since...........eh...for at least five years. sounds like his speech writer didnt fill Barack in on the facts very well this time.
I think the first part of this speech should be called the "All across America" speech and I think it should be used for the State of the Union address. It is powerful in a way reminiscent of Dr. King.
I hope Americans are smart enough to vote for the real change, Barack Obama. I can't believe all the lying McCain and Palin are getting away with. Americans need to wake up and make a difference. Aren't you sick of how Bush and the Republicans have screwed the country? OBAMA BIDEN '08
The nice thing about having a dem in office is that the dems don't blindly support their leaders like the republicans do. Obama is going to have some serious oversight and you can include myself as part of it.
On the other hand, republicans will hate him no matter what. Clinton was the best Republican president we ever had but that didn't stop republicans from hating his ass.
I am Canadian and although I dont vote, I hope that our American friends vote for Obama because simply he would be the best for their great country. I am a Conservative party of Canada supporter and will vote for Harper (PM now and a candidate in Canada election) but Harper is way better and more honest than McCain or(O' dear) Palin. For those GOP supporters just open your mind and have a minute of truth between you and yourself and you will see what I mean
this guy is really amazing - intelligent and calm with incredible grace amid all the crap that is being thrown at him. We never get decent people to go into politics anymore EXCEPT NOW, We will not blow this historic chance to actually have an intelligent person in the white house.
Don't believe the hype of the polls. We are going to win this thing by 5 points.
Nobody is really taking the Hispanic and youth vote serious. Plus a lot of the Palin fans will wake up when they realize she is just there for the visuals. McCain is the true sexist. To pick a person with little knowledge after spending the last 18 month telling Americans how much experience is important is Cynical and Reckless!
Obama is making right move by talking about the issues. It wouldn't hurt if he made his speech into soundbites and played them as commercials. And also talk about post-partisanship and REAL CHANGE. YES WE CAN OBAMA 08
i hope mr. obama gets tough on those debates.. i mean T-O-U-G-H.. this election is slipping away for some reason(it should be a blow out but its close)... get angry, if he needs too(in the right context of course).. this election is too important...way too important...
I've been watching this extraordinary man grow before my eyes for about 2 years now, all the way from Britain.
We Brits are a pretty fatalistic bunch, regarding most politicians with cynicism, if not contempt.
Yet Obama is supported here by a margin of 5 to 1. We like his composure, his strength & stamina, his keen intelligence, his natural ease & his vision of a better world. Not to speak of his soaring oratory. We also love the fact that he thinks on his feet, which the less..
Hey my fellow Americans, who the hell from the republicans has ever mentioned about homeless veterans? Even Mccain was a veteran, but he never say or mention about those ppl. This guy Obama is very serious about each and every issues that faces this nation. So let's do our ideological math, and vote for the right person.
To Peaviner: Yes, raising taxes on those who make 250K a year is raising taxes. However, the American econmy is only strong when the middle class can spend money. Roughly 90% of the population of our country makes LESS than 250K per year. It's not a "pretty" solution, but it is certainly better than continuing what has been (Bush tax policy). Obama is in the group who's taxes will go up...If McCain puts "Country first" he should be backing Obama's plan.
Peace cannot be afforded by guns and swords, but by endurance. US going to prove to rest of the world that they are not barbaric nation who likes war and bloodshed. US need change.
When Obama wins we the whole worlds inhabitants will know that US inhabitants is not a barbaric nation. US people does not like war and bloodshed. Peace does not come from swords and guns, but comes out of tolerances. If George Bush was a good christian He would offer his life than taking so many innocent peoples life. He would learn from Jesus on the cross.
I've been following this race very closely...I'm an Independent and have already made my choices for Senate and Congress in my district...I need help for real I just don't know what to do for President..I like Barak's speeches and Ideals but I'm also opposing some too..and McCain it's the same thing but I mostly disagree because of his 90% voting with Bush..and choosing Palin...PLEASE HELP Dems always talk about helping people..here is a chance..I don't want to vote on the lesser of 2 evils vote
I dont want to slam anyone. All I want to say is I was a republican until I realized how bad, unamerican filthy liar corrupt thieves, could let the VALUE OF AMERICAN MONEY DOWN, LET BIG RIG OIL STEAL MONEY FROM OUR AMERICAN POCKETS, AND NEARLY BRING OUR SOLID SUCCESSFUL AMERICAN ECONOMY TO ITS KNEES. AMERICANS ARE WINNERS. AMERICANS WILL GIVE HOPE AND TRY HARD. AMERICANS CAN DO GREAT AND COME BACK AS WINNERS THROUGH A DEMOCRAT. I BELIEVE.
People, we need to put aside all our racial differences and elect a man who will change our lives. For the better. This man will see to it that we have a better life, and we only have to give him a chance.
It is an insult and a sexist act for the McCain campaign to have chosen Palin for VP.
An inexperience person to have been chosen for the VP candidacy is an insult, for she was only chosen because she was a woman and some one whom they believe would attract Hillarys followers.
You apparently don't know your history. FDR was extremely unpopular for a lot of the things he did in office. Only in our history books is FDR portrayed as this ever-popular, do-no-wrong head of state. He had a couple of brief periods where he enjoyed high ratings, but he was unpopular for much of his career as president.
Obama, dont let Mccain get to you. The guy is stealing from you. You are change. Make your self new, the beauty about change is it never gets tired. We are with you. ignoring someone is powerful
Im like renewable energy. We need to get more subsidies and incentives for renewable energy on both large and small scales. Some may call me liberal but I dont care. If you like 10 dollar per gallon gas and more power to you. If America doesnt get moving on renewables we will be buying the technoloy from someone else. Does that sound familiar??
OBAMA! I've never felt so strongly about any candidate, ever. Smart as hell, fair, wise, knowledgeable, analytical, positive, dignified. The Republican party's antics will back-fire. Palin's bubble will deflate. We've seen her in her interviews; she is ignorant and dangerous! She has no ability to analyze the complexities of the issues facing us today. She could be governor for 10 years, she would never be fit for the White House. McCain can't hide behind her forever. GO OBAMA/BIDEN!
i dont think Hillary is vice-presidential material pipo pls. she is presidential material, for now would do with another post and hit back 2012 trust me.
Obama is criticized for his lack of experience in certain areas. George W. Bush had loads of experience when he moved into the White House. Look what his experience as a Governor have done to this wonderful country.
I would much rather have an honest, intelligent person (like Obama and Biden) with good, decent values and who care about all of us than someone who's only qualifications seem to be that he was shot down and captured while dropping bombs on innocent people with whom he did not agree
Wow! I love the line at the beginning "quiet storms taking place..." Obama shows courage by understanding and speaking to the problems. He offers sound solutions, unlike many politicians and does not avoid the issues. What an inspirational leader... I wish we could elect him up north! I think many, many people in the world feel the same way. It will be something to see Nov. 4th - one leap forward or a huge step backwards? What an exciting campaign. Vote, vote, vote people.....
look at my baby, the next president. I cant wait till he slaps McCain in the face during the debates. Obama has been slandered by these Republicans. Using the Islamic religion as a slur against him, having racist slurs (baby mama), terrorist fist bumps.
I dont hate Republicans, but the type of tactics they have used against Obama has made me want to slap the hell out of some of them.
This vid really needs to be cut at 29:03! It sure as hell won't go viral with a half and hour running time.
The last four minutes of this speech are exactly what Obama needs to be saying. And his words are exactly what we Americans need to be hearing. Are we really going to let this election be about frigging earmarks? Is that the biggest issue facing us today? Earmarks? God help us.
Obama says that trickle down economics isn't working. He says that the GOP doesn't recognize this. He's wrong. They recognize what Reaganomics is doing but to the GOP, that is a good thing. The worth of the richest in the country has increased dramatically at the expense of the middle class... that, to the GOP, is the very essence of "working".
I have observed, like everyone, else that Mcain is pretending to run away from his support for the failed policies of George Bush. Why dont we make banners or run ads with the title "MACAIN, YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CANT HIDE". Pass it along to the people that can act on it. al, okc
An inspiring leader. May God continue to protect you via-out the political storms that you are undergoing presently and are yet to undergo and thus provide you with a way out of them. God is waiting for January to give you the presidential crown that you rightly deserve.
A voice from the people that wants to make a positive step towards the better good of the american people. It isn't about white or black, it's about all of us who dare to dream. Isn't that truly what the american promise is all about?
Thanks for posting this speech. I wish this could be played on national television every day for the rest of the campaign season. My favorite parts are "we don't need tough talk, we need smart strategy!" and "he may have the lobbyists, but I have YOU!" For all the naysayers, doubting that America can achieve Obama's vision of greatness...Heed his underlying message...WHERE THERE'S A WILL THERE'S A WAY!!!!
I like that Obama is positive. There is too much negativity in politics. Obama doesn't want to be someone he is not and he shouldn't. He is his best and most victorious when he is inspirational and sticks to the facts of his plan. LOVE THIS SPEECH!!! YES WE CAN!!!!
I watched this because the republican campaign said of this speech "Barack Obama showed zero restraint in the ferocity of his attacks despite the wreckage in the gulf"
I wanted to see what they were talking about, but his attacks in this speech were not on McCain personally but the policies McCain is promoting. The Republicans seem to be grasping at straws.
This is what he has to do, keep on the issues. It wouldn't hurt to get soundbites from his speeches and play them as commercials. Especially the DISPROVING the belief that obama is going to raise taxes
wow absolutely amazin. So much truth. Its like a breath of fresh air. Obama gives me, America and the world hope.
G-d Bless Barack Obama and The United States of America.
Obama/Biden 08
I donated $70 just 2 days ago. I know times are tough, its why I donated as much as I could. I won't regret this year. Not this time. If you can chip in whatever you can know it will make a difference. Know that together we can and will change this world and win this election.
Keep sounding like Kerry and he will lose the same. Obama's not going to win over new votes like this. Just get to the points and don't even mention your opponent. Tell us what you and Biden are going to do for us. Those are the zingers!
Attacking Mc Cain with lies is NOT the way to campaign and NOT what Obama represents.
That's THEIR way of doing things. Politics is a dirty business but at the end of the day honesty, guts and the will to persevere will win US this election.
It's not a Democratic thing. Or a Republican thing. It's an American thing. A human thing.
American citizens want... no... demand change and we will NOT get it with Mc Cain. Absolutely not. Don't believe the lies.
good speech!!! Thankyou for finally running an ad "its over ad" that speaks the truth about mccain/palin and their republican party GOOD WORK!!! KEEP THEM COMING THERES LOTS TO TELL
This video really needs to be cut at 29:02 and posted on its own.
This is what he needed to say, and what we all need to hear. Our problems are real. Lehman, anyone? I'm Ivy League-educated, and I want someone 10 times smarter than I am at the helm--not someone I can relate to.
Are we Americans really allowing a major party to run, now, in this crucial moment in US history, on a platform of eliminating state earmarks? Really? That's the best we can do?
Fellow Americans, we cannot let McCain into the White House. Even if you don't trust/like Obama, you have to realize that McCain is just Bush 2.0. McCain voted 90% of the time with Bush, and if you don't believe me just Google it and find out for yourself. If we have 4 more years of Bush/McCain the economy will collapse, we will start more wars that we cannot afford and most of all we will lose our true freedom. Voting for Obama may not be winning, but it sure is better than losing.
Obama should launch an Issues week. Were Every day of this special week, he Gives a Major speech on On major Issue. Foreign Policy, Economy, Energy in Great detail. A kind of convention like week were the media is all over him. That's what he needs because the mccain campaign has said that every day that they do not talk about the war or economy is a win for mccain.
haha why cant McCain debate in a real place instead of one his southern hall meetings that he'll probably pack with pro-bush rednecks. The old man cant speak to crowds now he wants Obama to cater to his weakness?
I dont think so. But dont worry, a debate between them will be coming, soon.
I was there today for the rally, OBAMA,if given the chance is going to do great things for our country,
It was great to see the passion in politics once again after 8 yrs of lost faith and trust in our so called leader.
I do, however think he needs to step it up regarding his ad campaigns, It is too close to election day to be doing humorous ads, It is time to bring out the big guns now OBAMA.
I was in Manchester today for the rally and it is sooo awesome to see people once again passionate, Over the last 8 yrs we have lost the trust in our leader, It was awesome to see the passion back in politics.
I think Obama, if elected will do great things and make history BUT I also think he needs to step it up a notch on his campaign ads. If he wants to be our next president he is going to really have to knock mCcain, No time or room for being nice and polite.
Obama had much better things to do than to sit down talking to McCain in town meetings. The presidential debates will provide a platform for all of us to see their differences. Obama's time was best served doing exactly what he did...talking to voters. McCain does not set the agenda for the Obama campaign.
What hope? What change? All he can say is change, change, change! He hasn't the slightest idea of what change America needs. Obama has NO idea on change, he's pulling topics out of his ass and stick in between I want to change "insert your word" and we will hope for "insert other word". I can talk about things I want to change, and hope for, that does not mean I will be a good president. There are good changes, and there are bad changes, raising taxes, increase government size is NOT good.
Keep up the good work Senator Obama this is a touching speech. I think you made the right choice to not appear on Saturday Night Live since Hurricane Ike is more imporant at the moment. I have an example of people of all races united I happen to be part of that group. They are a kids swim team and the kids are different ages and different races I act as a menator to them. I not only teach them about swimming but also life itself. You have inspired me to be a better menator. I hope you do well.
Yo Gamer, you know that those town hall meetings are only open to certain republicans? now everyone can go to watch. It's a shame too, because he could use the seat filled up a bit. Only card carying Repub's can go. That's not a town hall meeting, that's a TV spot repub talking point meeting for Fox news to put on their channel. It's a shame too, i once liked John, but he can't talk now if Carl Rove is drinking milk. It's a darn shame what he turned into.
McCain does not have my families interest at heart whatsoever - we are the working middle-low waged struggling family just like so many others out there.
Obama does understand and relates to us in more ways than one for our family in regards to taxes, health care, education, to name just a few. We're living a nightmare and just one hospital visit away from bankruptcy...
We're falling to our knees under the current administration and McCain will be more of the same if not worse.
This is a speech of ideas. Something that you will never hear from McGoo/Palin...they have nothing to offer to change the Washington we have, just 4 more years of Bush/Cheney
Want to help gain 3rd party voters to Barack Obama???
If any Obama supporters are interested in helping me "convert" Ron Paul supporters, which there are a few 6+ million of them on youtube alone!!! More likely to vote Obama than McCain. (I was one of them - I have all the info u need). Send me a message (youtube "email") and I will give you what you need.
All you have to be able to do is COPY AND PASTE. Let's BARACK THE VOTE!
Obama needs to make TV spots outlining the changes he proposes in detail. One spot per issue. Here's what change on education is, here's what change on energy is, what change on health care is (pointing out McCain taxes your benefits). Get out there and define yourself, Barack. If people know what you're really proposing, you win.
All the disinformation out there is swept aside by what Senator Obama says. The rethugnicans are helped by they cynical followers and the compromised media but if we can get the word out, he'll get elected and then things are going to change around here for the better.
"John McCain may have the lobbyist, but I have you"! This is a speech that shows Obama's growth in strength and wisdom as a presidential candidate, pushing his message on how and why change is needed. He drew the clear differences between him and McCain, and with that, his message is now more focused and able to win those who doubt him!
Obama is a natural leader, and no experience can give you that.
Excellent speech, he has the compassion that no other candidate in this race for the American people. He strives on pathos as a tool to be persuasive, it's just pure genius. Mccain lacks pathos so badly, he has no emotional appeal to his people never mind compassion. I havn't heard one policy from him that is going to bring about help for the American people...he's gonna go down so badly!
Does anyone actually believe that if energy companies here in our country will trickle down anything i/e reduced rates to us consumers if they use alternative energy? I think..unlikely
If only Obama was running for the UK Prime Ministry as well (dunno how that would work but would be cool)... Gordon Brown is a screwjob.

JoeNietzsche 3 years ago
I have observed, like everyone, else that Mcain is pretending to run away from his support for the failed policies of George Bush. Why dont we make banners or run ads with the title "MACAIN, YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CANT HIDE". Pass it along to the people that can act on it. al, okc

That's what he needs because the mccain campaign has said that every day that they do not talk about the war or economy is a win for mccain.

Loriann03038 3 years ago
I was in Manchester today for the rally and it is sooo awesome to see people once again passionate, Over the last 8 yrs we have lost the trust in our leader, It was awesome to see the passion back in politics.
I think Obama, if elected will do great things and make history BUT I also think he needs to step it up a notch on his campaign ads. If he wants to be our next president he is going to really have to knock mCcain, No time or room for being nice and polite.

Obama's view on homeless people
We are all hoping for change on this issue. I hope that the solution is to give the homeless change
xocutiexoluvzu 3 years ago
There are good changes, and there are bad changes, raising taxes, increase government size is NOT good.
xocutiexoluvzu 3 years ago
